It's been a long road but we're excited to announce the the follow-up to Krumit's Tale, Meteorfall: Bramble Royale, is now available! As you can tell, Bramble Royale is quite different than Krumit's Tale but shares a lot of the core DNA that connects all the games in the Meteorfall series: The wacky world of Meteorfall! Bruno, Greybeard, Rose, Mischief, Muldorf and all your favorites are back in action, along with new allies and enemies Roguelike deckbuilder where you add / remove cards and optimize your deck Bramble Royale is - by far - the biggest and most ambitious Meteorfall game yet, and we hope you'll enjoy it as much as we enjoyed making it. - Metorfall: Bramble Royale Trailer & Steam Page release - 8 August 2024
I'm excited to announce thath we've launched a trailer and Steam page for Meteorfall: Bramble Royale - the third game in the Meteorfall series and follow-up to Krumit! https://store.steampowered.com/app/2372950/Bramble_Royale_A_Meteorfall_Story/ Bramble Royale plays very differently than Krumit's Tale, but - like Krumit's Tale - is a fresh take on deckbuilders. It also features many of your favorite characters (and plenty of new ones!) In Bramble Royale, you'll build your team of 3 heroes and take to the arena to dominate your opponents. And of course, you'll be playing cards to do so. Between battles, you'll rest in Bramble Town, where you'll have an opportunity to improve your brawlers and build your deck. Once you're finished in Bramble Town, it's back to the arena, where you'll fight your next opponent. You'll need tactics and strategy to become the champion of the Bramble Roytale!

- February Content Update - 28 February 2021
The February update has arrived - apologies for cutting it a bit close! My Windows laptop had a battery swelling issue and I wasn't comfortable shipping an update unless I could standy to fix any Windows issues that came up. The good news is that I'm back online now! This update features a new enemy that will show up in the final dungeon - Cococat! Cococat was one of the deadliest and most hated enemies in the original Meteorfall: Journeys game. In Krumit's Tale, in addition to having deadly quick and piercing attacks, Cococat also punishes you on the board by causing tiles in the same row to require health to pick up. Rounding out the update are a couple new abilities, and a new perk, Magician, that adds a 'Push' action to all of your abilities that target enemies. It can be a difficult perk to make use of, but can be used to inflict more damage with burn as Greybeard, help trigger tra…
- The January Content Update - 20 January 2021
The January Content Update We're back from holiday and have some exciting new updates for Krumit's Tale! Krumit can now speak Chinese! We partnered with out publisher, Indienova, to add a world class Chinese localization of all Krumit's lines! After listening to Krumit in English for the past couple years, it was a bit surreal (and awesome!) to hear him speak Chinese. You can check out the Chinese VO in-game by language in-game to Simplfied Chinese. NG+9 Now Available Some of the most skilled players have blazed through New Game+8 and have been asking for a new challenge. This update introduces NG+9, which adds an additional modifier. The final NG+ level, NG+10, will be added in a future update. We've also rebalanced the earlier NG+ levels which add curses. Those NG+ levels will add curses to your deck in the 2nd and 3rd dungeon respectively, to make the first dungeon less punishing due…

How long can you survive before you're overwhelmed by a board full of bosses? New items: Wishing Lamp & Frost Trap We're also adding two brand new items! Frost Trap Varfa, Greybeard Pay 1 coin to arm this trap. Trigger: Apply freeze to enemies in the same row Wishing Lamp Neutral Choose: Gain 1 coin, restore 3 health, or restore 1 durability to a random item in your inventory New perk: Battlemage Battlemage Greybeard When you burn or freeze an enemy, reduce the cost of weapons in the same row by 2 We hope you enjoy this brand new content update, and have a saf…
- November Content Update - 24 November 2020
With Varfa out, the team has been focused on expanding out Krumit's Tale with free content update. The first update we have adds the following new features: New Mutation: Baron In this Mutation, you start out with the Privileged and Greedy perks, and gold carries over between dungeons. You'll amass a huge fortune of gold - but achieving the top score will require careful management of your resources. Baron can be accessed when starting a new run in the Mutation menu, and will occasionally show up during the daily challenge. New Perks: Bandit and Fencer We're also adding two new perks: Fencer (Bruno, Rose) When you parry an attack, restore 2 health Bandit (All heroes) Your attack is increased by 1 against solitary enemies but your deck size is decreased by 1 New tile: Liquid Armor We're also adding a new potion / item called Liquid Armor Liquid Armor (All heroes) Use to gain 3 block this…
