- Psycho Patrol R Early Access release date and trailer - 6 February 2025
Our new game Psycho Patrol R is coming out as an Early Access game on March 31st 2025. Here's the trailer on youtube. That's all! https://store.steampowered.com/app/1907590/Psycho_Patrol_R/
- Psycho Patrol R - 1 July 2024
Hey everyone, as you may have noticed Cruelty Squad hasn't released many updates anymore, that's because it's done, and also because we're actively working on a new game, Psycho Patrol R. It is a mech combat and tactical fps hybrid, you should check the steam page and our twitter for more information. Remember to wishlist!
- Another batch of achievements - 3 February 2024
I added some more achievements for everyone complaining about lack of challenge. Enjoy.
- Achievements - 1 February 2024
Hey everyone, I added achievements for completing each of the levels. I know I said I wouldn't but I honestly just couldn't be bothered figuring out how they work. More will come later but I don't have the time right now.
- Minor fix - 8 July 2023
Fixed Funkgrunters not showing up. Save handling should be less fragile now, and shouldn't crash the game if the save file is corrupt. Small mystery change that you won't figure out for a couple of weeks.
- Fix of fix of fix - 3 July 2023
Had to pull the earlier update because Godot 3.5.2 handles pathfinding differently than the earlier versions, but it's now updated to use the new system and should work properly. There may still be smaller bugs related to the version change and I'll fix them if they come up. Also a few fixes I forgot to mention in the earlier update: Brains are now visible Appendix has a unique model (It was already made, just forgot to use it)
- Issue with pathfinding - 3 July 2023
Due to the newer version of Godot handling pathfinding differently enemies can't really find their way anymore so I'm making the latest version a beta branch until I can fix this properly. Sorry about this mess.
- Ohohoho ohnoooo - 3 July 2023
Fixed Ballsfish crashing the game
- Ballsfish and more - 3 July 2023
Hey everyone, here's a small update. Added "Ballsfish" Updated the game engine to Godot 3.5.2, might have some improvements in performance. Added missing descriptions for companies on the stock market. New dialogue in Miner's Miracle Speed booster damage penalty no longer applies to toxic damage. That's all for now.
- Armor fix - 27 March 2023
Armor and speed booster damage penalties should now actually work. If you've been using armor it has probably been pointless until now.
- Small patch - 14 November 2021
Fixed the infinite jump glitch. ???
- Minor update - 4 October 2021
Added a new hidden implant somewhere. Nothing huge just felt like adding something.
- Cruelty Squad review: this game is too cool for me, probably - 29 June 2021
Cruelty Squad didn't click with me, not because of its grinning antagonism or brain grating lofi, but because I didn’t find it all that interesting. I’m sort of rooting for it, still, thumbing its leprous nose-cavity at inexplicable Steam bestsellers that won’t be out for six months. Still, I signed up to have awful soup, made from Clippy’s wire entrails and melted immersive sim floppy disks, spooned on my eyeballs. What I got was a reasonably tense shooter with some extensively labyrinthine level design and, to be fair, a very good shotgun. Read more
- Cruelty Squad is an FPS "set in a sewage infused garbage world" - 19 June 2021
Cruelty Squad has the aesthetic of early to mid '90s first-person shooters. No, not Doom and Quake. I'm talking about the trash you don't remember. The hyper-violence, the purple lighting, the repeating textures, the art assets rendered at wildly variable resolutions, the faintly cyberpunk themes. It's out now on Steam and there's a sensorally aggressive trailer below. Read more
- Minor Patch - 18 June 2021
Crush detection was somewhat broken and would sometimes kill you for no reason, it's now disabled until I can figure out a way to do it reliably.
- Cruelty Squad 1.0 released! - 16 June 2021
Cruelty Squad is now finally out of early access! Changes since the last EA build: New level. New ending. New weapon. New unlockable game mode. Extended organ markets. Two new implants. New dialogue for some targets. Pain. Changes during the early access period: Lots of optimization and bug fixing, compared to the initial release it's possible to run the game on much lower end computers. Controls are smoother, now possible to go up stairs without getting stuck on everything. 6 new levels. (Technically 5 completely new ones, but one was turned into a fully playable level.) 2 new endings. 8 new weapons. 17 new implants. Hidden new game+ type of thing. New enemy types. Stock market simulation. Organ harvesting integrated with the stock market. Fishing integrated with the stock market. (70+ different fish to find!) And lots of other minor things that I can't remember right now. Big thanks t…
- Cruelty Squad 1.0 Release Announcement - 4 June 2021
The full game is releasing on June 16th. I will be posting a full change log once the game is released, but for now you can watch a new gameplay trailer on youtube. Show it to your friends and help spread the word. Thanks a lot to everyone who has played the game and participated in the early access, it would have taken significantly longer to reach this point without an active supportive community.
- Beta Build - 21 May 2021
Hey everyone. I just released a new beta build of the game. You'll have manually to enable it in the game's settings on Steam. I'm not recommending this version unless you absolutely want to see all the latest content before everyone else, or you actually want to help get the game ready for full release. Consider everything to be work in progress. If you're on the fence I would recommend waiting for the release build to experience the new content. Differences to the regular build, for now: New level, unlocked by beating all the other levels. New ending. Stuff I want to add before the game is ready for release: At least one new weapon. More fish for the new levels that don't have any yet, including the final one. More organs for different enemies. Better representation of in-game companies on the stock market. Some nice unlockable for beating the game. From now on until release the focus…
- Minor patch - 20 May 2021
Changed the automatic save backups a bit, that's it. All the bigger changes before the full release will happen on an opt-in beta build. I'll hopefully have more news about that next week. Keep consuming. CEO, Consumer Softproducts
