- Kickstarter Launch Announcement - 5 November 2021
We’re excited to announce that our Kickstarter campaign for The Cartesian Project will be going live on November 8th, 2021! We’ve been working on this game for several years and we’re hopeful that this Kickstarter campaign will give us the funding we need to finally bring the game to market. Check it out here! We've also released our promo trailer earlier this week, check it out below! The Kickstarter will be live for 30 days: November 8th to December 7th. We’ve provided a ton of details about the lore and mechanics of the game, and have included concept art and in-game footage! We have a wide variety of tiers, from $2 up to $2500, so give them a read to see what might interest you! We sincerely appreciate everyone supporting our Kickstarter as well as those watching from the sidelines, and thank you to all who have helped us get this far already!
- Multiplayer Update - 13 October 2021
We're happy to announce that The Cartesian Project officially has functional multiplayer through Steam! Our initial PvP workaround involved everyone on the team generating the same level in their game, jumping on a Discord group chat, and racing to see who could get to the end first. Though we had a lot of fun, it required each of us to have at least two monitors to watch and play while still feeling like a single-player experience. In our latest update, we’re now able to create lobbies through Steam where everyone joins a lobby, entering the same level automatically when the host starts the game. Though the current experience has a long way to go, the game represents each player as a floating head with a colored aura. With the Kickstarter starting soon, we will have more to show off in the coming months. We still need to work on specific aspects of the multiplayer experience before a f…

- Kickstarter Announcement - 16 September 2021
Last Shot Studios is a small team with limited resources so it is crucial we explore all opportunities available to ensure we make this game the best that it can be. We are starting a Kickstarter campaign in the near future to help grow the team and support the realization of our vision for this game. With your help, we can achieve this together as a community. Kickstarter allows us to incorporate suggestions from game testers and community members early on in the game’s development cycle. Funding the Kickstarter would allow us to instantly grow the team, and could lead this project beyond our expectations. Through Kickstarter, we can gauge people’s interest in the game and receive the necessary feedback we need to bring The Cartesian Project to the next level. Our Kickstarter campaign goal is $75,000 CAD. This will cover the costs of music production, creation of sound effects, more ar…
- Welcome to the Cartesian Project - 21 August 2021
Welcome to the Last Shot Studios Blog! Last Shot Studios is a small indie game development studio based in Toronto, Canada. We have been working on The Cartesian Project for over 5 years now. The Cartesian Project is a first-person platformer set in a procedurally generated world. We’ve developed our own game engine to create this world of endless possibilities. We’ve had to take on multiple roles to get the game to where it is now. We were pleasantly surprised by the overwhelmingly positive feedback we received when we demoed a pre-alpha build of the game at EGLX 2019. We will be sharing more content and information about the game and its development in the coming months, including screenshots, videos, and a gameplay demo. We are aiming to use this blog for delivering content updates, development progress, as well as describing the obstacles and challenges intrinsic to indie game devel…
