- New Weapons Update for Infested Planet - 5 May 2018
There's a new weapons patch out for Infested Planet, specifically improving the Planetary Campaign expansion. Since our players enjoyed the procedural campaign so much, I decided to add a few new toys for free. Each tech tree is randomised, so adding a few new options is a good way to shake the game up. http://store.steampowered.com/app/529620/ New Weapons Here are the new tools for your alien-fighting pleasure. They will show up in your campaigns, randomly replacing old tech. You can also check them out in the custom game mode (if you have the DLC). Toxic Bomb We've already had airstrikes in the game. Now this technology allows you to drop a poison cloud on the enemy hives, killing all the bugs in the area. On October 10th, Infested Planet will be getting a massive update. The new "Planetary Campaign" DLC will add randomly generated campaigns to the game. You start out outnumbered by the enemy and with primitive technology. As you fight battles and conquer the map, you can unlock new technology to use in tactical portion of the game. The tech progression is unique for every single campaign, so you have to be flexible in what weapons you use. Even Infested Planet veterans will find some new tech that's exclusive to the DLC. Of course, it wouldn't be Infested Planet if the enemy didn't mutate to counter your tactics. The aliens analyse your play style, evolve campaign mutations and force you to adapt. Put your general's hat back on and return to Infested Planet on October 10th!

The game is about to get a new mini-expansion: "The Trickster's Arsenal". The details of what's inside are still being worked on, but I can announce some new combat abilities. The DLC is going to add 7 new powers, kind of like the chopper strike, but with different effects. For example, one ability is STASIS FIELD - you can fire it at a hive and freeze everything in the area. The hive can't take damage, but it also can't do anything to you. Good for splitting up enemies. Another one is OVERDOSE - you lose some health, but your marines go into a frenzy. The abilities allow you to fight in new ways, like teleporting across the map to deal with an emergency. At least some parts of the DLC will be free to everyone who owns the game. For example, I didn't want to split the leaderboards between DLC and non-DLC, so the new abilities are unlocked for everyone if you're playing a leaderboard map…
