  • Have You Played… Old Gods Rising? - 23 October 2020

Have You Played? is an endless stream of game retrospectives. One a day, every day, perhaps for all time. Old Gods Rising came out relatively recently, but I’m asking if you have played it because I think more people should. It’s a first person exploration game with a few puzzles, where you play as a disgraced TV historian (as in, historian who had a TV show not a historian specialising in TV) who has been called to serve as the expert on a film set. The filming is taking place at a small and obscure UK university. Except when you turn up, the place is deserted. The director calls you on a long range walkie talkie and directs you around to look at a few locations, while claiming to be stuck at a farm location nearby. And needles to say, some strange things are afoot. (more…)

  • EXTRA CHAPTER ADDED - 23 July 2020

Old Gods Rising now has a new chapter that picks things back up immediately after the final credits have ended. Prepare yourself for the unexpected, as a total genre-flip sees Professor Winston continue his journey into the mysterious, dangerous world of the Old Gods. (Jump straight to the new section by typing OGR into the main menu screen) Additional fixes and improvements include: - Inverse mouse setting added - Increased mouse sensitivity control - Autosave system updated - Streaming system upgrades

  • Old Gods Rising Update - 26 May 2020

46 achievements are now available for Old Gods Rising. Issues with memory leakage have been fixed, which should improve streaming as well as general run-time performance. A new memory management system has been implemented. Collision bugs fixed.

  • Old Gods Rising review - 20 May 2020

Old Gods Rising review Don’t be fooled. No really. This well-crafted first person mystery (featuring some tentacles) is going to keep you guessing until the bitter end. * Developer: Bad Blood Studios; * Publisher: Bad Blood Studios; * Release: 21st May; * On: Windows; * From: Steam ; * Price: £15.50/€16.80/$20; It is a truth, universally acknowledged, that any veteran of BioWare who has been there in excess of a decade, must be in want of their own indie studio. Bad Blood Studios is one such independent venture, set up by a former BW art director named Hayden Duvall, and Old Gods Rising is its first game. It’s a creepy (if not outright horrific) first-person mystery set in a deserted university, with Lovecraftian elements. And if I can stretch the definition, it is probably the best Lovecraftian game I have played. I think this is because Old Gods Rising feels like the start…
