- Devlog 19.2: New World - 13 November 2022
Hello Everyone 😊, This build focuses on making the game more fun, more interactive, and more immersive. Players who have followed the development of Era will be able to notice differences in almost all facets of the game. From small subtle changes like how the clouds blend in with the sky, to bigger changes like the new trees and new main menu, this build aims to show Era of Survival at its very best. I will be close by whilst I immediately start on the new build, to spot any problems (if any arises) from this build and will even post another small update with fixes before the next release. I have tested this build myself and involved others and monitored them playing until I see nothing wrong anymore. What I can guarantee you, is that there are no bugs in the game that will stop you from playing until you fall over. I really hope this build wows those who have stuck by development all…

Watch me take on the world! I'll show you how to get Jack's basics sorted out, and then what's more to offer
- Devlog 19.1: Misty-Blue Afternoons - 5 December 2021
Hello Everyone, I am happy to bring you Devlog 19.1, a very special build for me. This is a build that I have carefully combed through piece by piece over the last few months. My goal was to rewrite code to make things simpler and faster. I will admit that my strong points aren't exactly 3D modeling and animation, so don't expect too many changes in those departments here. Instead, I focused on bug fixes and improving what would make the experience more chilling and fun immediately. I am happy to say that most of these fixed bugs are game breakers - so let's dig into a world where we never have to deal with all these problems again :) Loading/Saving Bugs: * Fixed a bug where all game timers would be 10 times slower after loading your game. Evident with a fire burning and cooking and day/night cycle speeds. * Fixed a bug where if you saved your game while it was raining, it would never s…
- Devlog 19: The Craftsman - 23 May 2021
Hello Everyone, This build focuses on improving the player's ability to craft things in the game. Using new placeable items like the Crafting Station and Multi-Tasking Station, players can now craft much faster and even two things at once! I also spent a considerable amount of time debugging various systems in the game, just to make things smoother. If you haven't yet, pick up your copy of Era of Survival and see what it's all about, or add Era of Survival to your wishlist and stay in the loop! And now.. The expansion of crafting in Era of Survival. Crafting Station - Tier 1 A crafting station lets players in close proximity to it, craft items faster. The station also opens up a 'Crafting Station Tier 1' Crafting section with items you can exclusively craft only when you're close to the crafting station. The tier 1 station will be used to craft advanced tools as well as the Multi-Taskin…
- Devlog 18: Kill or be killed - 12 March 2021
Hello Everyone, Today I bring you a new threat, new sounds, new foods, and some new UI touches. This build aims to make the grasslands a harsher place to live in. Here's what's new: Improvements to In-Game Chat I changed how chats are seen in-game but most of the work was in the background. Players benefit from having the chats take up less space and are easier to read than in previous builds. Load from last checkpoint When you die, you will now see a new button called 'Load from last Checkpoint' which you can use to reload your game from the last save, be it via autosave or manual. No running whilst aiming When you pull your wooden bow, as soon as you start to aim, you will no longer be able to run until you stop aiming. You may walk around still, but your target won't start walking instead of running too.. UI - Crafting I changed how the resource requirement per craft item is shown in…
- Devlog 17.3 Minor fixes - 18 February 2021
Hello Everyone, This is a small build that fixes minor UI, sound, and gameplay bugs. They are mainly to improve gameplay. Fixed an issue where fire would start on spawn Some players reported that when placing a fire, the flames would turn on when placed, even if there's no wood in it. Extinguishing the fire, then turning it on again solved it. This has been fixed and behaves as expected. Fixed an issue with draggy sound, caused by aSync To bring down RAM requirements for the game, music playing in-game streamed from the hard drive when needed, and no longer via RAM. This is okay when you have an SSD or a not-so-busy traditional hard drive, but some players experienced what I didn't want, stretchy sound.. Loading music from RAM brings RAM usage up again, so I managed to load only sounds that will be needed soon, versus loading all music when you load your world up. More cloth will now sp…
- Devlog 17.2: Key Mapping - 13 December 2020
