Hey everyone! Pepper Grinder launched just under a month ago, and thousands of you have played it. The reception has been mindblowing, and I am forever grateful for your support and the invaluable feedback you have provided since the launch. It helped shape this update and make the game better across the board. With this update, Pepper Grinder gets full support for PlayStation and Switch gamepads, a new speedrun timer, and numerous quality-of-life changes and bug fixes. - Pepper Grinder review: short, sweet and incredibly neat - 28 March 2024
Pepper Grinder is one of those games that has so many great moments in it that recounting them would almost feel unfair to anyone hoping to play it. There are feats of platforming prowess on show here that should really be experienced fresh and unsullied by rudimentary descriptions of them, because to say anymore would be to spoil the surprise. This feels doubly important when the game itself is so fleeting in length, its brief and dizzying journey through the dirt, magma, ice and marshy bogs of this strange, treasure-stuffed island coming to a swift conclusion in just over three and a half hours. It left me wanting more the moment the credits rolled, but deep down I know it's also perfectly formed just the way it is. Rather than outstay its welcome, Pepper Grinder shows up, performs its party trick, then gets the hell out of the way, leaving you to bask in the warm glow of a good game…

- Pepper Grinder Demo is Available Now Ahead of Next Fest! - 2 February 2024
The Steam Next Fest February 2024 Edition starts next week, February 5, but you can jump into the Pepper Grinder demo today! Starting now, you can follow Pepper as she wields her trusty sidearm and drill through the first few levels of the Mole Hills region after being washed up to shore. Big, mostly peaceful Molemen live here. They’re all pretty cool dudes, but their quiet natures are being tested by Narling incursions. Drill through each level to reclaim your treasure with an additional Time Attack Mode, hit up the shop, and get creative by designing your first sticker book page. It's been a long, winding road to get here since the first prototype all the way back in 2016, so it feels pretty surreal to have the release in sight and the demo already in people's hands! If Ubisoft's impressive Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown caught your eye last month, you need to keep Devolver Digital's new indie platformer, Pepper Grinder , on your radar. A 2D side-scroller with all the hallmarks of an excellent addition to the genre, developer Ahr Ech's pixelated pirate adventure wonderfully blends traditional platforming action with a drilling mechanic that makes traversal feel as much like 1992's Ecco the Dolphin as it does the brick-breaking adventures of Bandai Namco's Mr Driller. Beyond that, when it comes to combat and puzzles, this frantic experience feels like the natural evolution of the power tool-fuelled dungeoneering of 2006's Drill Dozer - a Game Boy Advance great. Steam Next Fest doesn't officially start until next Monday, February 5th, but what the heck, everyone's putting their demos live early this year, it seems, and another one that's just popped the cork ahead of time is Pepper Grinder , the excellent-looking pixel platformer where you're burrowing through bedrock with a heckin' great drill in your hands as you attempt to steal back your treasure from some pesky pirates. I was instantly smitten with this one when it was first unveiled at the end of 2022, and the more I've seen of it, the more it's risen into becoming one of my most anticipated games of 2024 . Happily, its Next Fest demo doesn't disappoint, as it not only feels wonderful in the hands, but ooof, it really knows how to do a good plinky plink coin jostle. My word. Read more

I've been eagerly anticipating Pepper Grinder since I saw a series of tweets with GIFs several years ago. It's a pixel platformer in which the protagonist, Pepper, has a drill which she uses to plow through scenery, and a grappling hook for all the moments when she's not underground.
