- NervBox 0.7 Update - Mod Streaming - 23 December 2025
Happy holidays and welcome to Mod Streaming in NervBox! NervBox 0.7 has been our biggest undertaking yet. We set out to not only add mod support, but to solve a lot of the common pitfalls and pain points with modding multiplayer games. This update represents a complete evolution of the game, moving from a static playground to a living, community-driven ecosystem. And it’s just the beginning…The Era of Mod StreamingThe headline feature of 0.7 is Mod Streaming. - 4/7 Patch - Spring Cleaning - 7 April 2025
Hey Nervs! First off, we are absolutely thrilled to report that Mod Support development is in full swing! The team is working incredibly hard, and we cannot wait to see the amazing new maps, modes, and mayhem you all will create! If you’d like to help us test the tools, please sign up here. We'll be sharing more concrete details with everyone very soon... get ready! But while that's cooking in the background, let's dive into what's landing in today's patch! This update is primarily focused on cleanup and stabilization following our engine upgrade to Unity 6 last month. That update brought huge changes across the board, including upgrading the renderer to URP and implementing Meta XR Audio for audio raytracing. As you know, we encountered some unexpected issues with the new audio raytracing shortly after the 0.6 update went live, forcing us to temporarily disable it. We're thrilled to an…
- 0.6 Update - Turbo Charged Engine - 19 December 2024
Hi Nervs! We’ve been hard at work upgrading all of our systems to prepare for the next phase of development: Mod Support. This is the biggest upgrade we’ve made to NervBox since we launched, and nearly all of the underlying systems and tools have gotten a full upgrade. The TL;DR for all of the upgrades is: higher quality, better performance, and improved tools. First and foremost we upgraded to the newest version of Unity: Unity 6. Unity 6 brings us some long-awaited performance and tooling improvements that we wanted to get, not only for us, but for all modders who will build with NervBox in the near future. On the rendering side, we’ve switched to the Universal Render Pipeline (URP) to take advantage of the latest and greatest rendering features Unity has to offer. In NervBox 0.6 we’re already using the new lighting system called Adaptive Probe Volumes for lighting dynamic objects, VF…

Hey everyone! Today we’ve got a minor patch to address some small issues that we didn’t get to tackle last update. We’ve also included a few minor tweaks to holsters and Sandbox Clash. Make sure you take a look at our roadmap to see what we’re working on next: https://trello.com/b/EZ9qQMyu/nervbox-roadmap. For any feedback, feature requests, or bug reports, please join the discord: https://discord.gg/EkRXj9YxXD Thanks for playing! - NervBox Team Patchnotes: Interaction Fixed rotation issues on the sandbox gun in telekenetic mode. Holsters now only show text when they contain an item. Player Improved teleporting, players should now stretch less often. Player torsos can now be grabbed. Levels NervBall Arena: Fixed…
- 8/2 Update - Unholstering New Game Modes - 3 August 2024
Hey Everyone! Today we’re launching big updates to the core gameplay modes in NervBox along with improvements to functionality and performance across the board! First up is the Gamemodes: they’ve been fairly neglected and as result, unexciting, and mostly unplayed. With today’s update we’re leveling up our gamemode offerings with some big upgrades and additions. To support this change, we’ve completely rewritten the tools and frameworks used to build gamemodes so that we can deliver more polished and exciting gameplay. And yes, these are the same tools we’ll be shipping as part of the upcoming modding SDK. Given the new quality bar we’re setting with NervBall, we’ve taken the axe to CtF and Traitor as they do not offer the gameplay experience that they should. Fear not though, they’re being redesigned and rebuilt with the new tools and will be back as soon as they hit the new quality st…
- 5/16 - NervBox 0.5 - 16 May 2024
Hey everyone, Today we’re excited to share version 0.5 of NervBox with you all with some major new features and large improvements to the Sandbox Gun and networking stack. Check out our awesome new trailer! First off, we are deploying our third map: Labs. Labs is our new multi-purpose training map to help introduce mechanics to players. Run through the movement course, take aim in the shooting range, or play around in a new sandbox environment. Labs can be accessed through the lobby creation menu, with an optional tutorial game mode available to enable extra controls information. Things are heating up in the Warehouse. Lava has leaked in and filled the room! Watch out, the floor is deadly! We are also currently working on a game mode that will take advantage of this lava, so stay tuned! Lava Warehouse can also be accessed through the lobby creation menu. We’ve added Weld Ownership Propa…
- 3/29 Patch - Networking Hotfixes - 29 March 2024
Hey Everyone! We’ve pushed a few quick fixes for the previous update. Unfortunately, when we deployed the last update we noticed players hosting on Quest were seeing copious amounts of jitter due to the new interpolation system. Apologies for letting that issue through, and I hope that you’ll finally get to enjoy the big improvements to smoothness that we had promised. We’re going to continue fixing up any straggler bugs, so please keep those bug reports coming! Be sure to check the roadmap to see what’s next: https://trello.com/b/EZ9qQMyu/nervbox-roadmap. If you have any feedback, feature requests, bug reports, or just want to chat with the community, be sure to join our discord: https://discord.gg/EkRXj9YxXD Thanks for your continued support! - Quantum Lion Labs Team Here’s what’s changed and been added: Networking Core: Fixed Quest host network jitter issues. Added variable timings t…
- 3/21 - Spatial Physics Culling & New Warehouse - 21 March 2024
Hey Everyone! Today we’re releasing one of the last major planned features for the networking stack: Spatial Physics Culling. What this means practically is that other players and the objects they interact with no longer simulate physics when far away to save performance. Until today, if you and your friend were standing at opposite ends of New Park City, you would still be simulating their player. That’s all of their bones, muscle forces, and resulting poses - which doesn’t make a lot of sense considering you won’t be interacting with them from that distance and most likely can’t even see them. Now with the new Spatial Physics Culling, we’re finally saving performance on those far away objects and players, and seamlessly transition them back to a simulated state when you approach them or begin interacting with them. All of this results in allowing Quest lobbies to scale further in term…
- 2/16 - Repulsor Gun - 20 February 2024
Hey Everyone! Today we’re releasing a new tool called the Repulsor, a gun which allows you to pick up and throw objects with ease! Additionally, we’ve made a whole host of tweaks plus improvements to performance. This is part one of our performance improvement journey, so get ready for much more! Be sure to check the roadmap to see what’s next: https://trello.com/b/EZ9qQMyu/nervbox-roadmap. If you have any feedback, feature requests, bug reports, or just want to chat with the community, be sure to join our discord: https://discord.gg/EkRXj9YxXD Enjoy the update! -Quantum Lion Labs Here’s what’s changed and been added: Props: Added the repulsor gun Reworked the baseball bat model and sounds Rerendered multiple icons Sandbox Gun: Made some tweaks to how telekinetic mode compensates for gravity. This should result in better stability of held objects Backend: Updated core networking librari…

