- Version 3.0.2 is live! - 13 May 2026
Folks, I’m happy to bring you a small patch, primarily fixing some minor issues reported from the last DLC! I've been busy grinding away on my new game, Blood Sword, as the demo is expected soon. I've been putting in the hours to get it ready for you all, so please wishlist it on Steam if you haven't already: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3645170/Blood_Sword/ In other news, there has been an official transition from Paul Gresty to another writing team on Fabled Lands Book 8. Unfortunately, Paul had to step down from completing the book due to life getting in the way. I am still very eager to bring Book 8 to this game eventually. Hopefully, that can happen sometime next year. Anyway, back to the grindstone! Here is the changelog for the latest update. Incremented version to 3.0.2 --- Updated Poleaxe rarity from Rare to Epic. Updated Salakar's Darkling Blade combat bonus, reduced to…
- Version 3.0.1c is live! - 10 January 2026
Folks, happy New Year – and happy to bring you the first patch of 2026!May the luck of the dice always be on your side, and your stamina never run out. In these uncertain times, I wish you hope, strength, and quiet moments with your family, friends, and loved ones. And may we keep returning to our magical gaming worlds – they make us braver and stronger.Stay safeI spent the holidays recharging my batteries and mentally gearing up for a big sprint ahead, with my upcoming game Blood Sword planned for 2026.I dug deep into hobbies. I played a lot of gamebooks. I finally completed Ori and the Will of the Wisps – something I’d wanted to do ever since finishing the first Ori. But what I enjoyed the most this winter was playing HeroQuest with my son."Hero Quest is the best game ever made and anyone who says otherwise is wrong!" :D My D&D itch hasn’t been scratched in years, and being able to fi…
- Version 3.0.1 is Live! - 30 November 2025
Before anything else I want to start with this absolutely amazing milestone! For the last 3 days we've sold 1700 copies, and that is entirely thanks to all of you. Your support, messages, streams have been incredible. I am genuinely grateful for the warm reception. Thank you. Now, onto the update This patch ended up touching more things than originally planned, because I did a full refactor of the resurrection system. Please do not ask me why I decided to do that right after launching a DLC. I was adding support for multiple resurrections and apparently decided to take a quick detour into the depths of my own codebase. One thing led to another and I vanished into the rabbit hole for a while. Everything should now work correctly, but because the resurrection logic has been rewritten from the ground up, I am keeping an eye on edge cases. If you spot a bug, please let me know! https://stor…
- The Castle of Lost Souls DLC Released! - 27 November 2025
Achievement Unlocked: Surprise Major Content Update Surprise! Didn’t expect this one to drop so suddenly, did you? Quietly working on a big content update with almost no marketing noise has apparently become my new jam - and today I finally get to reveal it: Fabled Lands – The Castle of Lost Souls, a substantial new questline that dives straight into one of the oldest and most fascinating corners of Fabled Lands history. And what better way to introduce it than with the incredible new cover art by Elena Katsarova, which I’ve been sitting on like a dragon hoarding treasure. I’m thrilled I can finally share it with all of you. This adventure has a special place in the gamebook timeline. Long before the modern Fabled Lands series, before Sokara and Golnir became the open-world playground we know today, Castle of Lost Souls appeared in White Dwarf magazine in the mid-80s, then as part of th…
- Big News! New DLC Announcement - Castle of Lost Souls - 10 November 2025
The Arch-fiend Slank stalks the land! Beyond the hills and haunted swamps, within the foul underworld where the sun never rises, lies the grim castle of the demon lord Slank. For centuries this infernal monster has plundered the souls of mortal beings, gathering them to his terrible abode to dwell in eternal torment. Now, the secret magic that can destroy Slank is known at last. You agree to undertake this perilous adventure - but can you rid the world of the demon’s evil shadow, or are you merely destined to become the next of his victims? The Underworld Opens At Last For the first time ever in Fabled Lands, you’ll be able to step into the Underworld – a realm that was originally intended to appear in the never-published Book 12, but only existed as a tantalising “one day…” in the lore. In this DLC, that “one day” finally arrives. Beneath the familiar fields of Golnir lies the Sodden B…

This means you can journey across Golnir, Sokara, and beyond from virtually any device - whether it’s a low-spec laptop or even your phone. The open world of Fabled Lands has never been more accessible. New content update incoming! And that’s not all. While you’re exploring on the cloud, I’m also working on a new content update that will expand the game with more quests, encounters, and polish. I’ll share more details soon, but let’s just say you’ll be venturing deeper than ever before - into places long whispered about, where shadows cling, demons stir, and the very air feels heavy with dread. For the first time…

