- Dement v0.4.2.14/15/16 (Not Redesiccated yet, sadface) - 25 October 2022
0.4.2.14 The behind-the-head holster to send stuff back to the inventory easily wasn't working. It is now. Slightly adjusted the position of the hip holsters to make them a bit easier to use. New save file format - its unencrypted so you can cheat if you want. Some people don't like the stamina system, so give yourself 1000 max stamina with 1000 stamina regen. Or tweak it a bit so it isn't as punishing by changing the regen rate a little. Or respawn every item in the game and potentially break it. Up to you. Game ending bugs with the apartment lobby door re-locking under certain conditions and the school play scripts disappearing when left alone in the theater have been fixed. The apartment lobby issue is retroactive, and if you have a save stuck there it won't be a problem anymore. The school play one, though, will require you to delete certain keys from your "world items found" sectio…
- Dement 0.4.2.13 - 5 February 2021
Reminded all enemies where their nav points are. Fixed some enemies in the third part of Chapter 2 respawning too quickly. Fixed a game breaking bug where taking the first shooting range course before letting Sgt. Lewis finish his instructions caused him to get stuck asking for a tablet he already has. Fixed a couple of other funky bugs with the shooting range. Nerfed the shooting range explosive barrels. They were giving WAY too many points. Fixed some weird apartment coin puzzle bugs regarding its continuity. Added a couple of helpful tips and wall markers for notoriously obtuse things (i.e. apartment bridge board cough). I don't know if this WAS an issue (I don't have a Reverb G2 to test) but there might have been a game stopping bug (avoidable, but still annoying) during the tutorial. In the future, if any new VR controllers come out that Dement doesn't know about, it will default t…
- Merry Christmas! - 25 December 2020
Dement is on sale for $31.99 (-20%) until January 5th. You might have noticed the logo is a little different... while we haven't yet made an announcement for the Redesiccated Update, this is the new version of Lily from it (in a Christmas outfit of course). Figured we might as well do a little tease. ;) https://discord.gg/cCuTevA Join the Discord channel for earlier access to announcements, or just come and hang out!
- Dement 0.4.2.11 + 0.4.2.12 - 29 October 2020
Another minor update while the big update continues to be worked on. Guns should no longer fire when in any sort of menu. The left hand was slightly crooked - not any more! Improved performance of the main menu a little. Fixed some trees being square. Temporarily removed some markings on the map of Wolfvale that marked content not yet released. 0.4.2.12 EDIT : Flashlight pose has been updated to not be off-center, both for left and right handed modes. Now that the left hand isn't crooked, and the flashlight pose points forward, left handed players can rejoice that now the flashlight as well as guns aim straight.
- Dement 0.4.2.10 - 11 August 2020
This is just a small update that fixes that annoying bug making you unable to save when starting a new game under certain conditions. It also fixes the 'Delete Save' button continuing to say 'Confirm' after a save has been deleted. Game changing!~ It has been quite some time since an actual update has released. The game is still being actively worked on 8+ hours a day, and a major update is in the works. I really hope to be able to show it sometime soon. Trust me, I want this large update done way more than you do. ;)
- Dement Update 0.4.2.7 - 18 April 2020
This is a small patch that improves on the previous patch's new features. VISUALS Adjusted AO (Ambient Occlusion) to be less dense. Turned down film grain. GAMEPLAY Toggle Crouch height increased. Added new items and enemies (depending on what chapter you're on) to the Chapter 2-4 areas. SUPPRESSORS Suppressors now enter a low-durability state. On the standard suppressor, low durability means there are 3 shots left before breaking. On the heavy suppressor, it will mean there are 5 shots left before breaking. Gunshots from a gun with a low-durability suppressor will now produce an additional cracking sound. Unequipping a low-durability suppressor will discard it. Grabbing the suppressor on a gun will unequip the suppressor. Grabbing a holstered suppressor-capable weapon with that suppressor type in stock will (assuming the weapon isn't trading places in the holster with another weapon) "…
- Dement Update 0.4.2.6 - 4 April 2020
