- The Weaver - OUT NOW! - 31 October 2025
It’s finally here! Thank you everyone for you patience as we navigated the difficult situations over this past year. Let me first start by thanking everyone for the support shown on our studio update post. It was truly overwhelming seeing how many of you took the time to comment or reach out to us, and it was so encouraging. Your well wishes went a long way to getting us across the line here, so thank you! The WeaverToday we are so excited for our first DLC Class: The Weaver. The Weaver, as you may have seen from the previews and the artwork, is a summoner class. She weaves adorable (mostly?) Pets to her side, in a brand new way to engage with Vault. With the all new Pet cards, you’ll be building a deck of superfriends to take into the fight, each with their own skills and abilities! We had a lot of debate as to how to frame the Weaver, in terms of skill level. She really does fit into t…

Pets were obviously going to be the centerpiece of the class, and once we decided on finite slots the moment of "you filled all your slots so now you can only replace, not add" was set in stone. From then on you need to use a variety of abilities, buffs, artifacts, pets and even a few attacks to buff AP and make your board hit (and sometimes block) even harder. But there's also a LOT of synergy in Unraveling (sacrificing) Pets, and...It's hard to even know how to write this post - AP buffing pets synergizes with your token Spiders since they also deal their AP as damage when Unravelled (even if you already attacked with them this turn). And any normal Pet keeps its AP when Unravelled so you can discard them and then draw them again and play them with whatever AP you buffed them too. A few kinds of Pet have ways to duplicate themselves, and then Unravel so you can play and duplicate them…

Pet CardsThe main power of Weaver relies on cute Pets, and they can be summoned by playing a Pet card. Pet is a new card type (similar to Ability, Attack and Buff), but different in a handful of ways:A Pet card has an Attack Power (AP) value stored on the card, and the value persists in a fight,Playing a Pet card will transform (Weave) the card into a Pet on the board. The card will not shuffle into Discard until the pet is un-summoned (Unravel).Pets will have various actions, and normally each Pet can perform one action every turn, including the turn they are summoned. Performing an action does not count as "playing" a card. There are a total of 5 Pet slots. Playing a Pet card when slots are full will Unravel the Pet in the desired slot first, and then Weave the Pet.Think of Pet cards as limited buffs that provide values over turn where you get full control of! One of the many difficult…

Josh and I wanted to make a summoner for years, but it was just one of a few ideas in the running for classes with unique ways of scaling over a fight. The missing piece of the puzzle was how to fit it into the game's existing UI - especially on mobile - but as soon as we started brainstorming about how to create an alternate version of the central UI to make space for Pets, the Weaver concept was born. Every class (and most enemies) in Vault have ways to get stronger and scarier every turn, and it was important to make Weaver feel fundamentally different. By limiting players to 5 Pet slots it forced making choices that make playing Pets feel very different to Buffs, but still leaving a ton of room for customization and growth over both individual battles and runs as a whole. The last piece of the puzzle is the Infest mechanic - playing effects on enemies that will trigger after you dea…

- An Update From The Team - 19 June 2025
Hey folks – time to come in here with a quick update on how things have gone over the last few months... I’ll be open to admitting that since our last update, the last few months have been the most challenging for the team here. Note: Before diving too far into this, I will eventually write a post-mortem article to help other developers who may find themselves in this position. I just need to be very careful with my words. But please feel free to share this story, and if you're a developer fearing the same issues, please reach out to me! Shu and I have spent the last 12-18 months getting the game ready for Mobile and Switch release, opting to bring this in house rather than outsourcing. We wanted the best possible product, and that includes our custom built cross-save system for players. We were proud of what we’d done, and excited to finally release on Switch at the start of April. The…

