The leaders of each empire climbed up the completed Tower of Babel, and drank from the waters of the Oasis, transforming these men and women into godlike beings. The empires are ruthless, always at war with each other and oppressing their people. When you were young, your mother read you bedtime tales about mythical runes that were vital for the balance of the world and its elements, and gave their owner unbelievable power to change the world. It was heresy at the time, but your mother wanted to give you hope in such a broken world. Yours was a happy childhood, until your hometown was invaded by Gaulian troops. You were sent into the basement while your mother and father tried to defend their house, costing them their lives. You eventually ended up in the town of Kastelgrad, a city in the Neutral States, that are self-managed by mercenaries and adventurers, trying to make ends meet.
