  • Devlog #173 - Roads that carve their own ground - 31 August 2026

A while back I mentioned how I finally turned my attention to the roads. What I didn't say is that once I started, I couldn't quite stop, so this past month has gone almost entirely into modifying the road tool to achieve what I had envisioned. The biggest part of that vision was to have the road now carving its own ground. Instead of lying on top of the terrain and hoping it works, the road cuts into a slope where it needs to, and builds itself up where the ground falls away, so it acts like a real road does. The ends don't just stop dead anymore, but seamlessly fade into the terrain. This opened up possibilities that were previously impossible with prebuilt roads. You can now place roads under ledges or along the top of a cliff and the road won't damage the vertical rock face... you cannot imagine the pains to have that implemented. Seeing a trail winding along a steep slope for the fir…

  • Devlog #172 - A new river system - 28 July 2026

I've wanted proper rivers in this game for a long time, and I finally built a system for them right inside Unity. You thread a line of nodes through a scene to set where the river runs, and the tool bakes that into a flowing ribbon of water. There's an in-editor River Tool so authoring one is pleasant instead of a chore. It came together faster than I'd expected, because under the hood it's the same idea as the road tool from last time, so a good deal of that code carried straight over and I didn't have to build the hard parts twice. Before this, every stretch of water was assembled by hand from flat quads, each placed and angled to meet the next. Still water wasn't so bad, but rivers were a real pain, and drops and waterfalls worse, since every change of height or direction meant nudging individual pieces into line and hoping the seams between them didn't show. The node system takes al…

  • Devlog #171 - Roads with a little more grit - 17 July 2026

The road tool I wrote about last time is in good enough shape now that I could finally turn to the roads themselves, which had been waiting on a proper look for far too long. The first change is the textures, which are gone and replaced outright. The new ones are built from photos I took out on hikes, real stone, dirt and gravel from the ground I walk on, instead of the placeholder surfaces I'd been using to get the system working. It sounds like a cosmetic detail, but a road is one of the surfaces your eye rests on most while you travel, so it makes a real difference to how grounded a place feels. The second change is that a road now has an actual profile. Because the roads are their own mesh sitting on top of the terrain rather than painted flat into it, a made road can rise off the ground with a crowned stone surface, the way a properly built road sits, while a worn path stays lower…

  • Devlog #170 - A combat grid that hugs the ground - 1 July 2026

Before the update itself, a quick hello, since this is the first devlog I'm posting on Steam. I'm the solo developer behind Call of Saregnar, an old-school single-player RPG, and every so often I write up whatever corner of the game I've been buried in. These logs have been running on Patreon for a while, which is why this one's numbered 170 rather than 1. From here they'll go up on Steam too, so the page doesn't sit quiet between the bigger announcements. Right, on to the actual work. The old combat grid was a flat rectangle laid over the scene. It worked, but it always looked like it was floating on top of the world instead of sitting in it. I've replaced it with a hexagonal grid built around a radius, and every cell now drapes over the real terrain and roads beneath it. Where a slope is too steep to fight on, the cell marks itself unwalkable, and characters sit on the surface properly…

Short description

A story-rich tactical RPG inspired by 90s classics. Explore a handcrafted medieval world, solve riddles, and fight in turn-based combat alongside a cast of live-action characters.

About this game

Under mysterious circumstances, people begin disappearing from the quiet village of Avanmoor, and the local lord is found murdered in his chambers. What starts as a simple hunt for an assassin soon draws an unlikely party—a dutiful knight, a young student of magic, and his roguish friend—into a conflict that reaches all the way to the gods themselves. Call of Saregnar is a story-rich tactical RPG inspired by the classics of the 90s. Explore a handcrafted medieval world, investigate mysteries, solve riddles, and battle enemies in thoughtful turn-based, hex-grid combat. Meet a whole cast of digitized live-action characters brought to life through thousands of frames of real actors. This is a grounded low-fantasy adventure with a relaxing pace, deep narrative focus, and a world full of handcrafted details. 90s-Inspired Old-School Visuals Experience a lovingly crafted low-poly 3D look enhanced with photorealistic textures. Every character you meet is portrayed by a real actor—captured through thousands of photographs and seamlessly integrated into the world. A Believable, Grounded Medieval World Saregnar lets you role-play through a deep, engaging story filled with murder, mystery, intrigue, and suspense. The world is an original fantasy setting inspired by various historical nations and cultures. You'll be pleased to find that we've evicted giant rats and slimes from this universe. Think, Read, and Pay Attention Call of Saregnar rewards careful observation. Clues are found in dialogue, notes, and the world around you. There are no quest markers —instead, your quest log records your conversations and discoveries, letting you piece together the truth on your own. Freedom to Explore Even though the story drives the adventure forward, the world remains open. Discover villages, forests, ruins, wild paths, hidden places, merchant caravans, and optional encounters—at your own pace. Prepare for The Journey Survival depends on preparation. Food, boots, blankets, oil for your bowstrings, sharp blades, and well-maintained armor all matter. Manage your belongings wisely before setting out into the wilderness. Tactical Turn-Based Combat Fight groups of varied enemies…

