- The Story Begins! - 8 April 2026
Hey Loners! This is Lu, Atomic Picnic's Narrative Designer! Our latest Major Update added something we've been wanting for a while: a proper introduction. In Atomic Picnic's case, it came in the shape (and text, and audio) of a cutscene. Cutscenes can be a fantastic tool for a number of things. They provide context, deepen the storytelling, and can even help with UX. You get to know the characters more, relate to them, and receive information that will be useful for gameplay. Our intro might not be a feature film, but it gives some of the what's, where's, and how's of the Zone and its mysteries. All that in just a few seconds! Phew! We hope you enjoy our animated comic book come to life. See you in the Zone!
