- State of the game - 30 June 2024
This is not an update with new features, nor a software release. In fact the game isn't changing at all, however it's now moving into being marked as released. Many have asked why there are no updates, and asked for more communication. And rightly so, as the game has been in early access for quite some time, and hasn't received an update for a lot of that time. So this is an official communication about the state of the game. Master Bladesmith was always an experimental game. This is especially true for the game's mechanics. This is fitting since it's a virtual reality game, and this is a new frontier for gaming, where developers have tried many different game mechanics and designs. The development of Master Bladesmith can only be described and a mish-mash of experimental mechanics. The ones that worked stayed, and the ones that didn't were thrown away (also some stayed that were not su…
- Mining and Washplant update - 1 March 2022
Major New Features: Washplant: There are new major changes that will require much more management of the mining. However this allows the players to better control which ore is being mined. Also, if you are in need of a specific ore quickly you can now spend more fuel to get what you need quicker. This should lower any advantage in leaving the game running to mine as the mining needs more direction than before. Panels: The 5 levels of panels have been completely redone: Ore selection slider: This now includes an ore selection slider which allows you to manually select the ore type you wish to mine. This replaces the previous mechanic of unlocking various ores by Time chamber (TC) level. For example, previously you needed to get to TC level 100 to get more nickel, now you need to buy the level 3 panel to allow nickel mining. Overdrive button: You can now choose to mine ore much more quick…

- Update 14: Mystery of the Museum finally revealed! - 23 April 2021
The Museum next to the starting area has been expanded to include multiple table displays. These tables are pedestals to display special relics that are collected in the time chamber. The Hanging Displays in the Museum are now functional and will display a duplicate of any pristine sword you are able to create! These hanging displays will show the pristine swords of the best quality material you have ever created, so if you create one with a higher material it will replace it. Upon reaching various tiers in the time chamber, the coverings on the table displays will be removed. The collected relics can be pieced together on the tables. The bottom side of the relics are identified by numerals that match up to the tables. - Bug Fixes 1 - 29 October 2020
The game has reached a point where it really needed to have a concentrated effort on reducing some of the Issues and bugs. Therefore this is a smaller update which addresses some of the long standing bugs. It's important to keep the game as playable as possible to the highest reasonable quality while in early access. The biggest change that players may notice are some visual fixes to the lathe and cooling pond. Full List of bugs/Issue fixes: Crafting: -Steam particles will now draw in the more realistic place ( over the hottest item in the cooling pond ) -The cooling pond will now continue to cool objects when you walk away without sacrificing optimization. -You can no longer piece together a blade if your ~crafting~ skill is
- Update 11: Coins, Shopping Crate, Bug fixes - 27 September 2020
Shopping Crate: Many players asked for this, so it's been made a reality. Once you unlock it by purchasing the voucher, you can now use a shopping crate to hold multiple items at once. You can throw as many items as you like into the crate and bring it to the scale with you to purchase multiple items at once! Coins: Coins and coin stacking have been completely reprogrammed from the bottom up to optimize stacking and eliminate frame dropping for large stacks of coins ( a must for end game ). Removing a coin from the stack will drop coins and line them up unevenly as they fall using custom physics. Coins are now more fluidly animated on battle rewards: Scale: The shopping scale code has been refactored. The rewrite improves item and coin parsing and optimization. The scale now supports better physics and the new coin stacking algorithm. Tongs and Scoop: Physics have been improved and inst…
- Update 10: Blade Stats and UI expansion - 29 July 2020

SWORDS The durabilty for the swords is now shown in multiple places. Smithing books show various listings for all the different ore types to let the player know the exact results of each creation: You can now see and compare blades on the stands when you place them there. It will give you a listing of the most important stats: On the wall you will see your combined blade power - showing you exactly how powerful your blades will be in the battle chamber: REWARDS The rewards listing gave WAY too much extra information that was largely usless and confusing to players. The game has been optimized heavily over the last week and will now run much smoother on lower end hardware. Shader complexity Shaders and materials have been tweaked to optimize render times and reduce polygon overdraw: before / after Texture Streaming 100's of textures have been edited to reduce texture streaming data. Here is one obvious example for heavy image data reduction: (12 x 2k textures became 1x 1k texture and compressed to greyscale): Engine Scalibility The game will now auto-detect your CPU and GPU and run and cache a benchmark. The engine will then scale video setting to best guess levels. If you would like to customize these settings they can be found at: C:\\Users\\YOUR_NAME\\AppData\\Local\\MasterBladesmith\\Saved\\Config\\WindowsNoEditor\\GameUserSettings.ini With settings 0 - 4: 0 representing Low, and 4 representing Cinematic ** note: in the near future these video…
