- 🚨Torn Apart Prototype out now! - 22 May 2023
After launching our first prototype “LEVEL 0: A Backrooms Experience” in March, we are now ready to unveil our latest free-of-charge Steam prototype. In collaboration with the developers from Monokel we have created a game about deception, accusation, denial, judgment, and zombies: Torn Apart. This social deduction game is all about trying to survive – as either the (aptly named) survivors or the dastardly traitors. Download our prototype and stop the zombies from entering your base before you discover which of your teammates have been secretly working against you! This prototype is the most fun with 4-8 players, so make sure to get a few of your friends to download the game as well. Additionally, there are plenty of settings to play around with when creating a custom game, if you want more of a challenge (or if you just want to walk around the map really, really fast). Of course, this…
- 🧟 Insight into Torn Apart: How it works - 19 May 2023
Hey there! Before Torn Apart launches next week, we want to give you a quick overview of how the game works, so you're all set for your first rounds! Additionally, we will upload a guide we recommend you check out before getting started. Your goal in Torn Apart is to protect your group’s camp from zombies and escape with the rescue helicopter that's on its way to you. To do that, you need to repair barricades and other defense systems to keep the zombies out. Pressing "F" will bring up your radar, which shows you all the places in the camp where things need to be repaired. But be quick! You only have limited time before the zombies storm your camp. You start the game in the meeting room where you'll find a table with tools. Grab a hammer or screwdriver – it doesn't matter which one – and then explore the camp. When the alarm goes off, that means areas in the camp need to be repaired. Bu…
- 🧟 Insight into Torn Apart: Our Vision - 15 May 2023
Hi all! Today we want to tell you a bit more about the development of Torn Apart and our vision for the prototype. From May 22nd, you will have the opportunity to download the free demo directly from our store page and play with up to eight players, accuse each other, defend against zombies, and just generally have a good time. Our prototypes are created in two different ways. Our internal team of developers works on their own prototypes (more on that soon, we are currently in the process of figuring out which prototype to start with), and we also pick parallel studios that we know well, simply like or that deliver great games. In this case, all three checkboxes are ticked, because Monokel developed our idea for us. The process of creating such a prototype is relatively simple, but it also involves a lot of effort: First, someone has an idea. In the beginning, this is usually a sentence…
- Dr. Eva: How to survive a zombie apocalypse - 11 May 2023
How would you survive in a zombie apocalypse, with a hidden traitor in your ranks? We know that our answer is - we wouldn't... But fret not! In anticipation of Torn Apart launching May 22nd we hooked up with the actual live(!) zombie expert Eva Kingsepp to give us some invaluable tips for survival. So Eva, what is your relation to zombies anyway? I used to watch lots of silly zombie movies in the 80’s, and when I began working on my PhD, which was about Nazi Germany/WWII in popular culture, I got into Nazi zombies, which became my niche regarding the undead. Some years ago I had watched almost all Nazi zombie movies available, but after Overlord (2018) I really got bored… Why are there zombies everywhere? A good question! Why were they not that common in, say, the 1960’s? A simple explanation might be that since the 70’s the pop culture industry has grown to enormous proportions globall…
- 🧟 Insight into Torn Apart: Prototyping - 9 May 2023
Hey everyone! First of all: We're stoked to announce that you'll be able to try out our second prototype Torn Apart from May 22nd! In Torn Apart, we're experimenting with our own take on social deduction games by combining traitor gameplay with a first-person view. We've had the idea of this mix brewing in our heads for a while now, so we're super happy to have found a studio like Monokel that got our vision and executed it fantastically. Since we worked together on White Shadows, it was an easy choice for us to collaborate again and bring this prototype to life. Through this new approach to "prototyping", we have the opportunity to try out new ideas with you and test them directly, instead of spending ages figuring out whether they'll work. We want to hear directly from you about what you think of our crazy ideas! So, we're counting on your feedback. From May 22nd, you can download the…
