- Состоялся релиз Songs of Glimmerwick - музыкальная ролевая игра добралась до Steam - 30 September 2026
- Come play the flute and reshape the very earth in Songs of Glimmerwick, a magic school RPG from the creators of Eastshade - 30 September 2026
It has perhaps never been easier to join a witch or wizard school without being a Guy Who Rhymes With Bally Trotter. Academies of the occult abound in videogames. True, there has yet to be an amazing Little Witch Academia adaptation, and I'm still waiting for that Arbitrary Metric take on Naomi Novik's A Deadly Education, to say nothing of Failbetter's take on Terry Pratchett's Equal Rites, but in the short term, I've been enjoying the demo for Songs of Glimmerwick , which goes on sale today. - Songs of Glimmerwick in Next Fest! - 15 June 2026
Next Fest is upon us! We launched our demo in April and we've been fixing bugs, gathering feedback, making improvements, adding support for different languages, and now we're excited for the opportunity for a bunch of new players to discover and try out the game! At the time of this writing, we've broken 150 thousand wishlists. We've been hearing extremely encouraging things on our public feedback form, with the median score being a 9! The most common complaint is that folks were really sad the demo ended and they think it should be longer 😅. But it's already over two hours which according to most Steam experts is way too long for a demo! I guess the time flies by in Glimmerwick 😄. If you're reading this and you haven't played yet, give it a try! If you like big RPGs with lots of colorful characters and dense hand-crafted worlds with something interesting around every corner, I think…
- Demo Version 0.484 - 13 June 2026
Made the Song of Tilling (first song in the game) a bit easier. This is to improve the difficulty ramping for the music mini game. Fixed text issues in certain languages on the game map legend.Fixed a soft lock with watering can by the player pond.I will mention (as I will continue to mention forever more) that the music mini game is by no means a mandatory part of the game. You can pretty much skip it and never touch it again if you like. It's also a game that you get better at with more attempts. Songs are not meant to be maxed out instantly upon first attempt, or even the 4th attempt.
- Localization Update! - 12 May 2026
In addition to English, the demo now supports:Chinese (Simplified)GermanRussianPortuguese (Brazilian)Spanish (Spain)FrenchJapaneseThere have also been a plethora of other small fixes. We'll be keeping an eye out for feedback on the localizations in particular such as missing texts, font issues, etc.
- Demo Version 0.466 - 14 April 2026
0.466 is live! All the updates from 0.465 are live now too (we had to roll it back for a bit)We now bludgeon you over the head with multiple tutorials explaining how the clock works.Added an extra layer of help to the music mini game in the optionsAdded a tutorial reiterating that the you don't need to achieve any stars in the music minigame to cast spells
- Demo Version 0.465 - 11 April 2026
0.465 patch is live! We nipped a few things in the bud due to popular demand, like escape for backing out of menus, and M for map (right stick click on controller).created new default key binds for regional keyboards. NOTE - some people's key mappings will be overwritten! This will only happen once and then never again. Really sorry about this! Better to nip it in the bud now after the demo is just a few days released. in mouse and keybaord mode "M" opens the map directly. Right stick click with controller.kept learned star super easy to get, but made perfected a bit harder (but not as hard as before the first patch)replaced confusing sprite for backspace in the music lesson (it looked like left arrow)escape now closes readables and player menufixed a soft lock related to sitting in chairsfixed an errant save lock related to being in waterfixed being able to enter the potions classroom…
- Demo Version 0.464 - 9 April 2026
made the clock stop while in player menu and shops (flute mode is a very deliberate decision to not stop clock. Please see the practice rooms in the music classroom!)fixed "=+" markup showing up in front of \ dialogue choices for some Npcs
- DEMO IS OUT! - 7 April 2026
The demo is live for all now! We hope you enjoy it! We'd also love to hear your feedback! We have a feedback form, which we are very appreciative for anyone who takes the time to fill it out. We are treating this public demo as an opportunity to make the game better so it can be the best it can be by 1.0! Additionally, you can join our discord if you'd like to chat with others about the game, or leave us feedback! It's also fine to email feedback to [email protected] other news about what's coming: We have a big update in the works that was a bit too risky to launch the demo with. It fixes a number of known issues including a possible soft lock in the Swish and Stitch (tailor shop). We're also aware that we need a different set of default key binds for many of the worlds different keyboard layouts. This is in the works and will hopefully be coming within the next few weeks.…

Our demo is coming very soon ladies and gentlemen! Stay tuned!
- Devlog #5 | Making Beautiful Top-down Worlds - 7 March 2025
Over our last 5 years developing Songs of Glimmerwick, we've made a lot of discoveries about making a top-down world. Things that make the world more beautiful, navigable, varied, and cohesive. This devlog is a behind-the-scenes look at all those discoveries. We also compare what it's like building for a fixed camera vs the "free" camera of our previous title Eastshade.
- Devlog #4 | World First Design and Time in Glimmerwick! - 8 May 2024
This devlog covers two topics: One is our world first design philosophy, where we put the world and sense of place before anything, including mechanics. This is backwards from the way most games are designed, but we like to think it's the unique DNA that makes our games unique. It's the philosophy we used to make our previous title Eastshade, and we are approaching Glimmerwick the same way. The other is our approach to time in Glimmerwick. Time freezes during events, and every evening. We feel it relieves the time pressure felt in most farming sims, but still offers the ebb and flow of days and seasons, and offers us (the designers) more narrative and tonal control than the constant night day cycle common RPGs. Enjoy much more detail on these topics, and a few more in the devlog!
- Devlog #3 is out and it's all about our characters! - 2 March 2024
Glimmerwick is a lively bustling place! There are currently over 100 unique characters and rising, and many of them are dynamic with schedules and some even change their outfits on occasion. In this devlog I give a rundown of what our character pipeline looks like, how we get them all rigged and animated, and some tricks for how we're able to create so many characters with a small team!
- Devlog #2 is now up! - 1 February 2024
Hey everyone! In this devlog we go on a deep dive into our art pipeline, and explore some really unique things about how we're creating the games visuals. It covers more technical topics compared to our first devlog, but if you love seeing behind the scenes on how games are made, grab a tea and enjoy the tour of our process!
- Starting a Video Devlog! - 8 January 2024
Hello everyone! Development is going strong, but release is still a ways off. To tide you over in the meanwhile, we're starting a devlog! In this series of videos we'll cover what we've been up to, behind the scenes clips of our process, as well as some philosophy and just generally things we think about when designing the game. We hope you like it! And please feel free to subscribe to our channel on YouTube if you want to catch the future devlogs! And of course liking and subscribing helps us out in the YouTube algorithm so we'd greatly appreciate it!
