• Ships Aren’t Just Dungeons - 27 December 2025

  Alien ships and bases aren’t just a set of interconnected rooms for you to clear. Ships now have captains that can be assassinated to force surrender and some have cargo and gun systems that will fire at your ship if the crew becomes alerted to your presence. How you approach encounters matters.

• Stealth and Visibility - 27 December 2025

  In Darklight Breach enemy ships are dangerous places filled with hidden secrets. Carelessly barging into new areas will rarely work out in your favor.Fog of War was changed to be based on line-of-sight and a new stealth mechanic allows you to move around the ship without being immediately drawn into fights you didn't intend to get in to.

• Improved Spatial Tactics - 27 December 2025

  Darklight Breach fights are played in two-dimensional spaces with cover elements. Advantage is gained by taking up either rear or flanking positions against the opponent.Previously it was fairly easy to see where you should position your squad. Once in position, you would wait for enemies to die.In order to keep the fights spatially interesting we made three changes: Cover has been made destructibleAI now periodically repositions to try and gain their own advantageOfficers now have shields that can absorb some damage and regenerate when out of combatTogether, this challenges the player to Reposition multiple times during a fightLearn enemy AI positioning patterns to predict or prevent their ability to gain advantage against you

• The Ship Board - 26 December 2025

  In DarkLight Breach your ship is your squad’s home. This past year we decided to change from representing the player's ship from 3D buildable space to a 2D board in order to streamline gameplay. You use the Ship Board to install the powerful weapons and upgrades that you find during a run.There are 4 types of stations we are currently planning for you to be able to collectArsenal Stations - Big weapons that you can call in from your ship to support your squadLocker Stations - Equipment and weapons you can load out squad members withFacility Stations - These stations level-up and improve the stats of your squad membersTeleporter Stations - Gives your invasion squad powerful buffs when they teleportArsenal stations and Locker stations built and working in-game today.
