- News Ahead - 22 April 2026
Hey everyone! Just dropping in to share what’s been going on over the past few weeks with Multiverse Designer. There’s been quite a bit happening behind the scenes, so let’s get straight to it:Migration to Unreal 5.7.4We’re currently in the process of migrating the project to Unreal 5.7. As expected, this has taken up a fair amount of development time — it’s one of those changes that doesn’t immediately show in obvious ways, but is important for the foundation of the project. On the plus side, we’ve already managed to fix some visual bugs that had been around for a while, so things are gradually becoming more stable and consistent.New HUDWe’ve also made changes to the game’s HUD. The goal here was to improve navigation and make the overall experience more intuitive. There are still some details being refined, but the general flow is already much cleaner and easier to useWorld DesignerOne…

- November Update & New Tool - 27 November 2025
Its time to share the new updates and features we’ve been working since the Early access release. • Tutorial UpdateSome players pointed out that the intro tutorial felt a little bit confusing, so we went back and reworked it with that in mind. The messages are more direct, and we added images and short clips to make the early steps clearer.• Texture Transfer ToolWe added a new tool that lets you grab the texture from any asset and apply it to another one. With this new tool you can let your imagination free, mix and match colors, textures and patterns to create your entirely new and unique scenes. Anything is possible with it, you can play midas and turn everything to gold, or turn that old medieval tavern table into a modern glass desk.• Guest SeatsMasters can now see their total number of Guest Seats directly in the campaign menu, inside the Players tab.• D20 2024 RulesThe D20 2024 Rul…

- Multiverse Designer is now available on Steam! - 5 November 2025
It's been a long road. We started in 2020 in the middle of the pandemic, with the idea of creating a simple way to play RPGs online. And today, more than 5 years later, we are launching Multiverse Designer. Much has been done, but we still have many things to do. We already have almost 10,000 assets, we have Criteria, our rules creator, we have cutscenes, rain, snow, avatars, texture editors, lights and faces, splines, forests… And we also have a place to go: our next big goal is the Asset Spawner, which will automatically populate the maps. But most importantly: we need you. We want to hear from the community and we have been doing so since the launch of our Kickstarter. Send suggestions, bugs, ideas, and criticisms! All will be read and we will act on them. Lastly, and always, we want to thank our backers, who believed in us. You will always be in our hearts! The Toopan Games TeamAb…