Switch Update Unfortunately, we’re still going through things with Nintendo here. We’re close and could get the all-clear to release any day now, however, at this stage, we don’t have any update as it's still out of our hands. Stay tuned for more updates, I’ll let everyone know as soon as its good to go! Bug Fixes A few small bugs and tweaks have been queued up on our local version here for a while now, so these will be bundled in. Thanks to anyone who has reported stuff here on the Discord server. Hey folks -- the wait is over, Vault of the Void: Nightmare is finally here! Thank you all for your patience as we put this together, I hope the wait is worth it! Before I dive into the details, I wanted to give a quick thank you for all the support for the mobile release, and also all the people who helped out making this release smooth by playing on the Beta Branch. This was instrumental in helping us squash as many little bugs as possible before going live. However, as usual, we’re on standby here for the next 48 hours to hotfix any issues we find! So please, if anything shows up, let us know in the Forums or on Discord! Thank you so much! Whats New? The goal of Nightmare was to get a smattering of content across several areas of game play, including some stuff we had been wanting to address for some time! Nightmare includes: 12 new Cards 12 new Artifacts 9 new Spells, including spec…

Beta Access Also, just a note, but Nightmare is up and running on the Public Beta Branch for Steam, as well as our different outlets for mobile. If you’re keen to give things a try early, you can switch to the Beta Branch on Steam by right clicking on the Vault of the Void in your Library -> Betas then select Beta from the dropdown. All progress is carried over between branches, and you should have no issue flicking between! Of course, feel free to head over to the Discord to chat about your thoughts, or if you have any issues! I have always been outspoken about keeping the price of Vault low, I want to make it as affordable for as many people as possible! Hello everyone! Very excited today to present the latest update for Vault, this time, geared towards newer and older players alike! Throughout the last few months, Vault has undergone a massive transformation to broaden the audience, with mobile progress still underway (more on that soon!). However, I really wanted to spend some time with some awesome new content for our current long timers as well! The team have been hard at work, so let's dive into what we have. - Update #65: Chinese New Year Event + Linux Update - 7 February 2024
Hello everyone! Very exciting little content patch here. Fun little events like these are something I've been wanting to do for awhile, and I’m excited to finally have the time and resources to be able to achieve them! Nian To celebrate Chinese New Year, Nian has managed to slip their way into Vault of the Void! A new, limited time Elite fight is available right now. Spawning on the second floor, you’ll have a chance to banish Nian and claim the Year of the Dragon deckback, as a trophy for your accomplishment! Nian will exit Vault for this year on February 26th, and then this deckback will be gone for good! Hopefully this is something you all enjoy! I have lots of plans for more of these throughout the year, so please let me know if it's something you’d like more of as well! Edit: just an update to this, I wish to appologise to everyone with the whole "timed event" thing. I've noticed a…
- Update #64: Steam Demo + Mac OS Support - 30 January 2024
Hello everyone -- I hope you’re all enjoying 2.0! Today marks the start of our commitment to the future of Vault of the Void! We’re well underway right now with mobile testing, and all is going very well. We’ve also started on some prototypes for the next class, and a special ingame event to come soon -- can’t wait to share more on that! MacOS Support! However, I’m pleased today to announce that Vault of the Void is available on Mac! You can now enjoy playing Vault on your Mac, and also have full access to Steam Cloud Save! So far reports have been good, but there are a few technical things we’re trying to work through. Firstly, I'm happy to say we got Retina display support working! However we still have an annoying issue where, on MacBooks with the notch, we currently can’t detect this, and therefore full screen gets pushed down a little. We are doing what we can to resolve this, but…

- 2.0 is Live + Traditional Chinese! - 15 January 2024
Hello everyone! I’ve been waiting to make this post for nearly 12 months, way back when I first started working on this huge rewrite. It’s been a long road, exciting, exhausting road, but today I can officially say... 2.0 is finally live! Beta Stats & Thank-yous I want to take the time to extend a huge thank you to all the people who helped make this possible. From the Internal testing team, all the way out to those of you who played on Beta Branch over the past 6 weeks. We’ve logged over 7,000 Runs and 100,000 fights, and without all your overwhelming support, 2.0 would never be as smooth as it (hopefully) is! Shu and I both appreciate you all for making our lives so much easier! Bugs and Issues Over the next 48 hours, Shu and I will be standing by to hotfix any issues right away that show up, so you might see a couple of random hotfixes dropping over the next little while!
