Starting today, The Elder Scrolls Online and Murder By Numbers are both free to keep from the digital store. Something for multiplayer dragon slayers and solo picross lovers alike. The Elder Scrolls Online is, well, The Elder Scrolls but online. The long-running MMO has been unlocking doors into every corner of Tamriel, most recently with the Necrom expansion’s otherworldly tentacles and massive mushrooms. It's good at accommodating solo players who are looking to scratch a Skyrim-sized itch - since the next Elder Scrolls is at least five years away . The latest freebies have arrived on the Epic Games Store , one of which is a rather fine MMO, and the other has you investigating a range of murders. Obviously, because it was mentioned in the headline, the MMO is The Elder Scrolls Online . Normally a $20 title, you can grab the massive game this week for nothing out of pocket. It is worth the download, in our opinion, as we find it a lovely and rather fun game. Honor’s boss is dead and she’s the primary suspect for foul play, meaning it’s time to roll up her sleeves and catch the real murderer. Unfortunately, Honor’s no detective, she just plays one on TV. Therein’s the setup for Murder By Numbers but it’s nowhere near as grim as it sounds because it also has a healthy coat of neon 90s paint. If you've ever found yourself cursing the lack of detective-themed mystery games with the sharp manga lines of a visual novel and the aggressively numerical puzzles of Picross, then it's time we had words. The developers of the bird dating simulator Hatoful Boyfriend have announced a new project called Murder By Numbers , a tale of mayhem and murder set in 1996 Hollywood. With the assistance of a reconnaissance robot she picked out of the garbage (which suggests to me that it's not an entirely true-to-life recreation of the '90s), TV detective Honor Mizrahi must turn her investigative talents to the real world when her boss is murdered—just minutes after he fired her from her hit show. The robot, Scout, will help Mizrahi uncover clues and solve puzzles, but the big hook is the very '90s-looking array of supporting characters to converse with and interrogate, designed by Hatoful Boyfriend director Hato Moa.