Simply grab the gizmo and pull it away or towards the Sandbox Gun. Added prevention for rapid spawning of Sandbox Guns. Sand…
- 1/9 - New Year, New Update! - 9 January 2024
Hey everyone, Happy New Year! Last year, we spent a lot of time working on internal tooling and processes to help us build content faster. Now that those are starting to solidify, we will be putting out content updates more regularly. We've also begun building out our modding SDK using the tools we've developed, and are excited to share more about that in the near future. 2024 is going to be an exciting year! In this update we've added various building blocks and sports balls to play with alongside a wide smattering of bug fixes. As always, we are constantly listening for your feedback and suggestions. To find out what's next, please see our roadmap: https://trello.com/b/EZ9qQMyu/nervbox-roadmap. Also if you're not in the Discord server, be sure to join! - 12/19 - Welcome to New Park City! - 19 December 2023
Hey everyone! We've been hard at work behind the scenes building a new version of park set in a massive city. This new city has some soaring skyscrapers, perfect for swinging on or sliding down. We've also been fixing various bugs, namely the jitter on the player when framerates aren't super high. We have a lot in store for next year, so keep your eyes peeled for the exciting new content! The previous player update now allows us to add the much requested player-to-player grabbing, which we will continue to expand upon in the future. For comfort we have limited this to an opt-in setting, where other players can only grab you if you allow them to. Lastly, we are always looking for your feedback, suggestions and creations. To find out what we're working on next, and planning for the future, be sure to check out the roadmap: https://trello.com/b/EZ9qQMyu/nervbox-roadmap. If you're not alrea…

Hey everyone! First of all we want to thank you for your continued support of NervBox with your countless suggestions, bug reports, and feedback. Given the Early Access nature of NervBox, all these comments are crucial to the success of the game. Today, we’re excited to introduce the long awaited **Foundations Update**! During the past couple of months, we’ve spent a lot of time rearchitecting NervBox’s core systems, from building the next generation of our player ragdoll to streamlining the netcode and interaction systems. These changes have been made with the goal of addressing player pain points and performance challenges while laying the groundwork for many future improvements and content additions. The next-gen ragdoll has an all-new avatar and hand poses, plus improvements to animations and the muscle simulation system. It runs faster and smoother while also being easier for us to…

- 5/26 Major Update - Networking Overhaul - 27 May 2023
Hey everyone, apologies for the silence, we’ve been hard at work on our backend making sure NervBox is stable and scalable to best support our future plans. You should expect to see more regular updates going forward. Here’s what’s been changed and added: Networking: The entire networking backend has been overhauled. We switched from using “Netcode for GameObjects” to “Fish Networking”. Alongside this we are now using Epic Online Services as our relay service. Most of the following netcode improvements are a result of this change. Reduced bandwidth usage globally. Players should notice reduced latency. Reduced CPU usage. This allows for more objects to be synchronized, and will allow for larger lobby sizes down the road. Improved Death and Respawning, player bodies should not explode as often. Reworked and greatly improved Holster Sync. Improved Weld Gun Sync. Fixed an issue where playe…
