- Demo Update 0.12.7 - 16 September 2026
Just a small update to fix a few bugs and make other improvements.Bug FixesFixed (I hope) the weird screen freeze bug that could occur moving between specific rooms in the jungle area. The good news is I have not been able to re-create the bug since implementing this fix, so if it still occurs for you please let me know in the comments or forums!Localization is now forced to English when the game starts which should fix placeholder translations being shown incorrectly.Fixed the 'W' icon missing from map compass when viewed horizontally.ImprovementsTweaks to volumetric fog to improved the performance.Optimizations to texture and memory usage in the valley area.Lighting system changes aimed at improving both visuals and performance.New FeaturesObjective markers have been added to the map to help guide players through the game. These are turned off by default and can be toggled on in the g…
- Demo patch 0.12.6 - 24 July 2026
Note: This patch is currently only available for the Windows version. The Mac version should be up within the next few days.Just a quick patch to fix some bugs:Fixed a collision issue in the elevator puzzle room after collecting the Surge ability that was causing a soft lock. Any save file in which the player is located in this room, will have the elevator's position will be reset and the player moved to a safe location.Fixed a bug that was causing placeholder translations to be displayed when the OS language was something other than English. The demo should now always default to English (the full release will include a range of localizations provided by professional translators). Also, new sound effects have been added for footsteps on various surfaces, dodecahedron impacts, and some other things.
- Demo Update 0.12.5 - 1 July 2026
Farewell to City of LysI hope everyone enjoyed taking a look at the City of Lys over the past month - because time is up! This new update removes the preview area, you'll have to wait until the full release to revisit it :)Demo Intro ChangesIn addition, this update removes the intro tutorial section from the main demo. I have received a lot of mixed feedback about this section, and indeed a number of players are giving up on the game before making it through to the end (which is a shame because feed back from players who continued to play past this point has generally been really good). This obviously isn't ideal and is a very strong sign that the intro needs more work. So for the time being the demo has been changed so that it begins after the intro would normally end, with some slight changes to the opening area to incorporate some basic tutorialization.Thank you to everyone who has pr…

- Demo Patch 0.11.3 - 13 May 2026
A minor update to fix a few bugs that found their way into the recent update. Including:Sensitivity issue when using the mouse on the map screen. Some UI issues.
- Demo Update 0.11.2 - 11 May 2026
Development continues on Memory's Reach with a lot of little tweaks and improvements making their way into the demo with this patch. But also some big changes to the level design and progression. Most notably: the Virishal Depths section has been removed from the demo. This was a semi-hidden section accessible after completing the main portion of the demo. However it's inclusion required a bit of custom work and as development continued and changes were being made, it was becoming difficult to maintain two different versions of the game. So I have made the decision to remove it from the demo, which will allow me to focus a lot less on maintaining parity between the demo and full game, and more time focusing on development. There's a few other little level design and progression changes in this update, as well as a host of tweaks and improvements.Level Design ChangesNote: Due to extensive…

- Demo Update 0.9.8 - 24 October 2025
Some minor updates to the demo as development on the full game continues.General Changes:Updated Unity Engine version to resolve a security issue identified by Unity in older versions of their engine. Some minor level design changes to incorporate the new carriable objects into the early areas of the game.To account for various brands of handhelds, the game will now detect if it is being run on a high DPI device (200 DPI or greater) with a screen width of less than 10 inches, and if so will use the Steam Deck default graphics settings. If you are running a more recent handheld device you can probably increase the graphics settings without a significant reduction in FPS.Added camera smoothing for mouse input. The cellular consistency of mushrooms has been stabilized (they no longer wiggle like they're made of jelly).New settings options:'Camera Smoothing' (Gameplay tab) - Adjust or disable…

In addition there's also a bunch lore, secrets, and extra hidden content as well! I have been eager to release a new, longer demo for Memory's Reach ever since releasing the pre-alpha demo last year. - Demo Update - 7 November 2024
Just a quick update to say that the Pre-Alpha Demo has been updated to the latest version, specifically the version that was shown at PAX Aus this year. Here's a list of the most visible changes: Many graphical improvements, especially to shaders and post effects. Added three additional hidden collectibles. Various minor tweaks to the gameplay and level design to improve flow. Additional settings added to the options menu. The long-awaited MacOS version is under development and should be out... soonish. Hopefully before the end of the year. As mentioned when it was first released, this demo is intended to be a 15-20 minute experience built for tradeshows. It is designed to give a good overview of the gameplay with the expectation that it is being played for a short time at a noisy show while people in epic cosplay stop by to watch and your friends distract you with the cool swag they ju…
- Memory's Reach will be at PAX Aus this October - 29 September 2024
Memory's Reach will be playable at PAX Aus this October. In addition to the latest version of the Pre-alpha demo (an updated version of the demo available on Steam) I'll also have the entirety of Sector 01 - the Kolgil Rainforest, available to play on request. An in-development version of this area was playtested at AvCon earlier this year, so I'm excited to have a more complete version ready now, with more finalized art, tweaked puzzle balance, and rejigged level design. The Kogil Rainforest is the first main area in the game, a massive scientific facility used to monitor the planet's life signs, long abandoned and reclaimed by the forest. Check out a couple of shots from the level below! If you're attending the show you can find me at booth #29 in the indie section, on the right as you enter from the Queue Hall. Stop by and say hi :D
