- Rerecording 16th Century Music for a 21st Century Comedy Game - 26 August 2026
Every year when it's Spotify Wrapped time, I'm always excited to go through the little process with all of my friends-- only to realize that the thing I've listened to most is some game soundtrack, because video game OSTs on loop soothe and relax my troubled mind. Well, for those of us who have an unhealthy addiction to OSTs just like that, there's a pretty peculiar soundtrack coming up on the horizon. Painstakingly recorded, absurdly beautiful, entirely new renditions of 16th-century classical music.Like so many things, Joe Richardson's The Immortal John Triptych chooses to avoid the beaten path with the mind-boggling work of its composer, Eduardo Antonello. If you aren't familiar with Joe's wildly imaginative brain, The Immortal John Triptych is the definitive collection of his narrative puzzle games (Four Last Things, The Procession to Calvary, and Death of the Reprobate). They are bu…

- Steam Deck Compatibility - 9 December 2024
In case anyone was wondering, Death of the Reprobate is fully playable on a dusty Steam Deck, and pairs nicely with a cup of tea and a Tunnock's Tea Cake. You can use touch screen or trackpad, though I would recommend trackpad. By default 'A' will highlight hotspots. And you might want to deselect the 'Drag and drop' option in the setting to make handling items easier. That's it! :) Joe
- Eh... Trading cards! - 25 November 2024
Someone asked for trading cards, so I made some trading cards. Now there are trading cards. Is that good?
- Just some small fixes - 9 November 2024
Nothing to see here! Just some small bug fixes. Almost certainly didn't introduce a bunch of new bugs or accidentally break the whole game at the same time...

- Death of the Reprobate's creator drew inspiration from the timeless art of Hieronymous Bosch, Bruegel, and the poop joke - 7 November 2024
Sometimes the art-making process is a sacred thing. Other times it's fart trumpets and poop jokes. Nobody knew this better than pre-modern artists: Members of a movement that found its roots in the classical and medieval period, Renaissance artists are best known for the stunning paintings of 14th to 16th century Italy , like "The Birth of Venus." Then there's Hieronymous Bosch, the 15th century Dutch painter whose most famous work is a triptych of Eden, Earth, and Hell called "The Garden of Earthly Delights." His overwhelmingly detailed panoramas tell a hundred stories in one. While their overall subject matter is serious, those little stories create a collage of Earthly life that's both comedic and surreal... Read more.

- Death Of The Reprobate will complete a point and click triptych - 21 September 2021
I feel as if the header image successfully conveys the appeal of Joe Richardson's work. He makes point-and-click adventures which take real Renaissance paintings, animate them in cut-out style (think Monty Python), and juxtapose them with modern vernacular. His next game was announced today. It's called Death Of The Reprobate, and there's a trailer showing both pointing and clicking below. Read more