- Version 2.1.3 – Spring Update & Future Plans - 19 April 2025
Hey adventurers! With Easter just around the corner, I want to wish you all a peaceful holiday, cozy spring vibes, and maybe a few extra hours of guilt-free adventuring. It’s been a while since the last patch (January, in fact!), and while this isn’t a massive update like the Bestiary or the DLC expansions, it’s a quality-of-life and maintenance patch based on some of the most common feedback and long-overdue polish I’ve been meaning to address. A few long-standing frustrations are finally put to rest. Also, I'm very pleased and honoured to announce that Fabled Lands has been curated and selected to participate in the upcoming Turn-Based Thursday Fest on Steam this June! It’s great to see the game recognized as part of the vibrant turn-based community — and a perfect excuse to revisit Harkuna and Ankon-Konu this summer. Let’s take a look. What's New? Until now, selling weapons depended…

- Tough old-school RPG Fabled Lands just got even tougher with this big update - 14 November 2024
Fabled Lands is one of those games that's really hard to classify. On one hand it's a narrative RPG version of a series of '90s gamebooks by authors Dave Morris and Jamie Thomson, similar to titles like Sorcery or The Warlock of Firetop Mountain. Then on the other side of things it's full of deep turn-based hex tile combat like Heroes of Might and Magic 3 or For The King 2. It straddles these genres smartly, and it just got even smarter thanks to a brand new update. Read the rest of the story...
- Introducing the Bestiary and Expanded Enemy Mechanics! - 13 November 2024
Version 2.1.0 – The Bestiary Update is here! I'm thrilled to bring you Fabled Lands' latest major update, packed with new features, improvements, and fixes. While this update might not be as massive as the last DLC, it’s still a big step forward for fans who crave immersion, exploration, and lore. With the addition of a full Bestiary, you can now track all your foes in one place - giving you a whole new way to interact with the world of Fabled Lands and its hidden secrets! What’s New? The biggest feature in this update is the Bestiary - a journal for every enemy you encounter in Fabled Lands. Think of it as your own Pokémon-style codex! With 158 unique enemies to discover, battle, and record, the Bestiary is your ultimate guide to the creatures and characters inhabiting this vast world. From the spectral Ghosts to the ruthless Avar Hordeth, every encounter now fills out this comprehensi…
- Version 2.0.6 is live! - 26 August 2024
I hope you’re all enjoying a peaceful summer and that the heat isn’t getting to you too much (here in my hometown, it’s downright brutal). This patch not only focuses on fixing the bugs reported by players in recent weeks but also on a more careful classification of the enemies in the game. This is an important step, not just because of the Extreme Prejudice update, but also in preparation for the upcoming patch I’m working on ;) Many people have mentioned seeing the world in a new light while trying to complete this achievement, and that brings me great joy, as it continues to demonstrate the scale of what the authors Dave Morris and Jamie Thomson created back in the ’90s. I also want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the new players who joined the ranks of adventurers in Fabled Lands this August, including during the recent promotional period. You’ve left me speechless once again…
- Version 2.0.5b is live! - 4 August 2024
Folks, I hope your summer is going well. I took some much-needed vacation with the family, only to fall ill afterwards, followed by my kids, turning it into an exhausting month. Nevertheless, things seem to be normalizing now, and I’m finally catching up on some much-needed sleep. Good coffee helps too! I’m happy to announce that this patch addresses the recent issues reported here on the Steam forums and on the official Discord server. For those of you interested in the development side of things, I've posted a thread on Twitter about my recent experience with the Godot engine. I’m seriously considering using this open-source gem for my next big game, which makes me very excited for the future, tech-wise! Here are the patch notes: Incremented version to 2.0.5b --- Updated how enemy types are counted for Extreme Prejudice achievement. Now counts per unique title of the enemy. Updated Av…

Updated Deck of Marked Cards, Sea-green Lens, Spectral Veil, Flintlock Mechanism and Enchanted Pickaxe tooltip. Important note: If you have saved exactly at the luck rolls that were fixed in this patch, your save is corrupted and applying 2.0.2 patch won't fix it. I can easily restore the save for you if you reach out on the offic…

Folks, my heartfelt thanks to all of you! I didn't expect this expansion to receive the warmth and interest it got on release day!
