- Work in progress - Into The Darkness VR - 14 April 2023
Hey guys! Welcome to our latest devlog update for Into The Darkness VR! We're excited to share our progress with you and showcase two new features that we are working on (so you will see rougher versions of the gifs). The first feature we want to highlight is the advanced ability of one of our robots, which is capable of performing lightning-fast dodges and destroying bullets with its weapon. Fighting this robot will require strategic planning and quick reflexes, making for an intense gameplay experience. Our second feature is the ice climbing system, which will be utilized in various stages throughout the game. Our mechanics are still a work in progress, but we've made great strides in creating a realistic and engaging experience. With the use of ice axes, players will need to climb their way to various locations (but put your concerns away, the whole game won't be about climbing). As…

- Development Update - Into The Darkness VR - 17 January 2023
Hey guys! Welcome to another devlog! Today, we'll give you a quick update on the progress of Into the Darkness VR. Each of the team members is in the process of developing their big components and it's hard to show anything specific at the moment. We understand that the technical details of rebuilding the Unreal Engine to extract more performance may not be interesting (so we will not bore you with that), but we want to assure you that we're making every effort to create a game that uses the full potential of PCVR. We've recorded a sneak peek of one of the game's rifles in action. The gif showcases the seamless reloading feature, where the magazine can be ejected and replaced with a smooth motion. Additionally, we've added more physical elements to the game by making each bullet a separate object that can land on your weapon. While we understand your eagerness to see gameplay footage, w…
- Beyond graphics of Into The Darkness VR - 12 December 2022
Hey guys! Welcome to another devlog! Today, we're excited to share some updates on the development of Into The Darkness VR. We're constantly improving the game, adding new passages, and enhancing the atmosphere of the location. But our goal with Into The Darkness VR is not to create a tech demo that falls short in some way. The stunning graphics are just one aspect of what we're working on. We're also putting a lot of effort into creating realistic physics, advanced AI, and a deep, rich story. We want the game to be more than just a showcase of technology – we want it to be an immersive and engaging experience for players. Deeper than graphics The plot of Into The Darkness VR is almost finalized. While we don't want to give away too much, we can assure you that it won't be a simple, cliched story "robots bad, go kill." We've put a lot of thought and effort into the background and contex…
- Release Date Update Into The Darkness VR - 18 October 2022
Hey guys! New release date Time for another devlog! Today’s topic is the release date. The significant expansion of the project means that we are unable to release the game in 2022. We already have many finished elements, some need polishing, and some are in the process of development (for example, we are in contact with voice actors). We also want you to understand what we are working on. Into The Darkness VR will offer a deep story. We want every character in the game to have an interesting personality and to tell their part of this complex story. We are also working on scenes that (we hope) will ensure that you will not forget about the game for a long time. We have big plans for Into The Darkness VR, and just like you, can’t wait for the game. We know that these types of complex story-driven VR games do not come out too often, so everything has to be perfect. We hope you can play In…

Another typical month for us, where we are preparing for you a game that takes full advantage of the power of PCVR. Usually, we write a lot, but this time we'll simply show you some screenshots of work-in-progress locations that probably wouldn't be available in the game if we hadn't expanded the scale of Into The Darkness VR (more about that, in the previous devlog!). Like last time, we have a short, raw video from our tests. Below you can see the examination of the new combat model. https://media.giphy.com/media/dIUwsefNDwInoJ442I/giphy.gif Hope you like it! We increased the budget We extended the production time to match the new scale of the game As Gameboom VR, we took care of the game design (the amazing Cosmos Games are responsible for the rest of the game!) The rest since then has been history, which you can follow in the devlogs. Remember the tutorial from the de…
- Rescheduling, motion capture and music - 5 July 2022
Hey guys! Today we have a lot to tell you about how we improve the quality of the game. Since the demo version that you could have played last summer, we are improving the game in EVERY aspect. The published demo version met with a lot of interest, outlining the further direction of the game development. In previous devlogs, you could see an improved graphic or an enlarged size of the locations. However, these are not the only changes we are constantly introducing in the game. Here are some more aspects that we are improving: New and improved mechanics In the demo version, you didn't have a chance to check how exactly crafting will work. In the full version, there will be an improved version of the crafting system waiting for you, which will also be related to the topic of ecology. See how weapons are being made in Into The Darkness VR now! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mp0dRoJQJcs We…

- Into The Darkness VR - a full-fledged PCVR Game - 16 February 2022
Hey guys! Today we'll talk about PCVR! What can we achieve by focusing mainly on the PCVR version of the game? In the previous post about Into The Darkness VR, we presented the plans for the development of the game. You already know that Cosmos Games/Gameboom VR production will be a full-fledged PCVR title. But what are the specific advantages of this? Today we will delve into this topic! The power of PCVR Of course, the graphics. This is probably the first thing that comes to mind when you think about PCVR. The graphics of games that run on PCs are definitely better than what we can see in other solutions. So Into The Darkness VR is better in this regard as well. But in the case of graphics, it is not only about how textures can be in high resolution. Developing the game on PCVR allows us to prepare much better geometry of objects and more advanced particle effects. Falling snow, fog,…
