• TERROR SQUID IS OUT NOW - 15 October 2020

  The time has finally come. After 13 months, a bus accident, two babies and a pandemic, TERROR SQUID is descending upon the world. The team would like to direct their warmest gratitude towards our awesome community. Without the fantastic feedback from our beta testers, we wouldn't have half the game we have today. It also wouldn't be half as difficult. We're blown away by how good you guys are at bullet hells. Thank you! Now, there's only thing one left to do. Become Terror.

• TERROR SQUID release date - 13 October 2020

  We started making this game 13 months ago. One bus accident, two babies and a pandemic later, it is finally finished. It's been a journey filled with ups and downs, but hopefully one that will end on a high. We can't wait for you all to get playing!

• Beta 4 out now! - 13 August 2020

  The final few pieces are falling together before release. We have now implemented both leaderboards and achievements. Who will be the top squid of the beta season? Who will conquer the coveted "Become Terror" achievement? As well as these new features, the new version also has a bunch of bug fixes. • Beta III: Through Pain Comes Enlightenment - 25 November 2019

  We have dug even deeper into the flesh of what was once a humble .exe running on a dusty arcade cabinet to deliver this new Beta. The entire game has been rewritten from the ground up. Mac and PC users will reap the rewards through buttery smooth performance and the first implementation of our replay system. In short, this Beta is mainly focused on under-the-hood stuff, but we hope you'll find it to be running a lot smoother than the last version. We would love to hear what you think, good or bad. • The Birth of TERROR SQUID - 9 September 2019

  This is a repost from a Medium Article I wrote right after TERROR SQUID won the Norwegian Gameplay Championships. It's written from a designers point of view, so it won't get into the nitty-gritty of the code. Terror Squid So I’ve decided to do this Tarantino-style and start with the ending, or result if you will. Terror Squid is an arcade action game in which you control a monster squid that is terrorising a planet with carpet bombs. Every game mechanic is tied to bombing. It’s how you move, it’s how you score, and it’s how you fail. The article below will make a lot more sense if you have at least looked at a bit of gameplay from the finished prototype: The Brief Tuesday, January 1st, 10 AM: The Norwegian Film Institute (The host of the event) releases the brief for the Norwegian Gameplay Championships of 2019. The theme is simply “Arcade”, along with a list of technical requirements…

We're really excited to hear what you think about it, so give these patch notes a quick read and get dodging! Gameplay - Scoring has been removed and replaced by a timer. The objective of the game is to survive for as long as possible. - Death is inevitable. There is no hope. - Towers and time bonuses have been removed, to make the game more survival-focused. - When the player gets hit, the game is over. - The player moves at a constant pace and cannot stop firing. - Added a dash mechanic to give the player more tools to survive. - New level system: Instead of the level and difficulty increasing along with the number of towers destroyed, the level increases every time…
