- Mini Devlog#7 - 7 August 2026
Hello, I am Shibuya, the developer behind Glaciered at Studio Snowblind. It's been a while since the last devlog, I've been heads-down in the final stretch of development these past few months. Don't worry, everything's going well. Last week I sat down with the folks at our publisher PLAYISM to tweak the final boss. We think it'll be a worthy finale to your journey. This devlog will be a short one, just a quick sneak peek at some new stuff. Look how lively our home is! Ever wanted to pet the far-future marine weirdos? In the full version, that is likely to happen. Think dodging is your only option when a gigantic shark charges at you? With enough muscle, you might just be able to parry it. I can't wait to see you muscle min-max enjoyers parrying sharks and crocs. This is not just a Muscle-exclusive thing. Brain, Nerves, Heart, and Skeleton, when you upgrade your stats, new abilities wil…
- Devlog#6 RPG, or not RPG? - 20 April 2026
Hello, I am Shibuya, the developer behind Glaciered at Studio Snowblind. I have always approached this game as an action game, and that's how I've been portraying it. No doubt, action is the core of this title. However, there are some aspects of the game I haven't talked about as much. Those are the RPG elements. The term ‘RPG elements’ probably means different things to different people, but for me, it refers to games with 'strong role-playing elements,' like the The Elder Scrolls series, Dragon Age, and Baldur's Gate. In Glaciered, the protagonist is fixed, so the role-playing elements are somewhat limited right out of the gate. On the other hand, some people think of RPGs in terms of growth elements. That is, having a lot of character progression elements. If you hear 'RPG' and think of progression elements, then this title is definitely an RPG. This brings me to my topic today, the…

Hi, thank you for playing the demo! We have just released a new hotfix, which includes the following: Fixed a bug that caused certain ambient sounds to not be affected by volume settings. Fixed an issue in Low graphics quality settings where the Guedu 3D model would appear to have polygon issues when performing certain animations. (Note: This problem will still be present in the lowest quality settings, but please understand this setting is a tradeoff of graphics quality for better performance) Fixed an issue that caused Pui commands to be randomized repeatedly when moving in certain caves and near ceilings. Fixed certain cutscenes so that Gray would not unintentionally be in frame. Fixed a bug where triggering a tutorial during Photo Mode would sometimes allow character movement inputs while still in Photo Mode. Reduced the number of particle effects for power attacks to improve game p…

This was mainly happening in French, German, and other specific regions. Fixed an issue where default weapons (wings) were unintentionally duplicated when switching save slots. - Thank You for Over 40k Wishlists (Top 700 Most Wishlisted on Steam)! - 20 November 2024
Hello, I'm Shibuya from Studio Snowblind, the developer of Glaciered. Last weekend, Glaciered acheived over 30,000 40,000 wishlists on Steam, and even got into the top 1000 700 most wishlisted games on Steam! To a small indie developer like me, it's almost hard to believe how big that number is. I would like to thank you all for your continuous support and for looking forward to the game. (Update: We got even more wishlists, reaching 40,000 in the short time after the announcement. Thank you so much for your support!) I try to read all the feedback you give based on your experiences with the demo. Some of it has already been reflected in the demo through updates, but some others need more time, such as adjusting the camera. I'll continue to work hard to improve on the game throughout development. And thanks to your support, I have two exciting announcements to make today! First, you'll…
- Demo Update v0.7.255 - 15 November 2024
Hi, thank you so much for playing the demo! Since the demo was released, we are very happy that so many people have played the demo and given us very constructive feedback. We just released an update that includes new features, balance tweaks, and bug fixes based on community feedback. New Features Resting Spot Overhaul Now you can access your stash from the resting spots! Ask our fish friend Pui, to bring the items to the hideout. So they are safe from dropping by death. The default stash space is also doubled. You can even fast travel directly to the hideout without opening the menu. This makes patching yourself up a lot easier. Pui deserves more love! You can now rescue your Pui by holding down the interact button close to the Pui that is playing dead. This option is available both in and out of combat. However, you will be defenseless during the rescue, so be careful. Tutorials only…
- Demo Mini-Update v0.7.249 - 10 November 2024
Hi, thank you so much for playing the demo. We have added some features, bug fixes and balance adjustments based on our community feedback. Showing Salvage Result on the Item Screen The items you get when salvaging a salvageable item are now displayed on the item screen. No more wasting materials because you have no idea what you will get. Balance Changes and Small Feature Updates The amount of healing fog released when Pui is set to assist mode has been changed from 25% of your maximum HP to a fixed 30HP. The initial design was make Pui more useful for high-level players for the production version, but 25% of maximum HP was too low for many players playing the demo version. Paging tabs on the menu screen can now be accessed with A/D or left/right directional keys when you are using keyboard + mouse control. Note that this feature may require resetting your key bindings. Stereo, Surroun…
- Demo Hotfix v0.7.248 - 8 November 2024
Hi, thank you so much for playing the demo and giving us your valuable feedback! This patch is very small and contains just one change; but it's impactful on the gameplay ●Taking a short rest on save points now refreshes your healing count. The core idea of the design was intended to remind players to return to the hideout for the long rest buffs and progressions but it was not a good idea. Instead of punishing players, there should have been an incentive to return to the base. These incentives will not be introduced in the demo, but we decided that at least the healing restrictions that punish players should be removed. We will continue to introduce incentives in the release version. Note that there is a line in the dialog of the unknown voice(seeker)that says something like "You must rest in the hideout to regain your healing count", but don't mind it. This requires an additional reco…
- Hotfix v0.7.247 - 8 November 2024
Hi, thank you for playing the demo! We released the a hotfix, which includes New Option Screen Replaced the option screen on the title screen with a UI that has the same functionality as the in-game options. We apologize you might have thought “WTF the lackluster options!?" Maybe not fancy as AAA games, but for an indie game, we believe we are providing decent amount of options. If there are any other additional options you would like to see, please let us know in the Steam forums or on the official Discord server. Bug fixes and optimizations Fixed an issue that caused sound crackling in 5.1ch and 7.1ch environments Optimization of shader preloading process Balancing update We nerfed Reega (Male). It was a bit too much for a tutorial enemy. But it is still not a weak enemy, they are still bad boys. Reduced the base dammage of the Reega Male lightning balls to 12 from 15 Slightly reduced…

