- Update 1.4.0 - Difficulty Swapping! - 4 September 2023
The big feature of this update is difficulty swapping! If you begin a file in "retro" mode, you may now switch to "newcomer" mode at any point. Please note that this conversion is one way. There is no bumping up the difficulty from an easier file! Misc. You may now swap the difficulty to "newcomer" from a "retro" file. This can be done from the "file select" screen. Bug Fixes Fixed a bug where the boomerang sound effect would play for far too long. Fixed a soft lock in Act 2 where the player could leave behind the Bellion, locking themselves in a pit. Fixed a bug in Act 3 where Belle and all of the enemies would disappear. Fixed a couple of background inconsistencies corresponding to Act 3. This update mainly addresses a rare crash in Act 9. Misc. The animation buildup for the Bubble Power is now much quicker. Fixed the Act 3 background in the credits. Added a missing playtester in the credits. Bug Fixes Fixed a bug where the Hshu Hshu would de-spawn prematurely. Fixed a crash in Act 9. Thank you to all of the new players recently! The big feature of this update is the overhauled background of Act 3. This update also addresses concerns of motion sickness, fixes a few bugs, and overall ties the game closer to its upcoming Nintendo Switch counterpart. Visuals The intro now features a “photosensitivity warning”. Act 3 has received a significant amount of polish. The new backgrounds allow the viewer’s eyes more space to rest and are more compositionally interesting. The Intermission and all other instances of Act 3 background elements have received similar polish. Controls Players must now press the Up Button to interact with NPCs. In textboxes, the star icon has been changed to an A Button icon. This change can only be seen when using a gamepad. Plugging in a new gamepad will now register during active gameplay. Misc. - Update 1.2.0 - Third Face - 25 November 2022
This update overhauls the controls for PC players and the soon to come Nintendo Switch players. The most notable change is the addition of a "third face". Controls Added the option of "3 faces". This allocates the functions of some powerups to an additional face button (C/magic). The statue powerup can now be activated with C/magic or B/toss, if "3 faces" is toggled ON. The freeze powerup is now activated by C/magic, if "3 faces" is toggled ON. The static powerup is now activated by C/magic, if "3 faces" is toggled ON. When "3 faces" is toggled OFF, the static powerup is now deactivated by A/jump. The rose powerup can now be activated with C/magic or down, if "3 faces" is toggled ON. - Gameplay Balancing Update 1.1.0 is Now Available! - 18 October 2022
There are quite a few changes this time around. Most are behind the scenes, but there should be a noticeable difference in the difficulty for some players. The goal is not to make the whole game easier, but to smooth the difficulty curve just a bit. Act 3 Foamflowers can now only produce 1 enemy at a time. (This change can also be seen in Act 9.) Act 5 A checkpoint has been moved from Scene 6 to Scene 5. An additional checkpoint has been added in Scene 7. The placement of some geysers, platforms, and bells have been moved for clarity. Geysers and raindrops now melt at a decreased rate when interacted with. (This change can also be seen in Acts 7 and 11.) Misc. The snowflake/freezing animation is now quicker to better match hitbox durations. Fixed a bug that occurred in some enemy types when falling off a ledge.
