- It looks like the Splinter Cell remake might be about to reappear after years in the dark - 8 April 2024
Ubisoft might be taking this whole stealth thing a bit far when it comes to their remake of the original Splinter Cell . News of Sam Fisher’s return first snuck out at the end of 2021 , with little more spotlight than a brief blog post to confirm that, yep, it’s a thing. After over two years of near-silence, it now looks like it might finally be time for Sam to emerge out of the shadows. Read more

- Splinter Cell remake team share concept art before “going dark for a little while” - 18 November 2022
If you miss Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell ’s three-eyed stealth monger Sam Fisher as much as I do then take a look below at some newly shared concept art from Ubisoft’s upcoming remake of the original game. It’s the first time we’ve got anything close to a glimpse of the remake, still in its early prototyping stage, could look like. The seven slices of concept art were shown as part of Splinter Cell’s 20th anniversary. Read more
- The Splinter Cell remake's stealth needs to be simple - 12 March 2022
In Chaos Theory, the third and arguably the best Splinter Cell game, there's a moment that's always stuck with me. I'm upside-down, shimmying along a pipe on the ceiling to cross over a fire that's burning below, like a very trim spit-roast hog dressed in jet black neoprene. When I'm about halfway along the pipe, a goon pokes his head through the doorway ahead of me; in a two-second storm of sheer instinct, I let go of the pipe with my hands, hanging completely upside-down by my legs, draw my silenced pistol, take a single shot - plip - and the man crumples into a pile before me. What makes this Mission: Impossible moment memorable is its rarity in a game that's about 90% pure stealth. Sam Fisher has an impressive array of acrobatic skills, like the aforementioned upside-down shot, a split-jump that lets him straddle narrow corridors, and the ability to grab enemies while hanging from t…
- Ubisoft announces Splinter Cell remake from Far Cry 6 studio - 15 December 2021
Ubisoft announced that Ubisoft Toronto is working on a remake of Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell using the Snowdrop engine, which is also being used for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and Ubisoft’s Star Wars game. The company posted a look back at Splinter Cell history as well as a lengthy interview with three key members of the team responsible for bringing back Sam Fisher. “To me, a remake takes what you’d do in a remaster and goes a little bit further with it,” explains producer Matt West when asked about what makes this game a full-on remake as opposed to a remaster. “Although we're still in the very earliest stages of development, what we're trying to do is make sure the spirit of the early games remains intact, in all of the ways that gave early Splinter Cell its identity. So, as we're building it from the ground up, we're going to update it visually, as well as some of…
- A new Splinter Cell game has reportedly been greenlit - 19 October 2021
It looks like we might be getting a new Splinter Cell game , and Ubisoft could reveal it as early as next year. VGC reports that the developer has greenlit its first mainline game in the series for close to a decade in a bid to win back fans who have been frustrated by recent efforts to "revive the franchise" on mobile and VR platforms. VGC also reports that it isn't clear which studios are working on the project, though sources suggest that a studio outside of Montreal is leading development. The game is reportedly still in the early phases of production, but there's still a tiny chance Ubisoft could reveal it next year. We've reached out to Ubisoft for comment and will update this story if we hear back. The most recent Splinter Cell game we got was Blacklist back in 2013, though Ubisoft has revealed that a VR game and Netflix series is in the works. Quizzed about the lull in mainline…
- Watch the new Tom Clancy game reveal here today - 19 July 2021
Today, Ubisoft will announce a new game in the "Tom Clancy's" universe, but don't get your hopes up for a new Splinter Cell just yet. While Ubisoft themselves haven't said much about what they're revealing, a few snippets of gameplay have already been released, and it sure looks like Call Of Duty: The Division. I shan't knock it until we've seen more, however, so come join us at 7pm BST (11am PT) to catch the reveal stream. Read more
- Every video game show from Netflix's Geeked Week stream - 11 June 2021
Netflix are hot for video games lately, with their number of animated and live-action adaptations now into double digits. Their E3 stream today brought news of even more, including announcements of a Far Cry: Blood Dragon cartoon and casting for their live-action Resident Evil. It has Lance Reddick! But by and large, their stream was a weird shrug with so little information that all they had on one show was a logo. But hey, here's what they had on Cuphead, Castlevania, Splinter Cell, League Of Legends, and others. Read more

- Rainbow Six Siege's new gadget will let more operators blast through reinforced walls - 17 August 2020
It’s exciting enough when Rainbow Six Siege gets a new operator, let alone one that’s a well-loved sneaky boy from Splinter Cell. Ubisoft revealed last week that Sam Fisher would be making an appearance in the tactical team-based shoot ’em up, and last night they showed the gadgets and abilities he’ll be bringing with him to the game’s next update, Operation Shadow Legacy. He’s not the only exciting thing on the way, though, because there are a bunch of reworks and changes coming to improve how you play Siege across the board. (more…)
- Splinter Cell's Sam Fisher is sneaking into Rainbow Six Siege - 11 August 2020
Three green eyes lurk in the shadows of Rainbow Six Siege , which means it’s time for Tom Clancy stealth buff Sam Fisher to join the wargames. Expect more intel on the ageing sneaker’s career change alongside the update’s full reveal this Sunday. (more…)
- Splinter Cell may return as an animated Netflix series - 30 July 2020
Tom Clancy is anime now. At least he will be, with the reported announcement of an animated series based on long-dormant sneak ’em up Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell . While he’s been out of the videogame space a long time, it seems like Netflix and Ubisoft are bringing Sam Fisher back via the streaming service, greenlighting a two-season adaptation that probably promises plenty of awfully dark frames punctuated by green dots and neck-snapping noises. (more…)
- Ghost Recon Breakpoint teams up with Splinter Cell's Sam Fisher today - 24 March 2020
Ubisoft’s stealth star Sam Fisher has been laying low, with nary a Splinter Cell game since 2013’s Blacklist and only a scant few cameo appearances. He’s popped back up on the radar again today with a guest spot in Ghost Recon Breakpoint , teaming up with the spec ops squad who specialise in higher bodycounts. He pops up in a new chain of story missions, though you’ll need to pay to get all of them. Today also brings a big ol’ update for Breakpoint, including a new “immersive” mode without RPG-y gear levels. (more…)
- Splinter Cell could have been a James Bond game - 4 February 2014
Before it became a stealth series powerhouse, Ubisoft's renowned Splinter Cell franchise had a lot of trouble getting off the ground. It got so bad that at one point the then-fledgling developer even pitched the original game as a James Bond title.
- Splinter Cell Movie Is Happening, Tom Hardy Starring as Sam Fisher - 14 November 2012
Assassin's Creed isn't the only movie that Ubisoft wants to get to the silver screen as soon as possible. Rumors from earlier this year that Ubisoft was looking at making a Splinter Cell movie appear to have been well-founded, according to Variety. And what's more, the movie's got a star. British actor Tom Hardy is reportedly on board to star as Sam Fisher, operative extraordinaire. Hardy most recently took to the silver screen as masked villain Bane in The Dark Knight Rises earlier this year. He also featured in Inception , Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy , and the sadly disappointing Star Trek: Nemesis . The Splinter Cell game franchise dates back to 2002. The last was 2010's Conviction ; the next is 2013's Blacklist . Tom Hardy game for 'Splinter Cell' movie
