- We will be ending the support and sale of R'lyeh - 22 September 2023
Due to poor sales, a lack of interest, and a developer leaving the team, we have decided to end the sale and support of R'lyeh. Thank you for your support and interest.
- Bug Fixes and Changes: 1/14/23 - 14 January 2023
Hello survivors! I hope everyone had wonderful holidays and a great new year! The latest update features the new sleep system. Players may now interact with a bed in order to sleep the night away, assuming nothing decides to interfere, of course. I have also worked a lot on further optimizing enemy AI and spawning systems! See you on R'lyeh!
- Bug Fixes and Changes: 12/20/22 - 20 December 2022
Hey survivors! Sorry it's been a minute since the last patch update, I came down with a pretty nasty illness. Feeling a bit better now, so we're back to working on updates! Bug Fixes and Changes: Fixed an issue where you couldn't place items/use HandyPal when standing in a doorway Hunger and thirst tick are slightly reduced Handheld torches are a bit brighter Standing torches are now able to fully offer 'comfort' zones when in their vicinity.
- Bug Fixes and Changes 12/13/22 - 13 December 2022
Bug Fixes and Changes: Fix for buckets/tools sometimes not loading in Fix for stalker eye still being used even if health full Fix for headlamp visibility when in first person mode Raft should be less stubborn and easier to use Credits added to start screen Headlamp can now be recharged with a charge There were light artifacts with the headlamp, fixed Door fixed (cannot pickup after placing anymore) Stalker eyes now add 15 health, was 10
- Bug Fixes and Changes 12/9/22 - 10 December 2022
Bug Fixes and Changes: A typo in the loading screen was fixed. Escape key will now cancel placement if in it, abort HandyPal if it's open, or if none of these are active, will enter settings menu. Torch was not affecting sanity properly, should be fixed. When dying from starvation or thirst, the player will respawn with a bit of hunger/thirst filled. The monsters in the red crystal cave were too noisy. We told them to quiet down. Toggling subtitles is now more clear (was simply 'toggle subtitles', now it's 'Turn Subtitles On' if they're off and 'Off' if they're on). Added screenshot mode, this can be toggled with F1 key. User settings are now saved for each individual game file. There was an issue with spikenuts not always respawning, this should be fixed. Overlap retriggers are fixed. There was an issue with thirst not causing damage when depleted, this is fixed. Feature: We have a fan…
- Bug Fixes and Changes 12/8/22 - 8 December 2022
Bug Fixes and Changes: No longer need to hold left-click to use your tool. You can simply click once, and rick-click to interrupt the action if needed. Forge can be turned on regardless if there is something to smelt in it. The forge is NOT enough light to combat insanity, please keep this in mind. Insanity no longer affects controls. Instead, it begins with whispers, followed by visual hallucinations, and eventually taking damage over time. Placing a tap on a large mushroom tree (the viney guys) is a bit easier now. Death now gives a five second window of invulnerability when respawning. Use it wisely! Opening the HandyPal or interacting with a workstation will automatically cancel placement mode. Feature: New torch animations! These should not only look better, but also make it much easier to run around with your torch!
- Bug Fixes and Changes 12/6/2022 - 6 December 2022
Hello survivors! Some of the recent changes have been made as a result of feedback. Your feedback is so important, especially given the Early Access state of R'lyeh and how new it is! The more you offer, the more changes and refinement we can make. Bug Fixes and Changes: Tips and lore now show on the loading screens at random. Reduced performance cost of fire effects. Axe and pickaxe were a little crooked during chopping animations and that has been fixed. Numerous more settings have been added to the settings menu. Added tooltips to ingredients active in Workbench (on hover). Creating a staple clip also unlocks the blueprint for the Staple Gun. Certain AI behavior has certain changes during red suns. Discarded items sometimes floated when loading the game, this should be fixed.
- Quick Fix Patch 12/4/22 - 5 December 2022
This is just a quick path for the campfire particles. There's been some issue with lagging so I've optimized the fire more and have reduced the particle draw count quite a bit. This should help with potential lag problems.
- Bug Fixes and Changes 12/4/2022 - 4 December 2022
Hello survivors! I know I said I plan to release updated once per week, but I've been super busy refining things and fixes little issues, and felt this was worth putting out now. I promise these will start moving to once per week as soon as possible! Bug Fixes and Changes: Settings menu will now pause the game when pulled up. Crate is now rooted when placed so it can no longer be knocked around. Fixed an issue with some of the scalestone and ichorite ore not respawning. Item overlap prompts are now smoother. Ghost jellies no longer spawn inside structures. Chitin armor can now be made at the workbench (was the advanced Workstation).
- Bug Fixes and Changes 12/3/2022 - 3 December 2022
Hello survivors! A few changes have been made, mostly with a focus on refining the game now. There's been a couple of small bugs that are fixed as well. At this point, the goal is to continue to refine R'lyeh and especially listen to player feedback and make changes to give the best experience possible.
