The last devlog was a story of how Graviter came to life in the first place. This time I’d like to take a closer look at… the in-game story. Puzzle games deserve to have a story too. Even if it’s an absurd one. WE’RE GOING WEIRD Since the start of the development, it was obvious that Graviter will be set in space (pretty obvious). This led me to initially imagine some kind of an epic sci-fi story, where the gravity anomalies would play the main role. I quickly figured out that multi-layered plot is the last thing my little puzzle game needs and so the idea for a big, thrilling story went into the trash and I started to think about something completely different. The release of Graviter is fast approaching! I thought it could be a good moment to take a look back and go on an adventure through memory lane. NERD IS MAKING THE GAME I think that the true beginnings of Graviter we can track all the way back to the times when I was in high school. I remember very well one physics lesson - as you can guess the teacher was talking about gravity. Inspired by the lecture, I made a model of the Solar System in Unity engine. Bodes were experiencing realistic forces - in other words, nothing was on predetermined “tracks”. All movement has been simulated according to Newton's laws of physics. Yep, I used to be a physics nerd back then :p. It was just for fun and the fun came from my interest in physics. Hi, my name is Emil and I am a semi-solo developer of Graviter, a smart game about Gravity. Graviter is a real world physics based game about manipulating the gravitational forces. You shrink and enlarge bodies, move them around to find your way through over a hundred different levels of varying complexity. It not only features 101 diversified level of gravity issues but delivers a nice & instriguing story behind... Well, Graviter is semi-solo developer game. I did coding, game design, levels (101!), graphics. The nostalgic music you can hear in the game was created by Kai Engel. I mean it is semi-solo because some ideas have been Q&A-ed, polished and updated in collaboration with No Gravity Games. Hope you enjoy it!
