- V28: Antares Boss - 15 September 2023
Hey RICE fans! More update goodness coming your way today. In fact, we're now officially on update #28! Lots of updates and lots of yummy RICE content to enjoy. We'll share the notes on all the new content you'll find in this update in just a sec, but first we wanna give a heads-up to the RICE community: on October 2, the base price of the game will be increasing to $5 USD (or the Steam equivalent for your region)! As we were working on this update, we felt like now was the time to update the change in price. It's super-important to us that RICE provides not just loads of fun for players, but also loads of value for the price. After nearly thirty free updates, we felt it would be justifiable to bump the price as a reflection of the work we've put in these past few months and certainly hope you agree! But don't worry if you've been on the fence about snagging the game while it's still $3…
- V27: Misc QoL Update - 24 August 2023
Small patch for today as the next boss fight is still being worked on. Changes: Stars now have 5 Stability, which means they take at least 10 hits to kill. Rewrote flame particles to use the less laggy particle system. Sun's particle spam has been toned down. Projectiles now fully expand before dying, to make large projectile builds more fun. When you draw a full hand, the UI is more reasonable and easier to see and use. Lightning now affected by projectile transparency. Added Clear button for the metaboard loadouts. Added option to remove game pause on window unfocus. Added medal counters to metaboard. Can now scroll the metaboard result medal list. Dev Note: Small patch for now, I planned to get the new boss Antares out this patch but I feel short on time. This patch was also delayed for some other reasons hence why it's only coming out this week. I have already started on the next pa…

- V25: End of Stage Boss - 24 July 2023
Additions: At the end of stage, you fight the sun before moving onto the next stage. Secret sun boss at the end of Dev Note: Finally back from holidays with a small patch, but one that adds a new system. I’ll hopefully be able to add more star types in the future which’ll give some variety to the end of stage experience rather than just sitting around waiting for the sun to die. Currently the sun doesn’t scale with anything, so it’ll likely be very easy for players using a full board of metaprogression. Of course, stars aren’t the only bosses that’ll be in the game, we already have some boss enemies spirited up waiting to be implemented
- v24 Changelog - 15 June 2023
Changelog: Meta-Medals can now be flipped in the board. You can now Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V on the meta screen to copy and paste builds. You can now have meta-loadouts. Added a new map, a Mushroom themed one! Can only appear in stage two or three. Medal board will no longer reset every version. Ice map can now appear in stage one. The maps that didn’t have ambience before now have ambience. ‘Trust Me’ is 10x more common and Dev Note: A very empty patch, mostly due to a lot of backend rewriting how medals are stored, but hopefully medals should be a lot easier to manage now! I really like the new map, it feels fun to try zip around on the brooks, trust me
- V23: Card balance and bug fixes - 2 June 2023
Changelog: Card drawing has been rewritten, leading to some minor differences in how it works. Drawing gold cards now draws at least +1 silver at minimum. Gem cards can now be drawn randomly at an extremely low chance. If you draw a gem card randomly, you draw 2 golds and 2 silvers at minimum. Special level like Gem, Arsenal and Gold do no longer delete eachother but rather delay eachother to the next level. Fixed arbitrary getting offered multiple Gem cards. Pot of meta-gold is now always in the same spot when choosing rewards. Metacurrency earning has been rewritten, you will recover metacurrency if you return to main menu or the game crashes/closes unexpectedly. You no longer lose all metacurrency on stage 2, but rather just lose any multipliers. If you die on stage 3 without taking damage, you don't lose skill check bonus metacurrency. CON has been changed to be a little less confus…

- V21: QoL, bug fixes, new cards! - 11 May 2023
V21 Changelog: Certain medals can now be attached to weapons! This allows you to isolate certain effects on specific weapons if you wish. Homing, Multi-Shot and Branching now HAVE to be attached to weapons in order to work. Each weapon can hold infinite bronze/silver medals. However, They can only hold gold/gem medals equal to their tier (so the first upgraded sword can only hold 2 gem/gold cards) The Weapon UI was updated to support medals, also with some minor improvements to the weapon stats bar. The loud sounds were fixed, and there are now two contingencies to prevent it from happening again. There is now a silver card called "Inventory" that allows you to store extra weapons. You can now delete Weapons and Upgrades from your inventory by holding right click on them. Pot of Meta-Gold now gives 100 extra for every previous pot you've picked up. Weapon rewards from planets will now b…
- V20: FPS, QoL, Frostbite Improvements - 5 May 2023
Changelog: Hard at work on more fixes! Check them out! Rewrote the game’s rendering pipeline, so hopefully FPS should be improved. Planets are now affected by cold, so they can take Frostbite damage. Fixed Frostbite’s description, and buffed it’s damage x2. Fixed frostbite having the incorrect meta-size and added new meta-effects for it. Frostbite Slots: Fingerfood: Heal upon enemies taking frostbite damage. Frostbitter Gold Line: Enemies die if they have less HP than your frost. Ignite and Frostbite now proc every half a second, so they’re more effective. Fireball now converts pierce+bounce to size. Golden Bounce/Boing now gives 4 bounces so it’s inline with other golden cards. Summoners are now capped by how many enemies they can spawn. The final summon has been drastically buffed and will ruin your day if it manages to hit you. Contradictions Ascension now longer makes your explosion…
- Changelog v19: Fixing FPS/Memory Leaks - 3 May 2023

Fixed some bugs and text with Halo Added More Options Ability to turn off coin/exp orbits Shaders being turned off affects some more things Can now turn off the slash animation 4K mode is turned off if your settings are loaded on a device with too small of a screen Weapon Crit descriptors are less confusing ("x2 crit chance" now instead of "200% crit chance") Projectiles from the Twins deal significantly less damage now The large black projectiles now pierce so it's easier to notice when you're hit by one If there is only 1 or 0 planets left, enemies can start spawning off screen, this way they won't clump around the sun Added 2 new cards: If I'm allowed to take off the mask and be serious for one moment-I would really apprec…
- Changelog for v18! - 2 May 2023
Changelog for v18: Yes yes, that's right. I provided a patch shortly after launch. You're all welcome. Honestly I can't remember some of the stuff I changed, but probably not too important. Memory Leaks fixed Options screen has been categorised to make space for new options Full Screen Option 4K Option, doubles the view of the game, a temporary fix Added Vertex Buffer Option (if you're getting blank screens on fullscreen this may help) Added options to configure bloom's quality/performance, with the ability to turn it off There's now an option to turn off some shader effects Added a fall back for alt+f4 to quit the game The time it takes to commit to ending a run is now twice as quick Grouped Slimes on higher personality ascension should no longer nuke you on death when they split Optimised bloom Enemies no longer shrink to the point of being invisible when inside blackholes Enemies wit…
