Hey golfers, we’ve got some exciting news - Dungeon Golf is going to come swinging out of Early Access on the 17th of November! That’s right our next patch (which is a stonker, by the way, with a huge list of patch notes including TWO NEW Undead lair courses!) will be version 1.0. “Well that sounds incredible and I am very excited!” You might be thinking at this point, “But,” (there is always a but so I can’t blame you) “didn’t it say on the store page that Dungeon Golf would be in Early Access for about four months?” You’re right of course, and that’s where this announcement takes a slightly sadder note. In the world of Dungeon Golf, the evolution of our bots has taken the game to new heights. Let's dive into the transformation… Old Bots The old ones simply aimed for the cup or the nearest corner they could spot. Super basic, right? They had a few extra rules like dealing with sand and slopes, making them sometimes go for powerful shots. But honestly, they were kind of blind to what lay ahead. New & Improved Bots Now, the new guys have a completely different strategy. They simulate tons of shots, picking the best one. As long as the simulation is spot-on, the real shot should land where the bot predicts. But how do we get bots to decide which shots to even simulate? It’s been a crazy ride from an idea while playing minigolf with my family, to Valve featuring us during Next Fest and being part of Awesome Indies at Gamescom.