- Steam Demo Out Now! Looking Forward to Your Thoughts and Feedback! - 7 November 2024
Hello! I'm Shibuya from Studio Snowblind, the developer of Glaciered. Surprise! We've released a demo for Glaciered, available right now! https://store.steampowered.com/app/2486780 Over the duration of Tokyo Game Show, many players visited the PLAYISM booth to play the Glaciered event demo. Even early in the day, we already had so many visitors that we needed to give out numbered tickets for people to come back to the queue later. In order to let as many people play the game as possible, we shortened the play time of the demo as much as we could, but still we sometimes had to turn down people due to the long wait times. We're sorry we couldn't let everyone who wanted to play the game have a chance to try it out.In order to let more people try out Glaciered, we carefully discussed releasing the demo to the public, and now we're confident that the timing is right. This new demo is differe…

- Devlog #4 Introducing the Seeker's Hideout, the Pui, and Photo Mode - 17 June 2024
Hello. I'm Shibuya from Studio Snowblind, the developer of Glaciered. It's been a while since my last devlog, but the development of Glaciered is going along smoothly. Today, I would like to introduce to you the Seeker's Hideout, which will be your main base, and the Pui, a trusty companion who will accompany you on your harsh journey across the seas. You will encounter the Seeker early on in the game, who will later let you use the Seeker's Hideout as your base of operations. Here you will find all sorts of facilities you can use to strengthen yourself. You can rest, eat a meal, strengthen your wings (equipment), trade, and raise your companion, who I'll introduce later on in this devlog. This particularly large crystal is the Great Glacium Crystal, which is the equivalent to a smithy or workbench you may be familiar with in other games. Here you can spend materials to craft new wings…
- Devlog #3 Action Gameplay Mostly Complete! New Creature Designs and Gameplay Rev - 20 November 2023
Hello, I’m Shibuya from Studio Snowblind, the developer of Glaciered. Today, I’ll share some information on our development progress. The core action gameplay is mostly complete, and right now I’m working on the various creatures and stages to flesh out the world of the game. In this devlog, I’ll share some of that with you all. About the Creatures The Diye is a type of shark that has developed a thick armor around its skull. It can’t swim very fast and moves sluggishly, but it relentlessly chases down its enemies and weakens them until it can swallow them whole. Its tough head armor deflects all kinds of attacks, and also acts as a powerful weapon. Beware of its rock-hard headbutts and bites if you want to get out in one piece. The key to victory is to find the more vulnerable parts of its body to attack. The Paki is a type of arthropod that evolved from Japanese horseshoe crabs and re…
