Latest Steam announcements

  • Programmability Update 2 - 9 May 2022

The second programming update adds a number of new features and blueprints that expands the capabilities of the graph programming system. We are adding the following new nodes to expand on the logic: Variable node: allows storing information across frames Timer node: allows programs to be time aware Individually programmed motors / pistons: dynamically and separately control each motor File node: reads a json array for more complex logic We are also adding 2 new blueprints to showcase these features: "stopwatch", which is a mechanical digits display, and "piano bot", which takes advantage of the new "import" feature to automate a previously built piano.

  • Music / Sound Update - 19 March 2022

This latest update to Brickbuilder VR adds pieces that play a music note when they collider. For now, "piano" and "music box" notes are supported. A few more instruments will be added in next update. The pitch of the note played depends on the length and color of the music string. We are also adding 2 blueprints, the "piano" and the "music box", to showcase these feature. The piano is the largest (and most difficult) blueprint in the game to date, with ~700 pieces. The music box is simpler, and has swap-able cores to play different songs.

  • Autosave & Custom Music Update - 29 January 2022

With this update, we are adding autosaves and support for custom background music. Autosaves are available from the top of the "load" panel. Custom music can be enabled from settings, and plays your own mp3 from a folder when building. (The menu music is still the same) We also added a new blueprint, "scale", which can measure the weight of various pieces. "scale" uses a distance sensor and springs to measure weight, so make sure to turn on graph programming. https://i.ibb.co/1GcyJdP/scale.gif

  • Hotfix - 23 December 2021

Fix the issue that older blueprints are not loading.

  • Hotfix - 20 December 2021

Fix grabbing bug with this piece: https://i.ibb.co/BCHWgrq/hotfix.png

  • Programmability Update - 18 December 2021

The latest update of Brickbuilder VR comes with the new "graph programming" feature. It is now possible to make your creation "smart" through a combination of sensors, controller inputs, logic, math operations, and piston/motor outputs. We are also introducing 2 new blueprints, the "Useless Box," and the "Line Runner", to demonstrate some possible usages of the graph programming feature. As usual, completed builds will be shared on workshop soon. Make sure to actually start the program in the "Graph" tab as they are by default deactivated. We have also added the "sensor" piece, the "smooth plate" piece family, the "lines" stage, and various bug fixes.

  • Stages Update - 24 October 2021

Added the "targets" and "trails" custom stages. They can be activated from the stages menu. Targets is intended to test projectile-launching creations: Trails is intended to test vehicle creations: This update also includes the following: A new blueprint, "cannon", which is a reliable projectile launcher. Increased max speeds for pistons and motors Scrolling lists using thumbstick / trackpad on controllers.

  • Springs Update - 8 October 2021

With this update, it is now possible to configure pistons as springs instead. Springs have adjustable stiffness, and will pull the connected axle toward the end or the center of their motion range. We are also adding 2 blueprints to showcase this feature: "Crossbow", which can be manually loaded and fired: and "Buggy", which is a vehicle with suspensions. Completed builds will be uploaded to the workshop soon.

  • Steam Workshop update #1 - 25 September 2021

We have added preliminary support for Steam Workshop with this update. You can share your creations in-game by going to options -> share. Once you subscribe to a shared creation, you can load them in-game like a standard save file. As part of this, we have also uploaded builds for the game's 12 built-in blueprints, as well as a new blueprint, "Inline-4 Engine", which is a simpler piston engine.

  • Piston update - 11 September 2021

With this update, we're adding: Piston, a new piece that combines with an axle to provide controlled linear motion. 2 New blueprints, the "engine" and "bulldozer", to take advantage of its capabilities. UX improvements to the blueprint area.

  • Rewind Hotfix - 26 August 2021

Fix a rare issue that rewinding can break the game.

  • Connection Preview Update - 23 August 2021

https://i.ibb.co/Rps7jWt/movie-109.gif It is now possible to connect pieces together by bringing them close to each other. When the silhouette of the connection is visible, release the piece to make the connection. The thumbstick can be used to adjust the relative position when working with axles. Holding a piece steady for some time extends the range that the game looks for this type of connections. Connection preview is on by default, but you can turn it off in settings if you prefer the previous behavior.

  • Vertical UI update - 30 July 2021

We added a more traditional pointer-style UI. You can enable it by selecting "vertical UI" in settings. https://i.ibb.co/Wv18tpj/movie-108-1.gif

  • Physics Toggle Update - 24 July 2021

Physics can now be turned off for easier builds. Added haptics feedback for piece connections. Here is an example with one step of the "Arm" blueprint: With physics off: https://i.ibb.co/ZM43xY1/movie-106-3.gif With physics on (it's still possible, but a lot harder): https://i.ibb.co/yRJ7JM5/movie-107.gif

  • Tutorial update - 19 July 2021

Added Tutorial Added Grab Highlight Minor bugfixes and graphics improvements

  • Performance Update - 8 July 2021

We have replaced the game's rendering pipeline to a more efficient version to address performance issues. This is expected to improve graphics performance by up to 300%. Unfortunately, this does make the game look less as good. Let us know if you prefer the previous version - we can try to make both versions available.

  • Hotfix - 5 July 2021

    Graphics performance and setting improvements

  • Hotfix - 2 July 2021

    Add options for graphic settings

  • Hotfix - 30 June 2021

Fix an issue that music volume does not affect menu music
