- Familiar Travels - Free to Own Forever! - 31 August 2025
Familiar Travels? More like.. Freemiliar Public Transportels!Starting September 1st, Familiar Travels Volume One will be completely FTP!Halftone Studios, in its infancy of reforming and slowly working on/releasing new, small scale visual novel projects has decided to release the first chapter of Familiar Travels completely free to own, forever. At the moment, Halftone Studios is spread to the nine-winds, a few projects having fizzled out and everyone starting and stopping new lives, in this crazy world it's hard to keep things together, so I (rose) am focusing my efforts on creating small projects, with similar writing/storytelling/music as Familiar Travels, there's no real release date on that, but I'll be posting updates on one place, My BlueskyI don't really post a lot on there, or use social media in general. So.. if you follow me you will not be subjected to too much random posting.…

- MAJOR Familiar Travels content update! - 26 June 2020
MAJOR Familiar Travels content update! Familiar Travels has received its final major update which provides a new gameplay mode for people who are struggling to obtain the character endings, or don't want to play every character arc to receive the true ending. Novel Mode! Novel Mode is not only a novel difficulty for gameplay, but is also in line with the traditional "visual novel" format, hence the name. Novel Mode features saving, and all the features you would expect, the major difference being the stories play out one after another, linearly, you can access the new novel mode from the main menu. Some other updates include: A viewable gallery from the main menu "extras" menu upon completion of the true ending (either in novel mode or regular mode) Several minor scenes have been added to character's arcs that previously were hidden or very difficult to access. A whole bunch of bug fixe…

- Release Build - Familiar Travels Chapter One - 19 September 2019
Alright Balin, I hear you say, what's so special about this build? We’ve improved animations, we’ve improved scene transitions and music and just about everything, we’re snuck in a bunch of extra scenes and easter eggs! If you’ve been waiting for a definitive build of Familiar Travels to snag to experience the game as it’s intended to be, this is that build. So, I’d like to summarize this build and the chapter two development with a less corporate, more personal letter: This has been an incredible month since the launch of the game. It’s been a bit of a bumpy launch, I remember telling someone else on the team that if we could just iron out some bugs for a month I’d be happy - But the support all of you guys have given in the development of the game, from giving me feedback (BTW, all of the feedback on the Steam page that was feasible to be added has been added) to joining in and engagi…
- Last Bug Fixes! - 11 September 2019
Short announcement, more to come! All the bugs should be gone! NIght 4 works now! Thank you guys for being so patient with this, steam's policy to not delay games despite us needing that desperately bit us in the tail a bit, but I'm happy to say this build is goood - Added a settings screen to the main menu - Fixed night 4
- Hurricane Update! - 9 September 2019
Okay! Fixed a few bugs that popped up after posting that build - major apologies! We got hit really hard and were without internet or power for a few days. Fixed the Night 4 and Day 7 bugs Fixed a bug with clicking items in the player's room Thanks for your patience guys! The build is uploading now and should be live within the next hour.
- Bonus Content, Bug Fixes, and More! - 7 September 2019
It's here! I mean, all of this stuff probably should have been here a little bit earlier but.. I'm happy to say I've taken all of the helpful suggestions and critiques from everyone who's played the game and applied a thick coat of polish over Chapter One, as well as a bunch of new scenes! So, here's the changelog. == Bug Fixes == - Grammar and Textbox Fixes Galore - You can now access your phone before Night Two, including settings, save/load etc. - Fixed a minor bug with background audio carrying over - Updated the introduction cutscene to have balanced audio and removed that.. green thing. - Time inconsistencies with the background characters have been removed - Removed every route error (textboxes vanishing, scenes locking up, etc) - Fixed a bug where Kaj's ending couldn't be accessed - Fixed invisible NPCs - Fixed a bug where the game would launch windowed (Is there interest in a w…
- Reviews + New Build! - 26 August 2019
A new build has been posted with extra scenes previously not included as well as most of the bugs out of the game! (All that should be left now is grammatical stuff I'm working through) So yeah! Another note with this: Please review the game! Good or bad reviews help our ranking in the store! Steam only counts reviews towards our official score if they are from people who purchased the game *on steam* in other words, not on kickstarter, humble bundle, etc. That's all! Going to move through these grammatical bugs, loving the community of this game and all the support you guys are giving towards it!
- NEW BUILD! - 22 August 2019
First things first, thank you for everyone who joined our discord server and helped report bugs. Although we have a diverse team of talented writers, composers, and artists, I am the only developer for the game so had a bit of a tough time getting through some of these bugs. I have added a day indicator at the start of each day and night, fixed the looping with every route, and added some QOL updates. In other words, the game is completely playable from start to finish. This is really the standard of quality that should have came out on release, and I deeply apologize for that not being the case. I imagine there still may be minor glitches and typos in the game, and any help with spotting those in our discord server is appreciated. Rest assured the second part won't be released until we are 100% stable and polished. Thank you all for your patience, and I hope you enjoy the game!
- Bug Fixes and Polish - 19 August 2019
Hello! A new build has been uploaded of Familiar Travels polishing a few bugs and making the gameplay more clear. We are a small team with an even smaller internal testing group so thank you guys for being so helpful in outlying these bugs and rest assured if you happen to run into anything that hurts your enjoyment of the game, I will personally do my best to make sure we get that fixed and a build re-uploaded ASAP More polishing builds will be coming in the days to come, and as a reminder you can join our discord and post about the game in there (including bugs and whatnot) Overall this latest build should be a much more enjoyable experience! (The build should be up in the next hour or so, just waiting for Steam to push it!)
