- Toads Of The Bayou is Into The Breach but with aristocratic, pipe smokin’ toads (of the bayou) - 8 November 2024
In all honesty, Toads Of The Bayou could have been several notches less ribbet-ing than its Steam demo ended up being, because its stylised pixel fly-snatchers are just that good. There’s only one of the three characters available in the freebie (one of the others is a toad nun with a shotgun), but he’s got a little cutlass, a flintlock pistol, and a can-do attitude - at least when it comes to either stabbing or shooting things. The game itself is a little bit deckbuilder, a little bit Into The Breach : turn based strategy with perfect information and various tricks you can pull to make enemies hit each other instead of the thing you’re trying to protect. Indulge yourself on the gourmet tray-tray below. Read more

Greetings, brave Toads! We’re excited to share some important updates regarding the development of Toads of the Bayou. Over the past months, we’ve been hard at work behind the scenes on the game. - Dev Log #3: What's new & SimFest - 25 July 2024
Hey toads 🐸 It’s been a while since the last dev log, and boy did we go over some upgrades! A lot of work has been put into the game since we last gave an update, and I’m super excited to share it with you. Recruits: One of the major additions to the game is the ability to recruit toads directly from the Tavern, to join you in your uprising journey against Baron Samedi! We have imagined a lot of unique toads, which all have their own special abilities, to help you create the best combos you can think of. As your progress through your run, your toads will be your best allies against the creatures from the Bayou. Recruits behave as activated abilities, that trigger when a certain condition is met. The good thing is that there is not activation limit! You’ll see their icon pop on the screen when they get triggered, and this will surely mean that you did something good! Tavern: About that…

We'll have more news to share soon, but in the meantime we'd like to say a big thanks to everyone who has been supporting our game. Your feedback from demos and playtests has really helped us out, and you've made a small dev team very hoppy. (sorry) Until next time!
- Dev Log #2 - 29 January 2024
Hi everyone, and happy new year! It has been a real pleasure to share some bits of the story behind Toads of the Bayou in the last log, and I have been really excited to continue! Last time, I talked about why we decided to go with toads, and how the characters have been created. The thing I would love cover now is the setting. Although a swampy environment seems like the ideal place for a toad, the Southern Gothic style we chose for our bayou is a mix of many references. Actually, contrary to the toads, the bayou was in the game since the beginning. The idea of a city building game taking place in a Cajun atmosphere sounded really charming to me. As a French person, I suppose that the Cajun culture sounds like a parallel timeline to me, like cousins from the other side of the globe, that you share a legacy with but have never met yet. I also felt like this was the perfect terrain for a…
