Latest Steam announcements
- Release - 18 June 2022
Hello everyone! You probably guessed it by now - with the events of the last years I have sadly been unable to finish the map editor. That said, the current build of R42 is free of known bugs and contains all content and features planned when early access was released plus the ability to record and share replays. After contemplating for quite a while I came to the conclusion that it is time to leave early access and release the game. If I get the chance to finish the editor in the future, it will be free dlc. Thank you to everyone that joined us in the early access journey! Stay healthy! Stay safe!
- Space 16 - 19 June 2020
Hello everyone! Yes, we are not dead. Life happened. 2020 happened. We are currently working on the editor used to make custom spaces that can be shared in the workshop. This is quite the time consuming process as custom spaces need to integrate into all other features smoothly. In the meantime here is the last of the early access spaces made by us - Space 16. Let us know what you think on our discord or community page. Stay healthy! Stay safe!
- Happy Holidays - 19 December 2019
Happy Holidays everyone! The digital natives are already celebrating ingame with their newly made Christmas outfits. Come join them! To make it easier, we even have a small gift for you and will be participating in the Steam Wintersale. We wish you all a happy time with your friends and family!
- Ghost Workshop Support - 11 December 2019
Hello everyone! It took a while but the first half of workshop support is finished! You can now share your personal ghosts on the Steam Workshop for other players to view and race against. To make this easier there is now a new sub-menu in the space select screen that allows management of local and downloaded ghosts per space. We are looking forward to the amazing times and tricks to be seen in our community's ghosts! As always let us know what you think on our discord or community page. Patchnotes: - Ghost sub-menu in space select enabled - Ghosts are now recorded to local storage - Local ghosts can be activated, deactivated and deleted - Ghosts can be published to the Steam Workshop - Workshop ghosts can be activated and deactivated ingame - The behavior of the loading screen has been improved - Added new base skin - Added new accessories
- Space 15 - 22 November 2019
Hello everyone! Space 15 is ready to be played and as promised in the last patch, we will release it immediately. The digital natives (AI) will now also be making use of customization. As always let us know what you think on our discord or community page. Patchnotes: - Added space 15 - AI uses avatar customization - Fixed a visual bug when targetting buttons on the newest oculus patch
- Avatar Customization - 13 November 2019
Hello everyone! As you might have realized we did not patch last week. We decided against bothering our players with a patch that would only remove the Halloween content and include some uncritical fixes. Especially since the skin will be back with this update anyway! Entering avatar customization. Accessed through the 'skin' tab in the space select screen you can now change your base skin and attach some accessories to your digital body. This will influence how your ghosts look and your avatar in multiplayer sessions. This includes ghosts uploaded to the workshop for other players (feature not yet done). For now we have 4 base skins and 6 accessory variations with more to come. We would also like to take this chance to announce that we will not be doing weekly patches going forward. That is because the remaining features (workshop!) will still take a lot of work and the core game is in…
- Weekly Patch 09 - 30 October 2019
Hello everyone! We have a little treat for you (no tricks involved!). The space select screen has been reworked and should be a lot easier to use now. We also included some settings and stats (ingame leaderboards!) for easy access. One of those is especially interesting to our veteran players: a second speed setting. In this mode your max speed as well as the effects of boosts are increased. You also have access to 3 manual boosts you can use on a button press. These refresh once you pass the finish line again. Can you handle the new challenges this brings? To accommodate for the higher speed and optional boosts we also reworked the player UI to better show your boosted speed and your remaining manual boosts. As always let us know what you think on our discord or community page. Patchnotes: - Reworked space select screen - Reworked player UI - Added high speed setting - Added ingame lea…
- Halloween - 28 October 2019
Happy Halloween everyone! We just wanted to let you know that there will be a small discount over the course of the halloween event (subject to steams system/times). The digital natives will also have a little treat for you if you join them within the next 8 days.
- Weekly Patch 08 - 22 October 2019
Hello everyone! This time we added 2 new beginner spaces at once. Even though both feature a kind of loop they are still very different. Next week will feature something for our expert players to look forward to. As always let us know what you think on our discord or community page. Patchnotes: - Added space 13 - Added space 14 - Spaces 07 and 08 had their difficulty dropped from expert to intermediate - Fixed an error in gravity calculations for space 10.
- Weekly Patch 07 - 16 October 2019
Patchnotes: - Added Ghosts to single player which will follow your latest routes. - Boost indicators of the speed UI recolored to show they are not 'bad' (red). - Improved performance on spaces 08 and 09.
- Weekly Patch 06 - 8 October 2019
Hello everyone! The long lost Space 10 arrived! Don't get lost in data space while you try and master it's series of jumps! Starting with this update AI will start the race with simulated progress. Why would they stop racing when you leave? Dataspace never sleeps! Tell us what you think about it on our discord or steam community forums. Patchnotes: - Added Space 10 - Added UI showing the placement of participants at the end of a session (this does not apply to infinite sessions!). - Added audio volume slider to options - AI will start the race in a pre-simulated state. - Improved AI performance and ability to incorporate looping through dataspace
- Multiplayer - 2 October 2019
Hey everyone! This week the first multiplayer mode made it into the game - Quickplay. As the name implies this will instantly get a game for you. The server will automatically throw up to 42 random players into the same space to compete and fill the remaining player slots with AI. Spaces will be rotated every 5 minutes. Of course if new players join and there is room, bots will get removed. Otherwise if there are more than 42 players, the server will try to reshuffle participants onto 2 different spaces. Private games with friends and customized game settings for multiplayer games will follow at a later date. I wish everyone a lot of fun with friends and strangers alike! Come say hi on our discord or steam community forums and find people to race with. Patchnotes: - Multiplayer -> Quickplay mode unlocked - Steam Rich Presence enabled so you can stalk your friends. - Racer UI was adjuste…

Hello everyone! Space 12 is here! It's the first time players will be able to approach infinity without falling. What do you think about the ups and downs of this space? Hello everyone! This week space 11 made it into the game! (Yes 10 is missing for now). I will not spoil much about this infinite tower. Instead I'll be looking forward to see how you 're going to approach it. Let us know your best time and tricks on discord or our community page. Have fun! Patchnotes: - Added space 11 - Replaced the visuals for speed boosts. - Fixed steam sometimes allowing you to start the game without first finishing to download all stages. - New players will be guided towards the control scheme menu on first start of R42 - Current version of the game shows in the main menu - We shifted confirm buttons in the menu away from triggers as some users experienced problems with this. - Updated images for vive controls in control schemes. Other setups will follow soon. - Slight improvements for AI pathing - Improved AI spawning in - Slight rebalancing of completion rate on s…
- Dataspace is here - 4 September 2019
https://cdn.steampulse.org/steam/asset?u=https%3A%2F%2Fsteamcdn-a.akamaihd.net%2Fsteamcommunity%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fclans%2F35599479%2F72d68f440dff5d7113e9203c57467ea803c45fc3.png Hey everyone! The unique property of dataspace is now in the game - all tracks behave like movement on a 4d torus would. What does that mean you might ask. Imagine me moving on earth. If I go in one direction long enough, I will return to where I started sooner or later. Now include falling and flying in this somehow and you are pretty close to what this does. Except for dataspace not being on a ball in space. In practice this means you can see each track infinitely repeating itself in all directions and you can travel in all directions and will eventually get back to where you started (which means more crazy shortcut ideas). Have fun!