VISUALS Added CTAA - No more aliasing and specular highlight flicker. CTAA will be enabled by default, and Dynamic Resolution will be disabled. If, however, you prefer supersampling and dynamic resolution, the options are still there. CTAA and Dynamic Resolution can be used together, but some flickering may occur when resolution changes. Ambient Occlusion options expanded - Ground Truth Ambient Occlusion (the AO solution that was used at launch) has been added back in, but is incompatible with Dynamic Resolution. You may now choose whether to use GTAO or Unity AO (the AO solution that has been used since Dynamic Resolution was introduced). Enabling Dynamic Resolution while GTAO is enabled will disable GTAO and switch to Unity AO instead. Gamma Correction - The toggle has been replaced by a slider. It is recommended Vive and Vive Pro headsets leave this maxed, but users of other headsets…
- Dement Update 0.4.2.2 - 25 February 2020
A minor update, but a pretty significant quality of life change! Inventory now separates into categories. Last selection in any inventory category will now always be remembered, allowing a true "quick access" of sorts for each type of item. Tutorial - new information about finishing enemies has been placed. In order to keep an enemy dead for good (mostly), it needs to be continually hit until it actually dies. It'll make a death moan and blood will pool around it. Fixed frag grenades improperly applying splash damage under certain circumstances. Thanks for the support and suggestions, everyone. :) New content continues to be worked on! - Dement 0.4.2.1 Hotfix (c) - 12 February 2020
Another hotfix for the fight club update. One of the monetary rewards was bugged, and made loading the saved game break. Have no fear, your saves are safe- this patch will remove the broken item and give you your otherwise lost reward money. Just to be super safe though, backup saves that don't match the current version number will no longer be overwritten, in case of unforeseen catastrophe with an update. Thanks for playing!
- Dement 0.4.2.1 Hotfix (b) - 10 February 2020
Just a hotfix for the update yesterday. Capturing some types of enemies was bugged (gas grenades weren't having an effect), it is now fixed. The enemies at the locations you could buy tips for weren't spawning properly, that has been fixed as well. Additionally, the icon on the map was wrong - it was showing the stat boosting lock box icon, this is now fixed. To make up for any wasted gas grenades, if you started the fight club quest before this hotfix, your "capture reward" value will increase by 300 coins once, which should cover any lost expenses. ;)
- Dement 0.4.2.1 Content Update - 9 February 2020
It has been a while since an update has released for Dement, but we are still very hard at work behind the scenes. New areas are under construction, new characters are being written and voice acted, and interesting new gameplay is being developed. In the meantime, we hope you enjoy this new feature :) New Feature - Fight Club: In the forest of Quiet Mountain, disenfranchised Praesidium members gather. There, they study and fight monsters (and each other) in hand to hand combat. Purchase gas grenades and capture monsters for them. Defeat the captured monsters in the fighting ring to gain a copy of their research on that monster and some of the money from their betting pool! Capturing monsters yields a monetary reward as well, including duplicates. Capture multiple enemies at once with a single gas grenade to turn a profit! New Weapons - Grenades - flash, frag, and gas. Flashes and frags…
- Dement Update 0.4.1.9b - 10 January 2020
Very small update. Fixes sewer areas causing rendering both eye images in each eye. Minor sewer area performance increase. Re-enabled the colliders in the Lily Walk to prevent you from walking off of the path. Added glowing eyes to the rest of the enemies that have eyes.
- Dement 0.4.1.9 Update - 9 January 2020
A fairly minor update but a smooth running Wolfvale makes it worth it. Wolfvale no longer hitches when loading and unloading areas. Items have been added to Wolfvale. Prologue walk with Lily has had a visual overhaul and massive performance improvements. Buffed female sunken monster - they now switch between direct and predictive aiming, and account for gravity in their aim. Indoor versions no longer stagger to gunfire. They were meant to be a sort of support role monster but they just ended up being too weak, so this buff was much needed. Fixed some enemy footstep sounds not playing. Fixed enemy AI getting stuck in their attack animations get interrupted a certain way. Switched back to deferred rendering - further testing found it to perform better in most situations.
