- Biomes update, new content - 26 June 2024
The biomes and vegetation update cycle begins. I've updated the data structure and increased the number of biomes represented in the game. At this time changes will be minor. This first step will allow me to introduce new trees and vegetation to the biomes without map updates. Older maps will be updated with time and their appearance may change significantly. All of this will not influence previous save files. These changes will be purely visual. New trains were added in today's update: J Class is a powerful steam locomotive that bridges the gap between Big Boy and less powerful steam locomotives in the second era NRE 3GS is a diesel locomotive with moderate power that will be very useful in the late game for routes that do not have a lot of cargo capacity ACS 64 is a powerful electric locomotive that has been requested for some time now and will be equally useful for passenger and frei…
- Industry, ports, and more - 20 May 2024
Hi everyone! I am happy to announce a new big update in Train World is live. Here are the changes that were made to the game since the last announcement. New features Added ability to set production in the cities. Now players will have to choose where each factory goes or what cargo the city is going to produce. There are multiple strategies possible as to how you assign production: shorter distances, higher train utilization, or maximum cargo consumption. Also, players will be able to see in advance what production will be available in the future and plan rail network expansion accordingly. Cities that have production in them will show industry buildings. Access to ports is now available. A nearby city will turn into a port city and will start to generate contracts to and from it. Also, ports will provide access to resources needed for production that are not available on the map. Some…
- New trains have arrived - 14 March 2024
Hi everyone! I am glad to announce the addition of new trains to the game. It took longer than I wanted, but I had to work on stabilizing the game after a big December update and then economics updates. Anyway, new trains are here, and more trains are added to the 3rd era, I will compensate for this by adding more trains to the 1st and 2nd era in the future. Next, I will start working on the new update where I want to start introducing a new management layer for industry and cities. I can't go into much detail as a lot of the features need to be tested first. Still, in general, I want to add more tools for the player to influence industry development in the region and individual city's development. I will not be posting here details on updates that were introduced. Detailed information on each update is now published in the dedicated topic in the discussions section. Let me know what lo…
- Work continues - 24 January 2024
The main focus of recent updates was on improving the economic aspect of both passenger and freight transportation. A lot of work was done on streamlining train creation and editing processes. The Research section got a big update, a softer transition between eras was introduced. Several important tools were added as well, two new maps were introduced, and some visual improvements were made. Here is an overview of the changes since the last announcement. New stuff: One-time contracts are now displayed on the map Added ability to change one-way rail direction during station or depot during construction/edit Added zero start for economy data logs Added data selection slider instead of only showing the last quarter Added data time scale for company-related graphs Transfer passengers have boarding priority Passenger loading is made proportional to waiting amounts Added "Mouse movement" opti…
- Happy new year! - 31 December 2023
I wish you a Happy New Year! To be honest, this was not an easy year to put it lightly. Most important we made it. The release and first big update are behind us. A lot was achieved, mistakes were made, and a lot of knowledge and experience was picked up. During the past week a lot of small updates and fixes were made. Here is an overview on what was done: Fixed train teleportation on rail/signal construction Fixed train teleportation on train wagons edit Improved incorrect direction of movement on route edit Reduced prices on the passenger wagons for medium era Numerous localization fixes Added station name to station options panel Fixed a couple of small bugs Fixed stuck passengers after route edit Fixed terminal selection Fixed incorrect waypoint selection after route edit Reputation points for region opening is lowered a bit Fixed estimated train speed calculations for freight train…
- Big update arrived - 21 December 2023
I am happy to say that the Big update is here. In my previous announcements, I already shared some information on the changes. Here is the last part. Reputation: Calculated each time the train delivers cargo. Train utilization and connection utilization are taken into account Reputation controls how many research points a player gets Low reputation will block loans or the unlocking of new regions Achievements: In-game achievements are almost the same as Steam achievements, but they are unique for each session and provide an additional income stream Achievements are useful, especially during the early stages when cash is low Trains inventory: Added inventory allows a player to keep locomotives and wagons for future use This is very handy for completing one-time contracts as a player does not need to sell the train or wagons after use Locomotives in inventory do not lose lifespan or pay m…
- Development update - 12 November 2023
Hi, I want to give an update on the development process for the upcoming big changes to the game. I want to give a high-level overview of what is in the works and also what is planned to be added in the update. Note, that all of the things below are current state descriptions and are subject to change Transport logic: Passengers and freight are constantly transported by other means. The train transport now competes with these other means. So, no more situations when the production is not operating because one of the components is not delivered Economy: Passengers are separated into two categories: local and regional. Local passengers want to travel to the neighboring cities. Regional passengers want to travel between neighboring capitals The player is able to set a price level per connection. This influences the number of passengers generated by the connection. The relationship is not l…
- Work progress - 4 September 2023
As promised the game continues to be updated, new features are added and issues are addressed. I constantly publish updates with fixes and new features. I try to swiftly react to the issues or requests that the players have. Below is a list of features that were added/updated/fixed during the past 3 weeks. Features added: Added a toggle to the map view that will keep the map camera position on the view changes Added per-platform maintenance for multi-platform stations Added signals auto placement tool (allows instant placing of multiple signals) Added ability to rebind controls. Added blinking cursor - Small UI fixes in Research and Regions panels. Updated cargo icons layout for Full HD resolution - Lists panels are made resizable in height (trains list, lines list, etc.) - Regions prices increase the more regions you have. For the biggest map, the maximum possible region price is 31 million I will continue workin…
- New maps - 2 August 2023
Two new maps are added in the last update: Small Nordic island that has only 4 regions Large map with a massive lake in the middle Feedback on the maps is very important, I will be happy to hear what you think about new and existing maps. A couple of suggestions are also included in the update. Station and rail construction maintains your last selected options, no need to pick high-speed rails every time. The same is done for train and line sorting. Also, a lot of work is being done on improving quality. I am highly determined to bring quality to the highest possible level. I am trying to address all your concerns and questions in a timely manner and will continue to do it in the future. Thank you for your support and will see you around!
- Train World is live - 22 July 2023
The game is released. What does it mean for Train World? This means you have a chance to support me in future project development of new content and features. You now have a real impact on what happens next. Your feedback and support are crucial for the project. A few updates have already been published, most are about bug fixes. There are also a few changes: added v-sync option, this could help with screen tearing and the smoothness of the game difficulty setting is now available. It influences money income, loans, and taxes. Current saves will not be influenced by this I've added X 16 time scale button. This should make the game more comfortable and reduce moments where you need to wait for long periods of time. Note, with this change I had to remove the ability for the camera to follow the train at X8 and X16 time speed. This is done to remove any chance of issues when following high…
