  • Dev Blog 16 is out! - 5 April 2026

The world is not just nice to watch; it's becoming alive and playable! Chimneys spit smoke, lights turn on and off, snowy owls are on the watch and yes, garbage cans can be kicked.Dev blogs are a great opportunity to show the world where the project is at, and for followers to step back, summarize the past few months, and look ahead at what’s coming next.Click here to read the post on our website!

  • Snow Plow development shifts to Unity 6 - 13 March 2026

Big technical milestone for the game! I’ve decided to invest in the game’s future and ensure its longevity and long-term development after release by upgrading the project from Unity 2022 to Unity 6 and moving the rendering pipeline to URP. In short, a more modern game engine and a more efficient, scriptable rendering pipeline. This upgrade brings several benefits: better long-term engine support, improved performance, and better graphics. It also helps pave the way for future features I’ve been considering — including things like multiplayer support. It will also make it easier to take advantage of newer Unity tools going forward, helping keep development efficient and the game maintainable in the long run. Engine upgrades can sometimes break a lot of things, so it’s always a bit of a gamble. Thankfully, since the project is still at a relatively early stage, it was the right time to m…

  • Quick new year update - 8 January 2026

Hello everyone, and happy New Year! With the new year starting, I want to take a moment to look back at what has been accomplished over the course of 2025 and update you on the status of the project. It was a long, demanding, and extremely productive year for Snow Plow Project—one that fundamentally reshaped the game.2025...A major milestone was reached this past year with the introduction of the Advanced Snow Simulation. This state-of-the-art system completely redefines how snow behaves in the game. The first phase of this new system has been successfully implemented, and additional phases are planned to further refine and expand it. Snow now behaves with physics, resistance and doesn't simply disappear. The world has also grown—a lot. We started the year with an almost empty map and added dozens upon dozens of assets and buildings. We now have a true AAA grade feature in the game: reali…

  • Dev Blog 15 - 4 July 2025

The Snow Plow Project just hit a major milestone with the introduction of a cutting-edge, physics-based snow simulation that brings realistic snow pile-up, resistance, and interaction to the game. Developed with the help of a simulation expert, this system transforms gameplay, making snow clearing feel authentic and dynamic. Alongside this, the open-world region of Fields has expanded, assets are progressing, Screenshot Fridays showcase the latest visuals, and the soundtrack evolves with immersive ambient music. The project is steadily growing into a top-tier simulation experience.Curious to read more? https://snowplowproject.com/pages/dev-blog-15-the-road-to-real-snow

  • Dev Blog 14 - 11 December 2024

Now that the open world mechanics are in place for this upcoming initial Alpha version, we've been populating the first sector with buildings, props, roads and vegetation, while the snow system is also being overhauled to make snow event more believable and realistic. • Dev Blog 13 - 9 April 2024

Our game is getting major changes. The playtest we’ve been running for more than a year now served well as a prototype or tech demo. For most of last summer, from a development point of view, I’ve been working on basically building a brand-new game out of the best of the playtest. In other words, the playtest that you know right now won’t be getting any more update. It has served its purpose. This “new” build will be the Alpha version, or if you prefer, version 0.1.0. I took this opportunity to migrate the whole game to the most up-to-date Unity 3D engine. This opens the door to many technological improvements. The codes, mechanics and assets that were a success in the playtest are being ported to the Alpha, with most of this porting already completed. The playtest was only a start, we're only building from it now. In this Dev Blog, we'll talk about the work in progress for this upcomin…

  • Dev Blog 12 - 4 June 2023

Development has shifted. To what? We're slowly moving away from the sandbox, and now focusing on the open world and the next game modes. Thanks to the playtest that has been running for about 16 months now, we have a better idea of what works and what doesn't, and this data guides us in the development of what's coming. We are now building a magnificient wintery county and enhancing the existing mechanics. Sooner than later, you'll have a whole new world to plow. In the meantime, have a read at Dev Blog 12. Cheers! https://www.snowplowproject.com/dev-blog-12-the-shift/

  • Dev Blog 11 - 18 January 2023

In almost a year since the announcement of the game on Steam and the launch of the playtest, we kept working hard on the project while allowing thousands of playtesters to try the first version of it. Major mechanics have been implemented and upgraded, and we're slowly going towards something more complete and enjoyable. Here's the latest Dev Blog if you're curious to see what's happening. In this blog, we'll have an overview of what has been done in the last year and what's to come. https://www.snowplowproject.com/dev-blog-11-2022-wrap-up/
