- Patch 1.1 with Unit and Ability Adjustments - 19 March 2023
Hello again on this lovely Sunday! It has been two weeks since the full release of For The Fatherland with even more soldiers joining the battle! I have received plenty of new feedback and decided to put some of it into the game. Patch 1.1 brings along: Fixed known animation issues such as units being stuck in the t-pose (no idea why this suddenly happened) Implemented a notification for lost units: you will now get a message should one of your units die Changed the healing and taking cover abilities to global: they now apply to all units, you don’t need to select individual units anymore Changed healing to a flat value of 15hp for human units, and 30hp for vehicles Reduced taking cover to 7 from 10 seconds Adjusted balancing on Omaha, Bocage, Carentan, and Airfield Buffed the MG unit: damage is now 3-5 base and 4-7 on upgrade from 2-4/3-5, AOE damage is now 1-2 from 1, range on upgrade…
- Hotfix Version 1.02 - 14 March 2023
Soldiers! This hotfix shall help with UI distortions when playing at ultrawide resolutions e.g., the continue button for the minimap tutorial was off-screen forcing players to lower resolution in order to end the tutorial. However, please note that For The Fatherland was developed for common resolutions such as 1920x1080 & 2560x1440, thus UI distortions at alternative resolutions might indeed appear. I have not figured out yet how to fix that in a sustainable way… Special thanks to user 1 for reporting this issue! Cheers Zuck
- Hotfix Version 1.01 - 6 March 2023
Hey lads, I have fixed a bug that would not let you close the game menu on Omaha, Rekrut difficulty, once you opened it. I have checked all maps for said issue and could not find any further bugs, thus the game should work as intended now. Special thanks to 1stHeretic for reporting the bug! I apologize for the inconvenience, please let me know if any other issues occur. Have a good one! Zuck
- Full Release on Steam - 5 March 2023
Soldiers! It’s about time, I am proud to announce the full release of For The Fatherland! As of today, For The Fatherland is leaving the Early Access phase and the development process is coming to an end. I have implemented all of the content and community feedback you so kindly provided. Although the work on FTF is completed, I will provide hotfixes and patches should bugs or balancing issues occur. However, I would like to move on and start working on a new project building upon my experience gained while working on FTF. Full release patch notes: Fixed a bug that would not allow zooming in and out when you paused the game Reduced the depot price of the smoke grenade ability from 100/50 to 50/50 Made some minor visual adjustments Resized the depot ability icons Implemented a more sophisticated six step tutorial on the first map Changed some graphics options which should reduce the stre…
- All Quiet on the Eastern Front - 19 February 2023
Hey Folks! Finally, the last map for FTF is now live! This time you will have to face the many relentless Soviet forces attacking your base on Kursk, but fear not, new glorious weapons are waiting for you to use them, including the famous Flak 88! As always, you might need to replay Castle in order to unlock the last map. Patch 1.5 notes: Reduced prices of the Tiger I and StuG IV tanks Nurse is now slightly faster Fixed the sniper ability, aiming should work better now Adjusted few minor things What now? Although Kursk is the last map for FTF, I still wish to change and improve some things in the game, which I did not manage to do so far. I would also like to implement Steam Achievements, but no idea how this stuff works, so I will have to try it out first and see how it goes. The full release should happen soon, but should you have any feedback, I will try to implement it in a hot fix…

- I Need Your Help! + Castle Preview - 24 November 2022
Hey lads, I have been told that the game might be too difficult, given that player units have become destructible with patch 1.2 (Introduction of Carentan). How has been your experience so far? Is the game too difficult? Are player units dying too quickly? Please consider giving your feedback here or on DISCORD, it would really help improving the game and making it more balanced! Cheers! Zuck PS. I am currently working on the next map "Castle", please have a look~
- New Map: Airfield - 30 October 2022
Hello fellow tacticians! Just in time for Halloween I have finished working on Airfield and so can finally release the map to you! Coding and making sure that everything works was a tough cookie, but after testing Airfield for the past two days and not facing any major bugs we might be safe for the steam release… As with every new map: please replay and win Carentan in order to get access to Airfield! Patch notes for FTF v.1.3: General Fixed a scaling bug that would mess up the “units” window Changed the game cursor as the old one was not visible enough (thanks to jaxom for pointing this out) Replaced the weapon of the Panzerfaust unit as the old version used the American rocket launcher, now it has the proper German one Buffed healing by 10 points, should be more useful now Reduced the price of Tiger I by 200Rü as it was way too expensive Deleted some more artifacts to increase perform…
- Airfield: Dogfight Showcase - 2 October 2022
Hey lads! Life has been quite busy for me, but I have finally managed to fix some major programming issues I have been struggling with, although there is still plenty of work to do. Anyways, the planes are finally behaving as they should, indeed they are flying and shooting at each other now without clipping through the entire map and breaking the game… *hip hip hooray!* I hope to release Airfield this month, should no further bugs appear *fingers crossed* In the meantime, please have a look at this glorious and totally professional dogfight showcase: Cheers Zuck
- Sneak Peek: Airfield - 4 September 2022
Hello Soldiers! It is now roughly five weeks after the release of Carentan and I think it is time for some new content, right? Right! I’ve been working on the next map for FTF i.e., Airfield which will *surprise – surprise* introduce air units into the game. I plan a total of four air units aka planes: two for the enemy, and two for you to use. In all probability, you will have one plane for air-to-air combat, and one plane for air-to-ground combat. Additionally, I will try to introduce an anti-air ground unit to provide more tactical freedom against enemy planes. Of course, you will be also able to use the currently available ground units, including tanks. Finally, the work on map design is pretty much finished (I might make some adjustments though), so now I’ll move on to work on unit functionality and game logic. Please note, I’m super busy with university work, therefore the release…
- Carentan Release and More Updates! - 31 July 2022
Achtung! Following your great dedication to the Fatherland on Omaha and Bocage a new challenge lies for you ahead: the Battle of Carentan! The first major For The Fatherland update introduces the third map of the German campaign Carentan, and indeed plenty of new content. In fact, Omaha beach went through a visual redesign, as the map lacked behind in quality compared to Bocage and especially to Carentan. The update also includes numerous minor fixes, small adjustments, and tweaks. General: Added three new music pieces to the music player rotation Fixed several issues with animation and sound synchronization Fixed a lighting bug which made weird shadows on the ground texture Adjusted player unit behaviour e.g., the bullet speed of the Combat Rifle unit has been increased Added three new player units: Tank Trap, StuG IV, Tiger I Added five new enemy units: Grenadier, Officer, Tank Driver…
- New Map: Carentan - First Look - 13 July 2022
Hey Lads! Today I would like to share with you some insights on the upcoming third map: Carentan. Carentan is one of those iconic maps you can find in pretty much every WW2 video game such as in the classic Call of Duty 1 & 2, and quite recently in Hell Let Loose. Should you also have watched the Band of Brothers TV series you will probably remember that epic assault of the Easy Company, and ehm Winters getting shot in his butt (or was it his leg?). By the way, my favorite part has always been camping behind the MG near gallery and suddenly popping up to yeet down approaching players, easy kill, easy life :P Anyways, the initial map design is finished so far, I’ll continue adding more details and further work on effects & post processing, but all the major stuff is done. The “work” shifts now to the implementation of new abilities and units with the Tiger I (PzKpfw VI) and the M4 Sherma…

As For The Fatherland is a game in development, any suggestions on new units, abilities, and map designs are t…
