- SITREP [08/2026] - 27 August 2026
Hi!It's time for another SITREP update which covers the development progression in August. The format here is the usual, so categorizing these topics to each upcoming build that has received some development hours recently.Build 2Build 2 (Nomads) is relatively close to the finish line and there's only few topics left from the content that I have planned for this build. The missing elements are mostly tied to polishing the new maps, fine-tuning the AI vs. AI combat mechanics, adding some new task-based items and playtesting the build. Many of you are probably wondering when this Build 2 is going to be released, so I'm happy now to announce that the release date will be shared on this new game show called FPS Games Show that I'm participating in Sept 3.FPS Games Show is a brand new concept that only focuses on FPS related titles and there's going to be all kinds of updates, reveals and trai…
- SITREP [07/2026] - 25 July 2026
Hi!It's time for another SITREP update which covers the development progression in July. The format here is going to be same as in previous SITREP, so categorizing these topics to each upcoming build that has received some development hours recently.Build 2Build 2 development and the friendly faction Nomads has been progressing like expected and I would say the build is roughly 75% complete in terms of planned features and content. In the last SITREP, I already showcased the Nomad characters visually, so this time I want to talk a little about the tech related to AI overhaul in general.Let's use this debug scene for demonstrating few core tech elements:Previously the AI basically only received data from the player which meant that AI wasn't aware of any other targets than you. This obviously isn't doable for the Build 2 where the AI needs to "visualize" multiple different targets and prio…
- SITREP [06/2026] - 17 June 2026
Hi!Hopefully you have had a great early summer, mine has definitely been busy and full of interesting events and tasks related to upcoming development.Since making devlogs on Youtube is rather time consuming and the next video still missing some content and editing, I decided that making some sort of text-based monthly SITREP's (Situation Report) would be a good way to communicate as well.So here's the first SITREP which covers wide range of topics from this month.Build 2 & NomadsIn terms of Road to Vostok roadmap, my obvious priority at the moment is the Build 2 (Nomads) which introduces that friendly faction and bunch of AI related improvement.Work towards this build is going accordingly to plans and here's some relevant info. The first set of Nomad characters have been made and ready to be "rigged" for the animations and upcoming new AI systems. The Nomad boss called Hunter is also ful…
- What's Next (Build 2) - 25 April 2026
Hi!I decided that now is a good time to talk about upcoming content and what’s next for Road to Vostok.I have already discussed these topics in various places, but there hasn't been a single curated place for this information, so this post is going to be exactly that.Next StepsIt has been a little over two weeks since the Early Access launch. So far, I have implemented one patch focusing on stability, but there are still multiple issues that need to be addressed before I can start working on the next major builds on the roadmap. In a perfect scenario, I will release one more patch within a 2-3 weeks. This patch will include "missing content" that I didn’t manage to finish for the launch build, multiple bug fixes and specific stability improvements, since the last patch took "two steps forward, one step back" for certain hardware setups.Once this second patch is live and if there are no m…

Didn't expect to see me here, did you? Well, as always there's a new - if slightly abbreviated - week of PC games to dissect. Edwin's away travelling the world and hopefully encountering some tolerable bed and breakfasts, so I've popped in to see what sorts of stuff we can stick in the Maw in order to keep it happy for the next few days. Wish me luck! Read more

- Demo Reset & Rendering Changes (DirectX) - 10 March 2026
Hi everyone! With the Early Access launch approaching on April 7, it’s time to make some necessary changes to the current Road to Vostok demo regarding rendering and drivers.Current Demo RecapTo provide some context, here is the state of the current demo:The demo currently uses Vulkan as the default rendering architecture.Vulkan has caused several driver issues, particularly for users with AMD hardware. The demo contained few critical bugs and collision issues where players could get stuck. The Switch to DirectXTo avoid these Vulkan-related issues at launch, the upcoming Early Access version will use DirectX as the default option. To ensure rendering and performance parity between the demo and the Early Access build, I am updating the demo to DirectX as well.In order to implement this update, I unfortunately have to reset the demo entirely. This means overriding all game files, including e…

Hi everyone!I'm excited to announce that Road to Vostok is soon coming to Steam Early Access!Launch date: April 7, 2026.Launch price: 14,99€ | 19,99€ (25% launch discount)Early access trailer and announcement video:I also want to mention a few things, since this is my first official post here.I have been solo-developing this project for around four years now. From the start, I have tried to focus on transparency, communication and constant updates which has resulted in the following numbers:+1,000,000 demo downloads+600,000 wishlists+1000 social media posts43 Youtube videos7 demos / demo updatesHowever, when you're a solo-developer you cannot be everywhere at once and I made the decision back in 2022 that I will start focusing on regular Steam community updates only when the game is outside of it's demo lifecycle, which is pretty much now.I have been struggling with this decision many t…
