- So about 2025... - 17 January 2025
Hey-hey! So as I promised two weeks ago, I m back with more details on the 2025 plan for Carbonflesh. But before that, I wanted to share two screenshots: How it started How its going The first one from the demo you played in the summer of 2024 and the new one from the updated upcoming demo- which is coming soon! We focused on three things - which according to the community that graciously gave us feedback- were the weaker aspects of the demo: 1. UI We are still working on it, but the UI has been made way more readable, compact and informative. Gone are the days of looking around the screen for your needs, what they do, and how well they fare. Just mouse over any need and you'll get all the info, while you can still click on the bar to start its corresponding action. 2. Graphics Jack got a well deserved makeover and so did his prison. While the target atmosphere/art style was something w…
- 2024: a Year in Review for Carbonflesh - 4 January 2025
2024 was the year we decided to move forward and show the world what Carbonflesh was all about. It was judgment time. After six long years in the making, it was time to give you the first taste and get the Internet's honest feedback without holding anything back. While we’re making the game we’ve always wanted to play (and that no one else had made yet), we needed to make sure we’d tapped into something that, at the very least, was worth your time—and ideally, much more. This was no easy task. Most games are pretty easy to describe or showcase. You show the main gameplay loop, explain the genre, and highlight the unique angle your game takes on an established formula. Done! But Carbonflesh offers no such shortcuts. While many of its mechanics might feel familiar, developing Carbonflesh feels more like creating a genre than just a game. Because there’s no direct parallel we can draw to e…
- Optimization patch - Carbonflesh Demo - 8 August 2024
Hello there! Its been a couple of week since the demo released, and a lot has happened since then, so I wanted to bring you up to speed. Firstly, allow me to thank you for your invaluable and constructive feedback on the demo which has been a huge help for us. Secondly, we have started to work on your feedback - with the first thing to be addressed is the game's optimization: At the time of writing this blog post, the newest build on Steam should have a 30%- 60% bump in frames per second (depending on your PC), accompanied with at least 50%-80% less loading time when you start a new game. It took James and I, a while to figure out what was causing these issues and while some work is still to be done, we remedied a big chunk of the slowdown without sacrificing visual clarity. Our goal is to have a final game that is both optimized and performant to the best of our abilities and tech we a…

- What is Carbonflesh? - 13 July 2024
Hello there! I m sure you have a number of questions, so lets get started! Bear in mind that some questions will be answered in the coming weeks (or months in some specific cases), so this is a brief overview! Story In a nutshell, a master hacker imprisoned in a train, fights to get back at the forces that stole his life’s work, and are now returning to end his life. Jack, our protagonist, with his trusted (?) sidekick Caleb, who is a brain implant, start off just five days before their demise. You take the role of Jack in this difficult time, to hopefully avert this possible future, by training your mind and body, hacking the prison train and ...deciding a course of action depending on any opportunities you might open up during all this. Feel/Controls Carbonflesh is a love letter to the dark futuristic movies of the 80s and 90s as well as their iconic training montages. The sci-fi dren…