- Quick Patch 12/1/2022 - 2 December 2022
This is just a quick fix for a bug I found in the forge. :)
- Bug Fixes and Changes 12/1/2022 - 1 December 2022
Hello everyone! As we continue into Early Access, I will try to limit updates to once per week so that people aren't overloaded with them. However, if any major bugs happen, I will release patches as soon as possible to fix them. If you run into bugs, please let me know either via the Discord, or game forums here on steam. Thank you for your endless awesomeness and support! Bug Fixes and Changes: Furniture is now rooted when placed, so it can't be knocked over. It can still be deconstructed with F key. Fixed an issue where the crate widget wasn't always closing when moving away from the crate. Fixed an issue where some mobs weren't moving when loading in. Fixed an issue where some items when loaded in were floating. Dense piles of stacked items may still look a little funky when loading, and this is simply due to how they organize themselves upon load. Added further optimization to how…
- Alpha Release! - 1 December 2022
After extensive testing, R'lyeh is finally ready to release to the public. Chapter one opens up to the island of the twin sisters, introducing three major characters, story, over a hundred craft-related items, and three dungeons. Welcome to your new and final home. Chapter two will be expected to release within the next six months, with consecutive chapters following the same timeline thereafter. Of course, owning a copy of R'lyeh grants access to all six chapters as they come out, with no further purchase needed. Since this is our alpha release, there may be some bugs here or there that we haven't caught. Please make sure to report them either in our Discord, or the proper channels in the Steam forum. R'lyeh has been a huge passion project that I've worked hard on, with over 6000 hours spent in production. While I am the sole developer, I have had the pleasure to meet and work with som…
- Bug Fixes and Changes - 30 November 2022
Hello dear eldritch horrors! Most of the recent changes are improvements and refinements, with some notable fixes listed below. We are expecting to release to Early Access any day now, just waiting on Steam for approval! Bug Fixes and Changes: Building steps and doors were sometimes invisible when loading in, this should now be fixed. Building roofs and sloped walls had some issues with their scale when loading, this is now fixed. Fixed an issue where respawning resources sometimes duplicated. Forge has been better optimized. Night cycle is now slightly shorter.
- Bug Fixes and News - 29 November 2022
We're actively moving R'lyeh from UE4 to UE5.1! This will allow us much better control in optimization, among a swath of other fantastic attributes to continue to refine R'lyeh. Bug Fixes and Changes: Campfire is now easier to interact with when cooking. Was a bit clunky. Mushrooms and meat can both be cooked on a skillet placed on a campfire. Fixed a bug where you can pick the tap up even though it's been attached to a mushroom tree. Fixed tap not always orienting to mushroom tree properly. Fixed issue with equipment physics not working properly when dropped/placed.
- Dev Release: Bug Fixes and Updates - 28 November 2022
While we're waiting for the game to release to Alpha status for the public (expected within 1-3 days) we're always making further bug fixes and updates to improve R'lyeh. Aside from further work on performance and quality of life, the following changes have been made: Fixed a bug where the HandyPal wasn't responding when within the bounds of a trigger, such as a gateway. Fixed collision for bell logs so they are always recognized by the craft bench. Fixed an event outside the temple that sometimes caused player to freeze/unable to move. Tweaked Wamp AI to better respond to attacks from the player. Fixed an issue with poison sometimes not going away when no longer exposed to source. Fixed an issue with sunsets going entirely black for about 20 seconds before night lighting triggers. Cost of buckets has been reduced. Was 2 metal tubes and 3 planks, now 2 metal ingots and 3 planks. Fixed a…
- New Item Interaction System - 27 November 2022
Fixed the overlapping issues with items and completely reworked how it functions. It should now be much easier to interact with items in the world, and give a slight reduction in performance costs. Please make sure to report any bugs you might come across. As with any update of this nature, they have a bit higher of a chance to show up.
- Development Release! - 19 November 2022
It's been a long, crazy road, and R'lyeh is officially sending out keys to all of our backers and development testers. This initially phase is to get feedback for the game, find and fix bugs, and impliment changes based on suggestions and feedback. Once we're satisfied with that, we will be releasing the Alpha version of R'lyeh to the public. Expect frequent bug fixes during this time if you're a tester. If you'd like to offer feedback or bug reports, please do so in the appropriate channel on our Discord. Welcome to R'lyeh!
- Release Update - 16 May 2022
As R'lyeh draws closer to release, we're finalizing some backend work on systems and running plenty of debug tests. We went to ensure the game is vigorously tested before players receive it, of course. Currently, we're about a month and a half ahead of schedule and are hoping to run private player testing within a few weeks. Depending on feedback and (hopefully) minimal bug fixes, we could release the game to the public as early as July. The initial release of the game will introduce you to the crash site and the starting island. Here, there are numerous secrets to uncover, dungeons, things to build, and things to try and survive. Not only will you need to be aware of your environment and the things within it, but also the day and nights. When the bloated red sun rises, you better hope you're ready. There are six total chapters to be released over time, and we're looking at a chapter re…
