  • Acolyte is OUT NOW! - 28 June 2022

The day has finally arrived. Acolyte - Superstring's ambitious natural language narrative ARG - is OUT NOW! And there's 10% off to celebrate launch. Acolyte is a narrative ARG/Detective game that gives you your own Acolyte; a digital assistant you can talk to freely with unlimited dialogue options. Just like a real conversation. Become an employee of Nanomax, a well-funded tech start-up looking to change the face of consumer AI with its upcoming Acolyte application. As a remote-worker for the company, you'll interact with its employees and absorb its culture. But unexplained firings, missing employees and a strange, highly-classified bug in the Acolyte code-base point to something being very wrong. If you've ever dreamed of having your own PA who you can solve crimes and take down corrupt institutions with, Acolyte will be right up your street. Watch the launch trailer here: There's not…

  • Huge Prologue Update & Overhaul Ahead of Full Game Release - 19 May 2022

It's been a while since we've updated Acolyte: Prologue, but today - alongside the full beta release of the game for Transcendent Edition owners - we've also rolled out all the fixes, improvements and additions to the final game, to the Prologue. This includes: More natural language dialogue responses Smoother conversation flow (although still work to be done here ahead of release) New Acolyte features (jokes/facts/games) New Customisation options ....and a host of other fixes and improvements. In addition to this, we've also released a brand new trailer for the game - showcasing the game's natural language input and ARG puzzles. IMPORTAT NOTE: Acolyte is still in the final phase of development where lots of bugs are purged, polish is added and generally the game comes together. You may still experience some issues. If you would like to wait for the final, polished version: please conti…

  • Welcome to Nanomax, the World of Acolyte - 7 April 2022

In our upcoming natural language ARG/Detective game, you are a character in the story -- not a character that you might assume the role of, but you. Today’s update aims to shine a bit of a light on the world that you’ll be immersing yourself in: the world of the technology company, Nanomax. You'll start the game as a new employee of the well-funded tech start up. Specifically, you’re brought on board as a QA tester for the company’s upcoming flagship product – the digital assistant and lifestyle companion app: Acolyte. In your role as a QA Tester for the product, you’ll be able to submit bugs, and generally help shape the ongoing development of the application. But the more you learn about its developers (your employers), the further down a disturbing rabbit hole you'll fall... Nanomax was founded by Fiona Nightingale. A tech-savant and poster-child of the AI scene. Fiona Nightingale’s…

  • Acolyte Brings on Board New Writing Talent - 12 August 2021

This has been a few months in the making, but we're excited to announce the additions of Olivia Wood and George Lockett (Bear//Wolf) to the Acolyte team, who are bringing their narrative design and writing talents to the table to help shape Acolyte's story, and flesh out the real-world ARG components of the game. Olivia and George bring their experiences with fantastic narrative titles such as Sunless Skies, Fallen London and Where the Water Tastes Like Wine. With early work now coming through the doors - including early iterations of innovative new ARG puzzles - it's safe to say the full version of Acolyte will be dramatically expanding on what's been laid down in the Prologue. We can't wait so share more from development in the weeks to come... For more regular updates, please follow Superstring on Twitter.

  • Acolyte Prologue v1.1 Update - 8 March 2021

Back in January we released an early version of our new narrative game, Acolyte. Before development of the full game continues, we were keen to roll out a little update to the Prologue which addresses some frequent requests and issues, and improves the overall user experience. In the v1.1 Update - available now! - players can benefit from: New resolution options (and persistence between sessions) New dialogue options Expanded vocabulary Light Mode - dark text on light backgrounds, for those that find reading easier Improved UX and key information delivery Various fixes and improvements To those that have yet to play the game, there's no better time. But that's not to say there's not still work to do! Please continue to reach out with your thoughts and feedback, and your comments will be channelled into the ongoing development of the full game. Until next time, Jamin

  • Acolyte 2021 Roadmap - 1 February 2021

As development of Acolyte continues, we wanted to put out a roadmap for the year ahead, which will let players know what to expect and when from now up until release (you can wishlist the full game here!). The dates presented here are a best approximation at time of writing. Acolyte is developed by one person, so the timelines can shimmy about a fair bit quite easily. I will aim to update the roadmap on a monthly-or-so basis to keep things up to date. To everybody that's played the Prologue and shared their thoughts so far: big thanks! Your feedback is shaping the ongoing development, and genuinely making the game a better, tighter experience. You can expect some of these improvements to be rolled out shortly with the v1.1 Update to the Prologue very shortly. More soon. Jamin

  • Update #1 | An Acolyte Launch Day FAQ - 11 January 2021

Announce day! Ahh! Thank you to everybody that has checked out the game so far; it's been amazing to see people chatting with their Acolytes for the first time and getting absorbed in the world of the game. If you've not checked out the game's in-fiction Announce trailer yet, have a gander: Superstring has been hard at work on Acolyte since the launch of our first game, Headspun, and today we've finally revealed it to the world. Not only that, we've released a playable demo, and people are literally playing it right now. Scary stuff. Acolyte is still in development, with the Prologue acting as a vital tool for improving the dialogue and story flow, and building towards the full release. In the short time the game has been available, we've had a bunch of questions come through, so I thought I'd assemble an FAQ here for the benefit of the masses. If you have a question that isn't covered…
