- Hotfix for shadows - 31 October 2023
Hi all, The last update broke the shadows in the game so one puzzle was not solvable :( (I know the crew of Babylon 5 would love for the shadows to stay away but hey...) I fixed the issue and also made some performance improvements. Sorry for the inconvenience!
- All achievements now unlockable - 23 October 2023
Hi all, There is still no estimate on when the first room will be playable again. I had hoped for a quicker solution but it is what it is. Sorry :( Meanwhile, as a few of you have justifiably pointed out, it is not possible to get 100% on the achievements when half of them are locked away in the first room. So today's update adds a new button with which you can unlock all achievements for the first room. You still have to work for the ones in the second room but now it is possible to 100% the game. To those of you who were able to play the room at the beginning and earned their achievements honorably: you have my respect and I ask kindly that you don't feel offended by that decision and understand why it had to be made. Thank you for your support and happy completing ;)
- Translation work - 7 May 2022
- rest of Portuguese translation - some fixes and additions in other translations
- A few improvements - 22 April 2022
Hi everyone, the update to v2.2 contains the following: - new: autosave after each puzzle unlock, you can choose between your manual and the auto save when loading (so they are two separate savegames) - new: 8 players per room allowed (not sure if it is stable, let me know! Take care of your toes!) - new: first batch of Portuguese translation (thanks to Marina Herrmann) - new: 100% leaderboard for speedrunners of room 2 (Barbara's secret), you have to solve every puzzle, the order is not important. You can check the state by pressing F1, when there is no hint left you can leave - fixed loading with missing savegame - fixed duplicate resolutions in settings - fixed shadow opacity, so it won't make it impossible to read things - fixed the hugeness of the shoe (just a little bit :D)
- Fix for first door - 17 April 2022
- in some cases the door would not open for every player in multiplayer mode, which should now work
- Achievement fix! - 15 April 2022
Some achievements weren't unlocked after restarting the game, this should be fixed now :)
- Logging for achievements and hints - 14 April 2022
- better logging for achievements, if you are still having trouble unlocking certain achievements please send me your log file. it is called "output.log" and can be found here: C:\Users\YOUR_USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\Bitbeast Games\Escape Room - The Sick Colleague You can send it on the Discord or in the Steam forums or send an email to [email protected] Thanks! :) - more robust hint system, now showing less hints for already solved puzzles - changed the placement of some objects so you won't get stuck or the meaning of them becomes clearer
- Fix for Spanish subtitles - 12 April 2022
- subtitles are now played correctly in Spanish
- Achievement fixes - 10 April 2022
Some of you had problems with achievements not unlocking. This may be caused if the connection to Steam is not stable or if Steam is in offline mode. So I made a change that every achievement you get is "remembered" and in case it can't be sent to Steam, the game will try again at the next start of the game. You can now view the state of your achievements in the game under the stats in the main menu https://i.ibb.co/LNMXPdJ/local-Achievements.jpg Also, one special achievement should now be easier to get. ;)

- DLCs available right now! - 9 April 2022
Hi everyone! As already announced a few days ago, the DLCs for the game are now available. If you like the game, you can support it that way despite being free-to-play. You can buy them directly from the shop page of the main game. Thank you very much in advance! :) Furthermore, I would like to thank you for the positive feedback during the first few days. We had a packed crowd on the Discord, more than I ever expected. It was nice to see you helping each other out. Also, the found bugs were endured bravely ;) Next up will be the Spanish language integration for the second room. That update will come later today or tomorrow. Many thanks for that to SilverNox!

- Part 2 release date announcement - 3 April 2022
Hello everyone, Almost 19 months ago, the first part of "Escape Room - The Sick Colleague" got released. I never imagined it to be so popular and only your positive feedback kicked off the development of part 2. Thank you for that! It feels like ages ago and I have to thank you for your patience in not knowing an exact release date. So today I am very happy to be able to tell you, that part 2 will be available the next week on the 6th of April! :) My initial plan was to not only release the game but also two very minor DLCs you can spend money on if you want to support the game. However, I am still waiting for my new tax ID to arrive to be able to set a price for the DLCs on Steam. This has led to the situation for the last few days that I am not releasing a free game for which some of you have been waiting a long time for the reason of... money. And this seems ridiculous to me. So I wo…
- Download temporarily disabled - 25 January 2022
Dear players, Today I have sad news for you. The download of the game will have to be disabled temporarily in the next few days. The owners of the real-life escape room, on which "The Sick Colleague" is based, have contacted me and although they acknowledged the effort that went into the digital remake, they found it to be too similar. Therefore they have the rightful concern that someday someone might visit their real-life room knowing how to solve it already because of playing "The Sick Colleague". Because of that, we agreed to disable the download until I have changed it to a significant amount or until their room gets decommissioned one day. Changing the room would mean a lot of work and my priorities lie with the second room at the moment (which is around 80% finished right now). If you already downloaded and played the game you will still be able to do so. I will also keep the mul…
- State of progress for part 2 - 22 August 2021
Hi all, Sorry for the long time without updates but things are getting slower than I wished for them to be. This is mostly caused by my lack of modeling skills that I am still developing. The new room has a lot more "complex" objects and I tend to make them more detailed than maybe necessary. But I think this is good for my personal development so I will stick with it for now. Also, in my enthusiasm for modeling, I injured my arm and wasn't able to do anything for the whole month. :( At least I can say that a part of the room is almost finished so I am thinking about putting it on a beta branch so some of you may test it out and look for bad puzzle design. In other news, I got in contact with the great devs from Pine Studio. They are also developing an escape room game and we had a few good chats about the problems we are facing. Definitely feels good being able to cooperate with someon…
- About part 2 - 1 May 2021
Hi all, Today I am not writing about some bug fix or improvement on the game but about the progress on the second part of the game since many of you said they would play it rather sooner than later :) We are on the same page here, I would like to finish it as soon as possible while making sure the quality is the best I can do. The whole process takes longer as you might expect because like I already told on the Discord I have a day job to pay the bills and to keep the game free for everyone. That means programming more or less 8h and after that working on the game. Sadly this is not possible every day because often the job takes most of my brain energy away. So thinking about some clever puzzles was taking sooo long in the last weeks. I am planning to reduce my working hours from 40 to 30 per week to be able to focus a bit more on the game. I hope you are able to stay patient and unders…