Hello Everyone, This build brings new key mapping functionality to Era. With this, you can set any key on your keyboard for any action in-game. You can access the Input page via the Settings menu when in-game. Also included is a rotation indicator. When placing objects, this indicator will pop up in the top-left corner of the screen. You will still be able to access your saved worlds after updating. If you haven't yet, please consider showing your support and pick up your own copy of Era of Survival or wishlist Era of Survival :) Cheers for now, Jean
- Devlog 17.1: Bug fixes - 11 December 2020
Hello Everyone, This build mainly focuses on fixing bugs found across various gameplay elements (Construction, placement, game -> server optimizations to name a few). This build doesn't bring new big features, instead it's all about smoothing gameplay. Have a look at everything that's changed: I decided to retire the Decorative logs and Turnips, the logs contribute to fluctuating frame rates and the turnips are losing their place in the game's natural ecosystem with every new build we publish. Unfortunately, the turnips have become too foreign to the rest of the game objects. Resized in-game chat section on the server settings page Saving inventory optimized to fix rare occasions where the latest inventory items are not saved when force-quitting Adjusted rain intervals and changed the rain color When you cast your hook into the water, the splash didn't always splash Fixed bug where all…
- Devlog 17: Bigger fish to fry! - 28 November 2020
Hello Everyone, This build brings new features, new craftable items, new animals, new tools, new sounds, new animations, and a wide range of big and small bug fixes. This build introduces a new triangular wooden foundation, dams filled with fish, and a fishing rod to fight them out of the water. These changes bring new ways you can play and explore Era. Updated Start Menu To show what's possible with Era of Survival's build system, we decided to change the start menu screen. This structure took about 20 minutes to put together with InstaCraft and Creative mode enabled. New Animals We introduce 3 new fish, the Perch, the Pike, and the Trout. They can be found swimming together in dams minding their own business. If you cast your rod into the water, they might take the bait, or might pass on it. They may change their mind, patience is key in fishing. Every dam will have a different amount…
- Devlog 17 is coming! - 13 November 2020
Hello Everyone, I am currently knee-deep in works to complete Devlog 17. I'm bringing new features, resources, new equippable tools as well as new construction parts in this build, so there is quite a lot to do (and then test, test and test!). Without spoiling too much, here's a few new items that I have already incorporated and are ready for deployment through Devlog 17. New Fish Pike Perch Trout New String This build will also introduce a fishing pole and a fight to catch fish. I'm also making changes to the build system to allow a new type of foundation, which will give players more creative freedom when building houses. Thank you for being patient and thank you for your support ːsteamhappyː For now, the wait continues. Cheers! Jean
- Devlog 16: Hunters arise! - 31 October 2020
Hello Everyone, In this build, we wanted to expand construction, hunting, and self-defense. We also introduce bigger stones to mine from, the rest of your armor suit, and a hammer! There's also some adjustments we've made, and as our main priority - bash bugs. Unfortunately, custom key mapping could not make it into the final build and will have to roll over to our next build. This feature needs extensive testing to make sure it doesn't end up breaking game flow completely because of small errors. There's a few topics to cover here, so pull up a chair and your cup of coffee! I certainly did. The homemade Bow We're excited to finally get our players hands-on with our bow. This is how it works. To shoot an arrow, craft a bow and a few wooden arrows. Then put your bow in one of the slots in your belt and equip it. Hold Right Click on your mouse to load the bow. Once ready, press left click…
- Devlog 15: New Armor, new SFX, new features and more - 15 October 2020
Hello Everyone, In Devlog 15 we wanted to strengthen the player's ability to fight better and manage his stuff better whilst busy trying to survive. At the same time, we wanted to get the foundation ready for avatar clothing, and while we are at it, add a few new effects while we remove stuff that wasn't working out for our players. This build also comes with minor bug fixes and performance improvements. Ability to make and wear clothes So far we have built the entire back-end foundation so your avatar can have head, torso, legs and foot protection, across the multiplayer environment. In this build we have included two new armor items, the Leather Vest and the Leather Pants. These two items will provide the player with extra protection when the player gets hurt. The armor bar in your belt shows average health between all your armor. When you open your inventory, you can see the new Clot…
- It's Coming - 12 October 2020