Steam marketplace comparison data

Price History Overview

USD uses SteamPulse's own locally recorded daily store snapshots, so this overview reflects the exact regional price history that SteamPulse has captured for this currency.

Coverage And Tracking Window

  • Snapshots: 1
  • Coverage: Sep 23, 2026 to Sep 23, 2026
  • Lowest observed: $0.00
  • Highest observed: $0.00

Call of Saregnar's USD price history spans from Sep 23, 2026 to Sep 23, 2026, with 1 recorded snapshot across 1 calendar day. Each row records the available final price, listed base price, and discount metadata for that observation. Within this coverage the lowest recorded price is $0.00, the highest is $0.00, and the first visible tracked price is $0.00. These comparisons apply only to the snapshots SteamPulse holds; missing observations can contain changes that are not represented here.

For USD, SteamPulse uses locally captured regional storefront snapshots and does not reconstruct older prices with exchange-rate conversion. The chart and table show the values recorded for this exact currency from the stated coverage start. Additional snapshots extend that record, but they do not fill unobserved days or prove what the storefront displayed between observations.

Discount Windows And Sale Timing

  • Discount windows: 0
  • Discounted days: 0 days
  • Deepest markdown: No discount tracked
  • Latest sale window: No sale window tracked

Call of Saregnar's tracked USD rows do not contain a discount window. This means no available snapshot in the stated coverage has usable discount metadata; it does not prove that the game was never discounted. Missing snapshots or archived rows without complete metadata can hide a sale, so SteamPulse does not infer pricing strategy from this absence.

If a later snapshot includes discount metadata, it will appear here with its recorded depth, price, date, and sale name when available. Until then, this section should be read only as a description of the available rows, not as evidence about the publisher's promotion policy.

Observed Price Changes And Stable Runs

  • Observed price drops: 0
  • Observed price rises: 0
  • Longest stable run: 1 day of uninterrupted daily tracking
  • Current run: 1 day of uninterrupted daily tracking

Outside rows carrying discount metadata, the tracked price has not recorded a separate price rise or drop yet. That means the observed undiscounted level has stayed stable across the snapshots SteamPulse currently holds. This is a statement about the recorded coverage only; it does not prove that an older or missing price change never happened.

The longest unchanged price stretch in the current record lasts 1 day of uninterrupted daily tracking at $0.00, from Sep 23, 2026 through Sep 23, 2026. Among rows without discount metadata, the longest unchanged run lasts 1 day of uninterrupted daily tracking at $0.00. The latest run records $0.00 for 1 day of uninterrupted daily tracking as the same recorded undiscounted price. Run lengths describe consecutive stored observations only and do not establish that a price is permanent.

Latest Snapshot And Sales Context

  • Current price: $0.00
  • Current list price: $0.00
  • Distinct observed prices: 1
  • Source mode: SteamPulse local tracking

The latest tracked snapshot records Call of Saregnar at $0.00 in USD, with no active discount metadata. Across the available history SteamPulse has recorded 1 distinct final price in this currency. This supports comparisons with the lowest, highest, and most common values present in the retained record, subject to the stated coverage limits.

The live sales view and Steam sales record provide calendar context for these dates. A date overlap can be compared with a named Steam event, but it does not prove why a publisher changed a price. As new daily rows arrive, this overview recalculates its observed prices, discount windows, and run lengths automatically.
