Whenever I see that an old game has received a surprise update out of the blue, it immediately gets my attention. Is it preparing for some kind of revival or unexpected new content? Did a huge bug get uncovered after all these years? Is it preparing to be in a huge sale or bundle? Whatever the reason ends up being, it's hard not to pique my interest when this situation arises - a situation that GTA-style crime game Retro City Rampage DX just found itself in. - Retro City Rampage DX - Update v2.10 - 15 November 2024
It's been over twelve years since Retro City Rampage originally released, and I'm excited to announce that a new update is now available for PC, Mac, and Linux. This quality-of-life update addresses various bugs, compatibility, and performance issues (many reported by you, thank you!). v2.10 CHANGES | 2024/11/14 New Audio Engine (Windows) Replaced DirectSound with XAudio2 for improved performance and compatibility. DirectX Renderer (Windows) Fixed re-initialization errors that could occur when switching modes. Leaderboards If leaderboards appear to be unavailable (ie. if you're offline), the game will no longer continuously attempt to read them. This should improve performance when playing offline.
