  • 4 More Years of Horror Movie Bingo - 30 July 2024

It's been 4 years since I've touched this, and I don't like it when old games break, so a few major things are fixed as of today! The game should now support all monitors now! Previously, only 1080p monitors worked. The website has been updated, and you can now use PartyPack.tv to connect to the game. More code cleanup to make future work easier, and ported the code to the newest version of Gamemaker Studio. Email me if you have any questions, and I hope you enjoy Horror Movie Bingo! -Jaime

  • The night after Horror Movie Bingo - 22 October 2020

A huge thank you to everyone who purchased Horror Movie Bingo - I'm continuing to make improvements and keep the feedback coming! The big announcement here is that the "Stream mode" I added was confusing people, and honestly, I'm not sure this game is the right place for that mode to belong. It's not even listed as a feature on the main page or trailer so people weren't even expecting it. I've removed it as an option to make everything smoother and tighter. It isn't gone completely yet - simply type the letters t, e, a, m, in that order, and you'll get the mode back. I will likely remove it from this release unless there is overwhelming feedback to keep it in. The features are honestly overkill for people that are playing with just friends and people they trust, and I think it's best to keep this game to its original vision of playing bingo with friends and family. Removed Stream Mode f…

  • The night before Horror Movie Bingo - 20 October 2020

It's the last update before everything goes live! Special thanks to the Game Makers Guild of Boston for giving some great insights on Monday. I'm really excited to see what more people think about the game and as always, I'd love to get your feedback. Here are the list of improvements and fixes I made to the game before launch: I got some feedback from the Game Makers Guild that they wanted the same 24 spaces to appear on everyone's bingo card. There was a situation where some of them had a funny space and they laughed when they saw it, but the people who didn't have that space felt like they missed out on something but they didn't know what. I didn't like how they felt, so now a single game will always have the same 24 spaces. But if you play again, you might get a different 24. There is a credits page! And on that page there are instructions for how to activate the secret Ghost Girl B…

  • It's basically perfect - 14 October 2020

I've wrapped up some major features and fixes that came out of the BroTeam stream on Twitch (https://www.twitch.tv/broteam). The game is now running extremely smoothly, and I haven't encountered any more crash bugs! There was a crash bug where someone could join a game, but if they closed their browser before they got a bingo card, clicking on their card in the game would crash the game (because the card didn't exist in the database). This was a lot trickier than I thought to fix, but it's all better now, and if you happen to reopen your browser and get in, it will actually let you into the game to play! On that note, if someone's card is not loaded, there will be a big red X on their card indicating that you can't click on it. Previously, if you refreshed the bingo card on your phone, it would clear the card on your phone, but not in the game, leading to confusion. That's fixed now! A…

  • 60 players at once - 13 October 2020

A special thank you to BroTeam for giving this game a try on Twitch (https://www.twitch.tv/broteam). I made a special version of the game and we had 60 players playing at once, and oh boy are there a lot of fixes because of it. Usernames are now restricted to letters, numbers, underscore, dash, space, and exclamation point. Emojis are no longer allowed because they break things. Fixed a bug where the large bingo card wouldn't go away when the red X was pressed The "Validate Bingo" button only shows up when someone has actually claimed a bingo Every 0.75, the game would collect all the bingo cards. Except with 60 bingo cards, that started to interrupt the ability to stream. So the check for bingo cards is delayed as more people join the game, so it doesn't break your stream. It doesn't make for the smoothest experience, but it also won't crush a stream now. Something I am prioritizing is…

  • Play to win - 11 October 2020

It's a week and a half from launch and I've made some serious improvements to the UI. Things are not only better for people streaming this, but they're also better for everyone. You can now click on a small bingo card to see the full version of that player's card Other UI improvements for people streaming on 720p Next on my list is the ability to zoom out and see more than 12 bingo cards on the main display. Looking forward to getting this game in your hands soon! Thanks! -Jaime

  • Stability update - 9 October 2020

Great news! I've finally squashed the last elusive bug in the game, and it was terrrrrrible. For those of you that like to understand more about game development, here's the story: Have you ever played a game where your phone was the controller and then suddenly you got disconnected and you couldn't get back into the game? Well most games use a thing called websockets to make the connection happen, and they are fantastic (and cheap and insanely fast) when everything goes right. But when something goes wrong, it takes a ton of work to recover someone to the right place. Which means there's always something you don't account for that can mess you up. My games run on APIs instead - so you tell the server you want something and it says "here's where you're at" and you can always stay up-to-date, even if something goes wrong. Just reload the page, or pull up your browser history, and you're…
