- Patch 0.9.1 released - 18 September 2020
Bug fixes: - The latest update introduced a bug that caused the game to crash when enemies used grenades. This should no longer happen. Other known issues are still being worked on.
- Game Update - v0.9.0 - 15 September 2020
This update adds a new mission type: Boss fights. Every 10 missions, you will have to face a unique enemy, that will put your team and your tactical acumen to the test. Defeat the boss, and you will be rewarded with a Unique item, in the same way as if you placed first in a weekly leaderboard. In the same way special objectives were introduced, boss fights will be added one at a time... meaning that at the moment there is only one, and more will come in the future :) Also a couple of new gear items have been added: the Fusion Reactor and the Enhanced Exoskeleton. Lastly, the Strong skill from the Grunt tree has changed slightly: now, in addition to ignoring the Unwieldy trait of equipped weapons, it also grants a bonus on the distance grenades can be thrown.
- Patch 0.8.1 released - 30 August 2020
Bug fixes: - The game did not handle correctly "square-ish" aspect ratios such as 16:10 or 4:3. Now the GUI should scale correctly in those cases too. Gameplay issues: - Some special objectives turned out to be too difficult, especially early in the game, when the team still lacks skills and equipment. Now special objectives scale with game progress. For example, early in the game the "Hack the terminals" special objective requires to hack only 2 terminals. Later in the game, the player will have to hack into 3 terminals, then 4. Other known issues are still being worked on.
- Game Update - v0.8.0 - 24 August 2020
This update adds a new Special Objective: Treasure Hunt. In this mission you will have to find and open a hidden chest, while keeping at bay the usual enemy waves. Also, among settings there is now an option to speed up enemy activations. If enabled, speeds up x3 all enemy units' activations, as long as they don't attack. If they attack, their move still happens at normal speed. This was a user request, and I think it turned out to be a nice idea, because it should speed up gameplay by reducing the time taken by enemy activations that have little or no effect on the player. Please note that this option is disabled by default, so if you wish to try it you have to enable it in the settings. Lastly, I fixed a bug on AT Grenades, that caused the game to crash whenever a match started with them equipped. See you on the next update!
- Game Update - 6 August 2020
This update adds a new Special Objective: King of the Hill. In this mission you will have to hold an objective on the map while keeping away the enemy for a given number of turns. This brings the total number of Special Objectives to a whopping 2. Yes, I know. Please be patient, more will come :) Also, I'm trying to change how grenade works. Now grenades never scatter, and always land where you aimed them. I realized that it could be somehow frustrating to pay the energy cost for the throw only to see it scatter the wrong way (or explode right in the face of the thrower). Also, the mechanics were not that clear to the player, so I chose to simplify them. By the way, this way of resolving grenade attacks also solves some collision issues that caused grenades to often detonate prematurely. Due to this change I also had to change the Grenadier skill from the Grunt skill tree. Now it simply…
- Game Update - 29 July 2020
This update introduces new special objectives to the matches. Well, to be honest right now there is only one special objective ("Hack the Terminals"), but more will come in the next updates. Every third match, you now have to complete a special objective match. This means that you won't be able to win just by killing enemies, but you will have to accomplish a specific task, that will be explained to you at the start of the match. Also, you might notice a new Standard Action in the action bar: "Use". At the moment, this action is needed only in the Hack the Terminals objective, but it might be used in the future to interact with the environment, for example by opening or closing doors, setting off explosives and such. I'm still working on that ;) Let me know what you think of the new objectives and, as always, any suggestion is welcome. See you on the next update!
- Game Update - 16 July 2020
This update adds a new tutorial to the game, that will teach you about skills and statuses, which are not, I realized, exceptionally intuitive... Yet you cannot go very far into the game without understanding how they work. Also, due to popular demand, the use of the WASD keys to control the camera panning is back. See you on the next update!
- Game Update - 8 July 2020
This update adds a new tutorial to the game, that will teach you about two fundamental concepts of the game: attacks and cover. See you on the next update!
- Game Update - 1 July 2020
This update introduces a new environment to battle into: the arctic planet. Hopefully, this will add some much needed variety into matches, as you might be sick of fighting in the same woods and bases over and over again. Now you can do the same, but with more snow :) Also, some players asked for a more detailed tutorial on how to play. Well, here it is. Now you can select to play tutorials on specific game aspects from the main menu. Ok, that might be a slight exaggeration: right now there is only one tutorial, which teaches camera controls, unit activation and movement. More will come, as there are many things that might benefit from a more in-depth explaination. See you on the next update.
- Game Update - 17 June 2020
This update introduces a few new things, as you might have guessed from the title. First of all, weekly leaderboards. Now you can see how you rank compared to other players. Each Monday, the scores reset and a new round of competition begins. You can check the leaderboard in the Statistics panel between matches. Of course, there can be no competition without prizes. Well, in-game prizes, at least. At the end of each week, you might receive one or more items (armor, weapon or piece of gear), depending on your ranking in the leaderboard. Last but not least, a new type of item is introduced: unique items! These items are tied to the account, not the current team, and once acquired can never be lost, even if the team member that equips them dies in a match, or a new game is started. The only way to acquire them is to be in the top 10% rankings of the weekly leaderboard... so good luck!
- Patch 0.1.5 released - 15 June 2020
Bug fixes: - The game crashed when the last unit in the initiative strip dies after taking damage at the start of its activation (e.g. due to the Burning status). This should no longer happen. - The game hanged when quitting to the main screen. This happened only when returning to the main screen multiple times during the same session. This was due to network issues, and should no longer happen. Other known issues are still being worked on. Thanks to everyone who took time to report those issues, I'm doing all I can to fix them all as soon as possible.
- Patch 0.1.4 released - 11 June 2020
Bug fixes: - The game should no longer crash when units teleport out. This was due to not handling correctly extra mouse clicks on the Teleport Out action. - The game no longer crashes when viewing the Statistics panel inbetween matches, after having dismissed a team member. - The camera sometimes behaved incorrectly. This was due to conflicting inputs from mouse, keyboard and automation. Now the camera can be controlled via mouse only (scroll wheel to zoom, middle button to pan and right button to rotate around). Pressing R still resets the camera. - The game sometimes crashed right after finishing a match. Again, this was due to not handling excessive mouse clicks, and should no longer happen. Other known issues are still being worked on, as they are proving to be somehow difficult to replicate and identify. Thanks to everyone who took time to report those issues, I'm doing all I can…
