- Now with English voices and alternate soundtracks! - 19 February 2020
The English voice track for Ys: The Oath in Felghana, originally exclusive to the console release, has been added as part of an update to the PC version. Additionally, the alternate soundtracks from the console version (PC-88 and X68K) have been implemented. The configuration tool and options menu have been updated with a voice volume slider and a BGM Type button. Voices will be disabled if the voice volume slider is set to 0.

Nihon Falcom’s RPG series Ys is continuing its meandering journey over to PC piece-by-piece, with 2012’s Ys: Memories Of Celceta due to officially find its way from PlayStation Vita to PC in summer 2018. I’ve no experience with the series myself but people speak fondly of it and seem glad when more games come to PC so good, here’s some good news for such people. Not long ago it was unthinkable that Japanese RPGs would be ported to PC, much less that some of the best JRPGs ever made would find their way to our platform. Japanese RPGs actually have a rich and mostly forgotten PC history , and that's finally come back around. Today, you can play blockbusters like Final Fantasy on PC, cult favorites like The Legend of Heroes, and even western games made in the style of Japanese RPGs. This page on Steam is looking increasingly healthy, as JRPG-focused developer Nihon Falcom gradually ports many of its old (and less old) games to PC, and to Steam. T rails of Cold Steel is the next up, due in just over a week, but it seems the company has plans to release many more of its titles over the coming months. I'm a latecomer to the Ys series, but after playing, and enjoying, the original game for the first time a few months ago, I've become quite excited to play the rest. They're like much faster, much more action-packed takes on the Zelda formula, at least from what I've played and seen of the series. Ys I, II, III: The Oath in Felghana , and prequel Ys Origin finally came to Western PCs (to GOG, the Humble store and Steam) a while ago, and now publisher XSEED has announced that another is on the way.