- Varfa DLC - Now Available! - 21 October 2020
Hi folks! Super excited to announce new DLC for Krumit's Tale is now available! I'm rerunning a post from earlier about some details of what the DLC includes, along with some FAQ - check it out! ____________________________ We're excited to announce new DLC for Meteorfall: Krumit's Tale! This new DLC adds a brand new hero: Varfa the Ranger & her loyal companion, Orhu. Includes are more than 50 new items & abilities, several new perks, and a bunch of brand new gameplay mechanics. Your Loyal Companion With Varfa, we wanted to introduce a new type of minion to better reflect the unique capabilities of Orhu. Orhu works similarly to Muldorf's skeletal minions, but also has his own set of abilities. You can pay gold to unlock 3 tiers of abilities for Orhu. All of Orhu's abilities recharge after a certain number of rounds of combat. Depending on your playstyle and the deck you're building, you…
- Beware the Reaper's Curse! - 15 October 2020
We've prepared our spookiest update yet and are introducing a brand new Mutation mode called "Reaper's Curse"! It's available immediately for all players and can be accessed when you start a new 'Mutation Mode' game. It'll also come up periodically during the daily challenge, including an extra spooky challenge on Halloween (Oct 31) where the Reaper's Curse is guaranteed to show up. How does it work? Fight monsters and acquire items & abilities as normals. At some point, stairs to the next floor will be revealed and you can proceed up to the next level - or, you can stick around on the floor for a bit, acquiring tiles or fighting enemies. However, once the stairs are revealed, copies of Reaper's Curse are shuffled into the deck. While on the board, your max health is reduced for each copy; however, you'll also be awarded more points. It's dangerous to keep them around, but it's also how…

- [BETA] Rose Perk Rework + New Tiles - 21 September 2020
These changes are out today on the beta branch so that we can test them out, and will be on the default branch in the coming weeks. Rose's Starting Perk Rose's starting perk, which converts visible curses on the board into blessings, has proven more difficult than expected to use. While we feel good about her Queen of Shadow perk (corrupt enemies you attack), Rose 'Chosen' perk doesn't feel very impactful. In this update, we're reworking Rose's Chosen perk to read: When you remove or transform a visible curse, deal 2 piercing damage to enemies in the same row Effectively, the playing as Queen creates a bunch of dangerous waste (curses) on the board and it's up to Rose to clean it up. Removing a curse can be done through removing the curse (by paying the health cost) or by using any other card that transforms or removes curses (such as Demonic Chest or Kiki's Bow) New Keyword: Repent Ano…
- Introducing 'Explorer Mode' (Beta Branch) - 28 August 2020
A new, easier & more accessible mode is now live on the beta branch and will roll out to the default branch in the next couple weeks. Is Krumit's Tale Too Difficult? When I set out to design Krumit's Tale, I wanted to design a 'deeper' game than my previous game, Meteorfall: Journeys, while still retaining the accessibility that made the first game popular. While I succeeded on the 'deeper' part, I didn't quite succeed on the 'accessible' part. Early feedback from mobile reviewers and some long-time feedback on the Steam forums has made it clear - Krumit's Tale is too difficult for some folks. For a game designer, difficulty can be extremely challenging to get right. Too easy, and people beat the game on their first try and get bored quickly. Too difficult and many players just bounce off of the game, frustrated and upset. One of the number one reasons folks that have refunded on Steam…
- Krumit's Tale Project Retrospective and Launch Analysis - 14 August 2020
Just wanted to post a quick update! I wrote a project retrospective on Medium that I posted yesterday. It takes a look back at the development of Krumit's Tale: what worked, what didn't, and how the launch sales have looked so far. A couple interesting facts from the article: 1887 Hours worked (on programming, game design, marketing, answering emails / forums - does not include art, sound, or writing) 30,000 Lifetime wishlists $4,297.31 Highest amount of proceeds in a single day (July 23) 11,000 Copies sold $50,000 Lifetime proceeds since Early Access (proceeds = revenue - refunds - Steam's share) US, China, Russia Top 3 Countries in terms of units sold If you're curious to hear more about the business side of game dev and what it takes to launch a game, it's worth a quick read! - Krumit's Tale coming to Android & iOS on Aug 27! - 12 August 2020