- Dement 0.4.1.8b Update - Performance - 31 December 2019
Whoops! I had to revert to the old version for a few hours, but now we are back up again! Optimized the heck out of Wolfvale - runs twice as fast now, from 16-18 ms frame times (even with the 0.4.1.8 improvements!) to 6-8 ms. Fixed a bug where getting pelted in the face by enemy projectiles could permanently blind you. Fixed an objective from Ch.4 not clearing properly. Fixed dead enemy blood pools from glowing insanely bright sometimes. The original 0.4.1.8 notes are below: Performance is important for VR games, and while Dement was playable, it could have been better. This update took a while to come out because I've been working on not just the performance boosts, but polishing some side areas a bit, making new ones, working on long side quest chains, and some enemies. Thank you for the patience and I hope you enjoy the new performance boosts to Dement! New areas and quests are getti…
- Dement 0.4.1.7 Update - 11 December 2019
Added new stat boosting items (temporary effects) Adrenaline - Increases stamina regeneration by 50% for 10 minutes Painkiller - Decreases damage received by 25% for 10 minutes Black Asphodel - Increases melee damage by 25% for 10 minutes Changed antidote's color to blue Added gauges to the UI to show the remaining time of these new effects Added all lockboxes that contain permanent stat boosting items into the game (at least the ones in areas currently available) Added more enemies to Quiet Mountain Increased the resolution of some textures using THE POWER OF AI TECHNOLOGY! ENHANCE! Added inspections for suppressors to give more information about their durability Added information to the tutorial regarding exhaustion - to be clear to everyone, DO NOT ATTACK WITH MELEE WHEN YOUR STAMINA BAR IS FLASHING RED. YOUR DAMAGE IS QUARTERED. ;) Changed the scale of the bath tubs in the Twin Elms…
- Dement 0.4.1.6 Update - 30 November 2019
Greetings, honored guests. The menu for today's update: Stealth updated - Sneaking is now possible while standing. To achieve this, you must walk slowly allowing at least one second to pass between footsteps. This information is also reflected in the tutorial now. Rejoice, for the achy breaky knees shall no longer taunt you. Gamma Correction profile updated - Playing on an Oculus headset and suffering from wicked color banding? Enabling this option will make Dement appear closer to how it should within the headset. It will make streams unwatchably dark, however. If you have never interacted with the gamma correction option, you will be prompted in the calibration phase to choose whether to enable it or not. I wholeheartedly do not recommend using it on headsets that do not require gamma correction. Inspecting items in the inventory will now vibrate the main hand controller to let you kn…
- Dement Update 0.4.1.5 - Non-Vive Control QOL Improvement - 26 November 2019
Hello everyone! Due to popular demand, an alternate control scheme for snap turning has been introduced. The old version is kept around for those of you who might not like snap turning, and would prefer to keep your controls centralized. Additionally, thumbstick interaction with the UI has been refined to not be so twitchy, and Index controllers can navigate the UI using either thumbstick or touchpad and get the expected results. The option to move snap turning to the thumbstick has been added. Reading notes and moving the map has been refined - slowed down, and will take the length of the document into consideration when determining scrolling speed. Index controllers can now use either thumbstick or touchpad to navigate the UI comfortably, including scrolling maps and notes.* (Note 1) Fixed a bug where going backwards in the very sunken upstairs of the police station would cause the bu…
- Dement Content Update V0.4.1.3 - 15 November 2019
A new shop has been added to the police station armory! Here you can buy more ammo if you're low, but the supply isn't infinite. Return later when you're low on ammo, I'm sure the police station will have resupplied by then. ;) Items for sale are mostly ammo, but there is a new gun you can purchase - the High Capacity 9mm Handgun! It has stats similar to the normal handgun, but has a capacity of 15+1 instead of 8+1. However, this gun is not threaded for a suppressor like the normal handgun. Trade-offs! Soon, you will be able to purchase frag and flash grenades from the store as well! This update also brings a number of bug fixes. Highlights include UI input for rift, and a game breaking bug if you started the game without both controllers being on. Please (PLEASE) report any bugs you find in the official bug report thread, and feel free to voice any suggestions, concerns, or ideas to im…
- 0.4.1.2 Hotfix Part 2 - 8 November 2019
Fixed those cosmetic issues in the Wolfvale parking structure mentioned in the part 1 notes. Re-named the Graphics quality buttons to better represent what they're actually doing in regards to texture resolution. Ultra is now "Full," High is now "Halved," Medium is now "Quartered," and "Plzno" is now "Eighthed" which isn't a word but it really should be. Player damage calculations are fixed. No more super easy mode for you easy mode players. Made ambient occlusion on by default. Added some feedback to all of the cupboards and drawers in the prologue, to make it clear that they are not meant to open. Fixed some issues in Wolfvale that might've caused some unwanted physics shenanigans. Index controller bindings should default to allow snap turning now.
