  • Isle Goblin is Partnering with Pocketpair & Fireshine Games (and we’re at TGS!) - 18 September 2026

If you’d have told me a year ago that I’d be partnering with the publishers behind Pal World and Core Keeper, AND I'd have a playable demo of my game at the Tokyo Game Show, I’d have laughed in your face…but here we are! I’ve been working with Fireshine for a little while now, and I’m super psyched to announce that Pocketpair is going to be the co-publisher for Isle Goblin in Asia. We’re kicking off this awesome partnership with an Isle Goblin demo, playable at the Pocketpair booth at the Tokyo Game Show from today all the way to the 21st of September. Oh, and we’ve even got some Isle Goblin merch up for grabs! I’ve been working hard on implementing feedback and bug fixes from our playtest, and things are shaping up real nice. The Isle Goblin community is so awesome and I just wanna say a huge thanks for all your support. When you’re an indie dev working on a passion project, there’s re…

  • Isle Goblin's First Gamescom! - 27 August 2026

What's up, Goblins? I've got some awesome news to share...Isle Goblin is playable at Gamescom, Cologne this year! Some of you already know that game dev has only recently become a full-time gig for me, so seeing my game at one of the biggest game fairs in Europe feels totally wild. The game is obviously still in development but, with the help of my publisher, we put together a pretty awesome demo, and now it's time to unleash Isle Goblin onto the world. Or, well, Germany at least. If you're one of the cool kids attending Gamescom this year, head on over to the Indie Arena in Hall 10 and check out Isle Goblin in booth 31! If a chance the play the demo isn't incentive enough, then maybe I can also bribe you with FREE STICKERS? 😉 Oh, now also feels like a good time to tell you that we're a few weeks into our first official playtest. This is a closed playtest that I invited members of the…

  • Goblin Research Notes #3 - Cutscenes, Leveling Up, Dyes, and More! - 25 June 2026

Hey Goblins, Before I signed with my publisher, I used to be an electrical engineer, but now my side hustle is my main hustle and I wanna show you some of the cool behind-the-scenes updates I've been working on. I've been tinkering away in lots of different parts of the game, so grab a drink or your favourite snack, and let's get into these Goblin Research Notes. Steam Cloud Saves Added Steam cloud saving Added option to choose which islands and characters are synched with the Steam cloud You know when you put off a task because you think it's going to be a challenge and then it takes you, like, 5 minutes? Yeah, that's what happened when I went to add Steam cloud saving to Isle Goblin. It's now possible to save your game to the Steam cloud and to select which islands and characters you sync. Perfect if you wanna switch between desktop, laptop, and/or Steam Deck. I use Unity as my game e…

  • Goblin Research Notes #2 - 7 April 2026

Hello Goblins,Matt here again! Welcome back to the second dev blog in the Goblin Research Notes series. I’ve been hard at work behind the scenes, and this update is a bit of a mix! Some deep technical improvements, plus a big batch of new features and quality-of-life changes.Let’s jump in. Pathfinding Deep Dive (aka: goblins got smarter)One of the biggest improvements I’ve made is to pathfinding and it’s a pretty massive one.Previously, I was using a standard A* system. It works great, but it has one major downside: if there’s no possible path, it still searches everything before giving up… which can cause some nasty lag spikes. So I reworked it.Now, the world is broken into sectors, which are further split into “regions” (basically chunks of walkable or non-walkable space). These regions are all connected together in a kind of network. What this lets me do:Instantly check if a path is ev…

  • Goblin Research Notes #1 - 5 February 2026

Hello Goblins, Matt here! I’ve been developing Isle Goblin for 3 years now and thought it was about time I showed face. This is the first dev blog in the Goblin Research Notes series which I'll be using to update you with my progress. Long story short, I’ve signed with a publisher so now I’m working on my game full time (see ya later employment!), and I’ve been adding some pretty cool stuff. Let’s dive in. (Firstly, a BIG thanks for wishlisting! If you’re following me on YouTube, I go into more detail about what’s coming in my latest video. You can check it out below.) If you're new here, Isle Goblin, in a nutshell, will have you playing as a goblin trying to fight off the evil humans. The world is fully destructible, and you can go underground to explore, fight bosses, and gather tons of items. So, what’s new? NPC chatter: I tried a few different options, but settled on a little murmur…