Hello Everyone, Today we bring you a sneak peak of what Devlog 15 entails. The wait is almost over ːsteamhappyː https://scontent.fcpt4-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/121454608_179610633631975_3646418644763507951_o.jpg?_nc_cat=103&_nc_sid=730e14&_nc_eui2=AeFnOuJoevM-7GU_DWibdmdIX_Vj0dNm45pf9WPR02bjmrUcxSqElG4MoqXuNCxJw8Ecy2X1H_-L1Fclihj4R6Kd&_nc_ohc=jL6txmLrAGsAX-08aZr&_nc_ht=scontent.fcpt4-1.fna&oh=6c61dde8a1c428d6036ff6ab56878d5a&oe=5FABEDF0
- Small Update: Save your World - 2 September 2020
Hello Everyone, Just a small update to bring about some big change in gameplay. This build enables a move away from "playing offline" to "Single Player", we also fixed an issue with the player's belt and fixed a placement bug. Load and save Players can now create a new world through the Single Player option in the main menu. You name your world. Your world will autosave every 10 minutes, or you can save in the in-game settings menu or when going to the main menu. Players can create as many worlds as they like. Issue with belt There was an issue where the tools and weapons you have in your belt (the 5 slot strip at the bottom of the screen) would disappear when you exit and enter the game. This has been fixed. Placement bug A bug was present whereupon equipping a placeable item like a storage box, fireplace, or even a wall, initially placement would be denied by highlighting the object i…
- Devlog 14: The new Dawn - 23 August 2020
Hello Everyone, In this build we focused on bringing new features and enhancements to Era, we also addressed a few bugs and made changes which will dramatically improve the pace during gameplay. Tools and weapons have been strengthened and are more durable. We also changed the wolf and worked on his AI to make him a better enemy. Further we made effort to make this build our most stable yet. Admittedly, since Devlog 13, we have been through a rollercoaster in South Africa trying to dodge a humanitarian disaster due to covid, whilst same time trying to keep people from losing their jobs, houses and livelihoods. This balancing act by our government had - properly - shaken even the most remote resident of our country and had a devastating impact on the ground. Some describe our country's response as the harshest in the world, draconian even. I mention this because I feel that players need…
- DevPlay 03: First few minutes in game - 30 June 2020
Hello Everyone, In this video we show viewers what it's like in the first few minutes playing Era of Survival. Thanks for watching!
- Small update: Bug Fixes - 28 June 2020
Hello Everyone, Just a small update with a few minor bug fixes. Places of improvement: Small water bodies Tree placement Inventory Systems Death spawn screen More work is currently being done to reorganize code to remove any unwanted bugs. This in general provides better game play. Cheers, Jean
- Devlog 13: Bug bashing - 25 June 2020
Hi Everyone, For this build we decided to take a moment and start cleaning up bugs. Whilst this build mainly focuses on bugs, we also replaced the water well with something new, fixed character animations, polished the wolf some more and made a few convenience changes here and there. We also turned down the severity of heavy rains. We spent additional time testing on this build and would like to hear our players opinion on this build :) Without further delay, here we go! Bug Fixes Player dies over and over on the respawn screen This bug was due to the new Auto Heal feature that was introduced in Devlog 12. What happened was the server would Auto Heal dead players in its registry. If your avatars health was below zero and you died from cold, Auto Heal will increase your health to 1, the cold will decrease it by 1. Every time your health reaches or reaches below 0, the server spawns your…
- Online Server temporarily down - 24 June 2020
Hello Everyone, We have noticed a few hiccups with our online hosting partner (which is currently hosting our Online Server) over the past few weeks. As of now the server is offline yet again. We have decided to use this opportunity to migrate to a new, more stable service provider in due course. Please be patient while we complete this process. Our apologies for the inconvenience caused, we will communicate the outcome as soon as possible. Cheers, Jean
- Devlog 12: A cold, wet and lonely day - 9 June 2020
Hello Everyone, For Devlog 12 we focused on making the wolf more efficient and worked on his placement to give him a better chance against the player. We also completed work on the first part of bringing temperature to Era of Survival. We also fixed a few other bugs as well. Let's dive in: Temperature As of this build, players will now notice a new popup on the right side, above the belt, indicating your body temperature. There are many ways to influence this. When it rains and you're caught outside in the open, your player will get visibly wet. If you are wet, you will get much colder, especially if you stay outside in the rain. The raining itself will make you cold too. When you get too cold, you will die. On the other side, if you get too hot, you will burn - and get dehydrated quicker. New sound Previously when you used any medicinal supplies, your avatar would make an 'Ouch' sound.…