- Steam Ealy Access release date changed - 30 June 2025
Hi everyone! We are working very hard to release Multiverse Designer as soon as possible, and we can't wait to put it in your hands and see what amazing creations you come up with. Unfortunately, development has slowed over the last weeks and things aren't at the state that we expected, so we won't be able to meet the original release date of Late Q2.We want to reassure you that it isn't a matter of being stuck in any specific roadblock: we just need more time to put the final work in the Early Access version of Multiverse Designer, particularly to implement some rules with Criteria, a painstaking work that takes a lot of our time. Our backers and beta testers can attest to the state of Multiverse Designer, and that the core product is already fully usable. The new expected release date is September; we are confident that Multiverse Designer will be ready for its Early Access release by…
- Multiverse Designer will release on Early Access very soon! - 12 May 2025
Hi everyone! We’ve got some big news to share with you, so let’s cut to the chase: Multiverse Designer will release on Steam Early Access in Late Q2 – that is, later this quarter! Very soon Multiverse Designer will be open to everyone. Now, this does not mean that we consider our virtual tabletop to be finished, or this one to be the version that we promised our backers when we did the Kickstarter campaign. Opening our doors to all users represents a great opportunity to gather some very useful feedback, test our strengths and limits, and of course potentially get more resources to keep growing Multiverse Designer even more. But we want to assure our backers that this Early Access release does not change our development priorities, and we will keep working towards the Full Release version of Multiverse Designer as hard as always. Mind you, despite acknowledging that there are still feat…
- Dev Diary #10: Moving players around and visual effects - 25 April 2025
Hi everyone! After a couple of weeks focusing on our Criteria Courses (which, incidentally, are still undergoing!), we want to focus on something else that we’re working on that is directly related to how you design and organize your campaigns. Back when we were doing the Kickstarter campaign, we received many questions about how players would be able to move between maps: would they have to join some sort of new session? Would GMs have to “teleport” them by hand? We knew those wouldn’t be an option (it would make for a poor gameplay experience), and that there would be a system in place for players to move between one setpiece and the next without needing to have everything in the same (huge) map – thus saving also resources in terms of computer power. But we hadn’t designed the specific solution yet. Now it’s time to solve that! So, up until now, we were using a pawn asset to define t…
- Dev Diary #9: Dice, Weapons, and Effects - 7 April 2025
Hi everyone! It’s been an intense week hard at work here at Toopan Games. We continue working on Criteria (don’t forget to check the first entry of the Criteria Course!), but in parallel, we are working on improving and/or expanding some features of the gaming module. We’ll go into more detail when all this is ready to be implemented in the next update, but we want to give you a small sneak peek at what will come next to Multiverse Designer. The first thing we’ve worked on lately seems very simple, but it’s actually very important, as it’s one of the things you’ll do the most when playing: rolling dice! In a nutshell, we’re making our dice roll faster. We realized (and some of the feedback we received during the Next Fest pointed in this direction too) that it took too long for dice to finish rolling. Funny thing is that our dice rolls aren’t just for show, that is, we don’t produce a r…
- Criteria Course #1 - 28 March 2025
Hi everyone! Now that the dust of the Steam Next Fest has settled, it’s time to resume our usual schedule of updating you about what we are working on in Multiverse Designer. Before moving on, though, we want to thank everyone who downloaded the demo and tinkered with it for a whole month, and of course, all the people who wishlisted it on Steam. The Fest was a massive boost for this project, and we appreciate all the attention, support, and useful feedback that we have received. Now, if you have checked, you will have realized that the demo isn’t available anymore – we de-listed it a few days ago, because we’re working on new features and soon it would be outdated. And what are we working on, you are surely asking? Well, there’s some cool stuff about spell effects, trigger areas, and weapon selection, but we will talk about that at a later date (probably next week). Because this week w…
- February Update is here! - 28 February 2025
Hi everyone! We're very happy to report that we just released the anticipated new update that we recently talked you about. It's one of the most important updates since we made the beta available to backers: you'll finally be able to play in the maps you have created with Multiverse Designer! As we already explained, along with the gameplay module we're implementing the first rules created with Criteria, although they're still very basic: rolling dice, HP and initiative tracking, movement, basic actions, character sheet editing, up to 20 common skills, and 3 spells. There's lots of work to do in terms of implementing rulesets, but at least now you can play and have the computer do the basic bookkeeping for you. This update also implements the Character Forge; check out how to access it in our latest post (and do send us your creations, you can get an extra invite to the beta!) As you kn…
- Send us your best creations with the Character Forge! - 25 February 2025
Hi everyone! First of all, we want to thank everyone for what’s been an incredible start to this Steam Next Fest. The number of downloads and wishlists has blown away all our expectations, and we have received very positive feedback and very interesting suggestions. We are incredibly grateful for your attention and kind words. Welcome to everyone who’s discovering Multiverse Designer now – and let’s keep it up, we’ve got 6 days to go! Having said that, there is a feature in the demo that we fear might pass under your radar, as we realize only now that it’s a bit too hidden. We’re talking about the Character Forge, which allows you to customize your in-game avatar. You can try to make it as close to that mental picture you have of your character – or let your imagination go wild and have fun creating the most bizarre characters! To highlight this feature, we want to propose you a creativ…

- New update coming, and Multiverse Designer comes to Steam Next Fest - 13 February 2025
Hey everyone! We’re happy to announce that there's a new update coming, and with some very anticipated features. It’s been a very busy month (you’ll see why), but this update is going to be one of the most important in a good while. The next update implements gameplay – at last, you will be able to play in the maps you create or download! It also comes with the first Criteria rules (so Multiverse Designer automatizes some of the bookkeeping and rules for you), although both things are still limited and a work-in-progress. Basically, we have implemented basic D&D-like rules: rolling dice, HP and initiative tracking, full character sheet editing, basic and special attacks, over 20 common skills (Hide, Spot, and many others) and 3 spells, namely fireball, lightning bolt, and cone of cold. It also includes two ready-to-play encounters – one against a wyvern and a second against humanoid mon…
- Dev Diary #8: Tutorials - 31 January 2025
Hey everyone! We're working hard on the next update of Multiverse Designer, which will be arriving very soon -- and with some surprises that we cannot reveal yet! But today we are announcing one thing that will surely change your experience using our tool for the better: we're implementing tutorials explaining how to use every feature of Multiverse Designer. From map to scene creation, hosting or joining a game, and using gameplay features, there will be tutorials available for you to feel the ropes, as you can see in these two screenshots: Multiverse Designer is a very deep tool, with lots of features and thousands of assets, and we understand that it can be overwhelming at first sight; that's why we think that these tutorials will be very important for new users in the long run. If you have specific requests or feedback about something that you think should definitely be covered in ou…
