Hey there all! Wanted to share some progress on the remake. I've been focusing on having a very polished first draft of all the systems in game. Thus far, my focus has been on dialogue, motion and world interactivity. I'm VERY happy with the way things are progressing!I'm also really in love with the new art direction. I feel it brings a certain life to Critter Crops that wasn't there before! Additionally, the business of the environment really brings that cozy feel but stays true to the original style. I've attached a sample of the new direction for our environment in the remake! its a lot more involved and detailed but fits the vision so much better. Over the past year, I’ve spent a lot of time reflecting on Critter Crops and the journey surrounding it.To be honest, the original launch didn’t live up to what I had hoped for, both for you and for myself. A lot of that came down to behind-the-scenes challenges involving support, QA, and my own lack of experience at the time. Long time no talk! Sooooo just gonna start things off with the happy news by saying that the long awaited overhaul (aka version 2.0) of Critter Crops is now LIVE! This update introduced a truckload of changes to gameplay quality. Please note that the story and questing for the game hasn't changed though so you won't feel like you missed out if you didn't finish out the game in the past. I won't spoil it by saying exactly what's changed but here's a baseline breakdown: New vendor New Grimoire New UI visual/layouts New revamped turn by turn combat New customization Complete controller support (this one was a DOOZY to implement. Unfortunately it's not perfect so we recommend not swapping back and forth between joystick and m&k) Plus many many more! Hey there everyone, apologies for the radio silence. We haven't abandoned the game I promise! Quite the contrary!! (truth is im just awful at remembering to make posts with what I'm up to) I know everyone is itching to know what's been going on since launch. And the answer is a complicated one that I'll first sum it up with a single phrase, A LOT. First and foremost I want to address issue number one, our launch. It wasn't great, bugs were an issue for sure but also people struggled with mechanics that weren't polished. That's on me. As a solo dev this has been a learning experience. So I decided to take in all the feedback, the bugs etc and come up with a plan to revamp the game as a whole. This ended in a very large series of adjustments. So what does this mean? First for the good! We are so proud to have made it onto New and Trending! Thank you all for making that happen!! Never in our wildest dreams did we think we'd see our little game there! What a first day! Thank you all for being amazing and patient as we wrangled the problem areas we weren't able to snag before launch (there was some WEEIIIRRDD stuff). We chose to focus on anything majorly game breaking that was found and will continue to address the less 'spicy' issues as we progress. Readers, something actually magical has happened! I’ve spent a non-zero amount of time this week compiling a wishlist for potential Stardew Valley -likes that also let me keep pets. I wasn’t sure what I wanted to play, but I knew I was burnt out on both stabbing and shooting, and wanted something light and colourful with a solid loop that I could veg out (pun intended) with at the end of the day. Dear Critter Coven, We know a lot of excitement has been stirring since the release date announcement. Unfortunately, we are no longer confident in that date and will be postponing the release of the game to later this year.
