  • Update Info: Competitive Multiplayer - 19 January 2020

Hey all! Happy to announce competitive multiplayer is now available for testing. You can enter the queue from the home screen, when a match is found a dialog box will take you to the lobby. Once both players are in the lobby the game will start. Competitive multiplayer has a few special rules that were designed to: 1) limit the advantage provided by using a Scrabble word finder, 2) encourage players to play in the same parts of the board, and 3) limit distractions from existing free play features. These special rules & features: A list of suggested words (based on the contents of your tray) is displayed, and cycles every few seconds. Temporary bonus squares are generated at random when high-scoring moves are made. These bonus squares have new types and will appear in the vicinity of the generating move. They last for a limited number of moves, so you will need to act fast. Tiles can not…

  • Update Info: New Board Sizes & AI - 11 January 2020

Hey all! You can now select a board size when creating a game. There are a few preset options available: 10x10 50x50 100x100 (default) 200x200 400x400 There are a few places in the code where we assume boards are square, once I rewrite those, I'll drop the restrictions and allow basically any choice (within reasonable limits). The free-play default board will be 1000x1000 going forward just for fun. An AI opponent can be included when creating a game. This feature is on a trial basis. I've done some testing and it's been hard to make them 1) play like humans would, 2) use a reasonable amount of CPU on my servers, 3) not be ridiculously overpowered. I suspect they'll go through a few more iterations before they're actually fun to play against. There's now a tutorial that any new players on Steam will see when they first link their account. It's pretty short and has a gold reward for fini…

  • Bug Fix: Challenge Leaderboards - 7 January 2020

Challenge leaderboards will once again display, and missing scores have been back-filled.

  • Update Info: Steam Overlay & More! - 4 January 2020

Patch notes The Steam overlay should now correctly display throughout the game. The Options menu (accessible from the main menu) will let you toggle fullscreen. Fullscreen in general should be less finicky than it was before. A new challenge mode is available with a daily leaderboard. In Survival you have a limited supply of tiles, which can be replenished through pickups on the board. Your score is based on the number of tiles you can place in an hour (or until you run out!). I also wanted to share my work board, where I'm tracking what I'm working on and what's coming up next: you can see it here. If you have any questions or comments you can always reach me directly at [email protected], or in the Discussions section on Steam.

  • Update Info: Challenges - 22 December 2019

New game mode! Compete in single-player boards with special rules for the highest score. They can be accessed from the main menu. Thanks to everyone who's given this a shot so far, lots of good stuff still to come! Coming soon: New challenge game modes Rewards for placing on the leaderboard