Mark Your Calendar Hot on the heels of our Steam 1.0 release, we're getting ready to launch Krumit's Tale on Android and iOS on August 27! Where can I get it? Can I sync my PC progress? Yes! Although there are many solutions like Steam Cloud, iCloud, etc... to save your progress and sync between devices on the same platform, there isn't an easy way to sync between PC Mobile. We ended up building our own solution. To sync progress, there's an option in Settings > Last tab > Export Data. This generates a 5 digit ID. On your second device, you can go to Settings > Last tab > Import Data. This will copy over your progress form the first device (for instance a PC) to the second (eg: an iPhone or Android), allowing you to have all your heroes/tiles unlocked, as well as New Game+ levels. The sync isn't quite the same as Steam or iCloud where data is synced constantly. Instead, this solution is…
- Check out Krumit's Tale in the #tinyteams Steam Festival! - 9 August 2020
We're really honored to be part of the #tinyteams festival hosted by Yogscast! The Tiny Team festival helps highlight game that are built by small teams - teams with less than 1 to 3 core members. In the case of Krumit's Tale, the game was developed over an 18-24 month period through the efforts of just a few folks putting in extra hours after their day job. There's no physical studio, there aren't any team meetings. A lot of the work is done in before or after work, or late hours after the kids have gone to sleep. The big advantage we have is that by cutting down the process to the absolute minimum (out of necessity!), we're able to focus on just the most critical features and development tasks. We're distributed internationally and so a lot of the work is done independently, with internal discussions handled over Discord. We've actually never met in person! Core Members Eric did the g…
- Krumit's Tale has officially left Early Access! - 23 July 2020
What a journey! I originally started the earliest version of what became Krumit's tale back in 2018. After the release of Meteorfall: Journey for iOS and Android, I was trying to come up with a new game idea. I knew I wanted to do another card game and I knew I wanted to explore Meteorfall further, but I wasn't sure where to go next. Influences on Krumit's Tale I was influenced at the time by two things that I can recall. One was Card Crawl on iOS / Android by Tinytouchtales. I tried to imagine what a deeper version of that game might look like. Like Krumit's Tale, Card Crawl is also a game that shuffles your deck and the enemies together, and limits your potential actions by having inventory slots that where you have to put your items and abilities. Another influence from that period was Sage Solitaire by Zach Gage. I really liked the idea of 'piles of cards' that you had to clear. A l…
- Krumit's Tale is leaving Early Access on July 23! - 6 July 2020
It's been an amazing journey We're getting close to finishing up the Early Access phase for Meteorfall: Krumit's Tale! Since launching into Early Access in November 2019, we've expanded the game with three new heroes, more than 150 new cards, a Daily Challenge mode, and tons of other features and polish. A big thank you to the Krumit's Tale community! A lot of those changes were made in large part due to the feedback from dedicated players and fans who took the time to let us know what was working well and what wasn't. One of the hardest things about being an indie developer is working really hard on a project, and having it go unnoticed or unappreciated. I'm happy to say that it definitely wasn't the case with Krumit's Tale! The Krumit's Tale community filed over 700 pieces of feedback on our Discord, along with numerous other posts on Steam, Reddit, and elsewhere. We enjoyed reading b…
- BETA - Another week, another Rose update - 18 June 2020
Hi folks! Thanks for all the feedback so far on Rose on the beta branch! We're so happy that you all have been enjoying Rose and we've already gotten a lot of great feedback on her mechanics. Besides fixing bugs, we're also adding a couple of new tiles this week! We also complete reimplemented the encyclopedia. Most importantly, we added tabs for monsters, items, abilities, and special tiles. There may be some more features we add here later, but we think it's already much better than the current implementation. Full Patch Notes NEW- Encyclopedia has been update with tabs for different sections - RENOUNCE: Removed Renounce Light / Renounce Darkness from Rose's starting deck. Added Renounce - costs 0, restores 3 health, and always shifts you to whichever form you're not currently in. This should make it generally easier to switch between forms - EXORCISM: "Remove target blessing to destr…
