- The Soulchain Public Playtest is OUT - 30 August 2026
Hey! We're really excited to announce that the PUBLIC PLAYTEST FOR SOULCHAIN IS OUT NOW! To join, click the button in the game's store page! What does the Playtest include? If you didn't know, Soulchain is a precision-platformer with metroidvania-like progression that uses a physics-based grappling hook as its core mechanic. During the playtest, you'll get to try out this grappling hook and see for yourself how it combines precision with physical accuracy.Another key feature of Soulchain is its structure. It is a metroidvania, yeah, but it also doesn't have items. Instead, progression is locked by knowledge and skill with the movement system. You'll often ignore passages that seem unreachable, only to come back later and realize that you could always have reached them with the right use of the grapple. You'll get to experience that during the playtest. Your first playthrough will probably…

We have been working on it since before we started on Sisyphus Is a Bug, and are coming close to the announcement of a public demo. But, before we bring the game to a wider audience, we are organizing a closed beta so we can iron out a few quirks. Wanna get early access to our upcoming game and get your name in the credits? You can join our Discord and sign up via the forms below to get a chance to participate! We'll be selecting 25 people for this first batch, but more people might get called later…

- We're releasing a game this year! Meet Sisyphus, the Dung Beetle - 28 August 2025
Hey, it's been a while. We have news! The Soulchain team participated in this year's GMTK Game Jam, which had the theme Loop. The game we made is called Sisyphus Is a Bug, which is a little knowledgevania about a dung beetle called Sisyphus. After dirtying the marble halls of Olympus with his ball of dung, Zeus punishes Sisyphus to rolling it up and down Mount Olympus every day, for the rest of his life. The only way to escape his eternal punishments is to complete a task that seems impossible: reaching Olympus before the sunset. In the game, you'll play through Sisyphus' punishment one day at a time, during which you'll have 60 seconds to explore before tumbling down the mountain, learning new ways to move along the way. The game is a knowledgevania platformer, just like Soulchain! Given the attention we got, ranking among the top 20 most rated and placing among the top 1% in score, we t…
- Wishlist our new game - Soulchain! - 26 March 2025
Hey, candle stabbers! Been a while, huh? I've come to announce the launch of the Steam page of the new game we've been working on, Soulchain! https://store.steampowered.com/app/3383610/Soulchain Soulchain is a non-linear, physics-based platformer about using your soul as a grappling hook. It demands a fair amount of precision and quick reflexes but, above that, traversing the seasons of the Afterlife is all about using your soul creatively, so there's plenty of puzzle-solving to be found. The game's world is heavily inspired by knowledge-based metroidvanias, in the sense that everything is accessible from the get go, and your only limitation is your knowledge about the game's movement mechanics. This is a project I've been very passionate about since even before Candle Prick was out, so it's really exciting to be putting this out. I hope you're as excited for the full launch as I am! Oh…
- Candle Prick is out! - 9 November 2022
Hey! Candle Prick is out and I'm very happy people have been enjoying it. I'm actually surprised by how many people went the extra mile to fully complete the game, finishing all levels, acquiring all palettes, and hunting for all the secret achievements. The launch sale is ending in about 21 hours from when I'm writing this, so this is your last chance to use it! I recently created two pinned threads in the discussion forums, one for feedback, for comments on difficulty progression, aesthetics or whatever else, and one for bug reporting. In the next weeks, I'll be working to fix any bugs people find, as well as listening to your feedback and making improvements on the existing levels. Please be patient though! I'm also a college student so I can't spent all day working on the game :p Thank you for playing, wishlisting and talking about the game! If you haven't already, consider leaving…
- Candle Pricks awarded for best design in a student game at SBGames 2022! - 2 November 2022
Hey! Last week, Candle Prick was shown off at the game festival in SBGames, the Brazilian Symposium of Games and Digital Entertainment, and won the award for best design in a student game! The game had already been a part of BIG Festival a couple months ago, but that was in a non-competitive category. Walking out of the event with an award was super cool. They even got me a commemorative mug! And that's it! I hope you're all excited to play the game once it launches this friday! Get ready to get the launch discount! See you soon! Moraguma
- Candle Prick is coming November 4th! - 21 September 2022
Hey! So, a little background first. Candle Prick was the student games section at Brazil's Independent Games (BIG) Festival this July! I met a lot of very talented indie devs and got some very valuable feedback. On the first day, I even got Shuhei Yoshida, Sony's ex-president (!!!), to play my game though he thought it was very hard. It was incredible! Here's a pic of the devs and me together. You can see Candle Prick's stand all the way to the left! What I got from watching people play was that Candle Prick was missing some context and some opportunities to rest in between levels. This made me realize the game was a little more than a few extra levels from completion, so I got to work. Right now, even though the game is pretty much complete, it could still benefit a lot from some extra weeks for playtesting. As such, Candle Prick's launch date has been moved to November 4th! But don't…
